The Twelfth Day: 3 April 2020

The Twelfth Day: 3 April 2020 (38,168 confirmed infected, 3,605 died, in total)

" This advice is not a request - it is an instruction. Stay at home, protect lives and then you will be doing your part." – Matt Hancock

The numbers of confirmed cases and death toll were still soaring. We went on “doing our part” by staying at home for the whole day.

Neighbours stood on their balconies to give regards to and talk with others. People in our community were using public space in an orderly manner: keeping distance, avoiding touching public surfaces and cleaning the space after use. We saw a daddy playing balls and “choo-choo train” game with his kids, later a daughter pushing her aged father on a

wheelchair to watch the wild ducks recently moved to the pond, then a young man and a girl bringing down their gloves to practise boxing.

The middle-aged man on the third floor of the building facing us was, rarely, wiping the glass of his balcony; the older Arabian merchant living downstairs was trimming his alien plants in his garden; the young couple living next to us had been sitting on the balcony, drinking and chatting from the morning until sunset...

Calm and quiet, that is the common life of us in these uncommon days.
