The Twenty-first Day: 12 April 2020

The Twenty-first Day: 12 April 2020 (84,279 confirmed infected, 10,612 died, in total)

" It’s important the message about staying at home and social distancing is adhered to because we’re certainly not past this virus damage yet." – Yvonne Doyle

Another beautiful Sunday. Figures show a sign of stabilizing. The Prime Minister is getting well and continues with recovery in his country residence, Chequers. Glimmer of hope appears on the horizon. To keep “distancing”, we decided to have our family’s daily exercise by walking along the canal to the nearest park. By taking this route we met nobody but only two to three cyclists.

It was the very blossom time. Flowering cheery and pear trees could be seen on both sides of the riverbank. White and yellow flowers scattered on the grass. Dan picked up a dandelion, pulled down his face mask and blew the “little parachutes” into the sky.

The water of the canal was quite dirty, with garbage and dead plants floating on the surface. That was because all environment maintenance work had been reduced to the minimum. Stuffed trash bins could be seen more easily on the streets and courtyards. A standstill city does not prevent their residents from producing waste and garbage.

We saw a bus stopped at a bus stand on our way home. Buses now use their middle doors only. Front doors will not open in a bid to protect the drivers. But still, the drivers do not wear face masks at all.
