Crystal responds with a sneer, tries her best to hold back her tears, and shouts back, "Fuck off, Alex! I don't want to see you again."

Alex cannot believe what he just heard. Over the past few years, Crystal is always staying with him and taking good care of him. He believes that she will never leave him no matter what he has done to her.

However, she just asked him to scram and disgusted him like a stinky fish. She said she did not want to see him anymore. Her response scares Alex.

"Don't worry. As long as you save Maya, you'll always be my wife. No one can replace you."

He makes such a promise without second thoughts. He has no idea whether he does it to comfort her or instead himself. He thought marriage would satisfy Crystal. That's what she's asking for all these years.

His promise, instead of comforting Crystal, breaks her heart completely. "Alex, no wonder you're a successful businessman. In your eyes, everything is exchangeable, right? Using my baby's life to exchange for a spouse?"

The tears that she has been holding back all this time finally fall. Well aware of the ridicule in her words, Alex frowns. He thought she would happy, but it did not seem like what he had expected.

"I've made the promise and will certainly never break it." Alex thinks she just doesn't believe him, so he explains one more time.

Crystal closes her eyes. She doesn't want to see him. "Are you sure?"

"Of course! You have my words!" Alex swears.

"Go away!" Crystal takes a deep breath to calm herself down. Maya has planned all these to become Alex's wife. At least, her plan will never come to anything because of Alex's promise.

Alex's footsteps are getting further and further away. Her heart is fading with him. Before he disappears completely, Crystal asks, "Alex, have you ever loved me? Even a little bit?"

The answer is obvious, but Crystal cannot control herself. She's still expecting something.

Alex stops but doesn't answer it for minutes. Minutes of silence in this icy ward. Scary and hurtful silence tears Crystal apart.

"Okay, I see. No need to lie to me." Crystal's heart is completely shattered into pieces. He didn't answer it not because he's hesitating, but because he's afraid that she would not donate her bone marrow to Maya. It's not a difficult question. He's answered it thousands of times by mocking her mercilessly.

Alex looks at Crystal. There are so many emotions in his eyes. He wants to say something, but in the end, he doesn't. He turns around, closes the door, and leaves without a single word.

Do I love her? He had thought he could answer the question without hesitation. But in fact, he does not know how to answer it.

"Alex, how's Crystal?" Maya walks toward Alex and pretends to be worried about Crystal.

Like always, Maya is gentle and caring. But this time Alex gets tired of it. He's in a fret.

"She's fine. You're not feeling well as well. Go back to your room and take a good rest. I have to go back to the office because of some emergency. Bye!" Alex says goodbye to her and leaves, or to be more exact, flee.

Watching Alex walking away, Maya clenches her fists. She feels as though she's rooted through the earth, stuck to the spot. Crystal asked whether he loved her, but Alex didn't reply. This was not him.

Damn Crystal! Maya looks through the window towards the woman lying on bed. I would never let Alex go back to you. Never ever. Even if it is almost impossible, but I'll put an end to it. Alex is mine and mine only. No one can take him away!
