Finally today is Lilac’s birthday. I set up my alarm at 5 am today so I can get up early and be ready so I can go to Lilac’s house so I did my daily routine. With a below the knee dress with sunflower designs with no sleeves, I went out of my room and went to the kitchen and I saw my mom preparing our breakfast.

“Hey darling, good morning.” I was about to greet her first but she’s too fast so she has greeted me first instead.

So I walked towards her who’s standing near the stove and kissed her cheek. “Good morning too mom.” mom and I were living together since I was five because Dad left us for other women. I only got mom and mom only got me. We only have each other so we cherish us both.

“Take a sit honey. This is almost done.” like what mom said I took a sit and pick an apple on the basket and ate it while waiting for the food.

“Mom are you going for work today?” mom is working as a baker in a pastry shop in our neighboring town which is fifteen minutes of travel from here in our place.

“Yes honey, I’ll be home by 6 pm.” mom is too busy but she always wanted to prepare food for me. She likes doing some efforts for me and I loved her even more because of that.

“Maybe I can’t join you for dinner mom. The party might end by 10 but I’ll be home by eight for sure.” I have to remind her because she might wait for me.

“Oh it’s okay darling just enjoy the party and by the way I baked some cookies for Lilac bring it as a gift.” he pointed a jar with a design filled with cookies at the top of the fridge.

“Lilac will surely love that mom.” Lilac likes cute things and she likes cookies that much too that’s why I was able to say it.

“It’s made with the effort so she will. Eat now honey.” mom said while she’s putting plates in front of me and then she put pancakes and poured chocolate syrup on top of it and then she gave me a cup of hot chocolate.

“You always make my breakfast extra special mom.” she just beamed a smile. Breakfast like this will always be awesome for me because it was prepared with love and I love breakfast with mom. We ate silently but the doorbell suddenly rang.

“Continue eating honey I’ll be the one to open it.” I was about to stand to check who is it but mom cut me off.

“Okay mom, but I think it’s Lilac because she told me she’ll fetch me today.” Lilac’s home is on the other street which will take 10 minutes of driving from here.

“We’ll see.” mom said as she went out of the kitchen and so I continued eating while waiting for mom to come back to confirm that it’s Lilac.

“What’s with that smile mom.” I can sense that there is something going on.

“I thought it was Lilac but instead I found a green-eyed man in front of our door honey.” like I was stunned when she said that. There is only one person I know who has a green eye and that was Gavin, Lilac’s cousin whom I’ve met yesterday at the mall. So I rushed out of the kitchen and there I saw Gavin sitting comfortably on our sofa.

“Where’s Lilac?” I asked him when I was already standing in front of him.

“She asked me to fetch you because she needs to run some errands for her party.” I have really a feeling that this was all just a setup. That Lilac.

“I see. Ah, mom! I’ve finished my breakfast we should go now.” I went to mom and kissed her on the cheek.

“You owe me story honey.” mom whispered to me. I just smiled at her and went back to the kitchen to get the jar of cookies for Lilac.

“Bye mom. Take care!” I said as I went out of the house with Gavin.
