The Thirty-fourth Day: 25 April 2020

The Thirty-fourth Day: 25 April 2020 (148,377 confirmed infected, 20,319 died, in total)

"As the deaths caused by this terrible virus pass another tragic and terrible milestone, the entire nation is grieving." – Priti Patel

A truly sad milestone is reached today: the death toll in the UK has passed 20,000. And do not forget this is only the figure of deaths in hospital. There are reportedly about 40% more people died at home or care homes after tested positive for COVID-19, and there can be many people died of this virus without being tested, too.

As if the sky and winds want to express their condolences, it is much colder than the days before. Watched out from window, about half of the people on the street are now wearing face masks. Face masks are still difficult to buy, as all PPE is now “of strategic importance” and is provided to health workers at top priority.

Daytime is getting much longer as Summer comes. We three took a quick walk around our community before we went to bed, while the sky was still not completely dark. It is safer to go out early in the morning or late in the evening for one may encounter no one at all. This is the case when we talk about evading the virus. On the other hand, it is reported that more crimes have been conducted this week, for there were less people on the street.
