Her Birthright

Prologue

.....

Sarah glowed in his praise happy that she impressed him. They took their stance and Daniel attacked as usual, she dodge quickly and gave a counter attack making Daniel smile “you’ve learnt well”

“That’s because I have an excellent teacher”

Daniel nodded “let’s do that again”

After training for a while they stopped to rest “you not a bad learner” he was lying on the grass

“How could I be a bad learner, when you are the one teaching me” she laid down beside him

Daniel turned to look at her, why did he feel like she was talking about more than the training or was her been close by affecting his sense of reasoning? Suddenly a thought occurred to Sarah that filled her with great pain and guilt. What if he had a sweetheart in the village who was waiting for him to come back? Her heart squeezed in pain at the thought of him being with another girl… why was life so complicated? She wondered.

“Just wondering, is there any special someone expecting you back at home when all this is over?” she held her breath awaiting his answer

Daniel turned to look at her surprise but happy she asked. It meant she cared about him. He knew exactly what she was talking about but he decided to tease her a little “anyone special like?” he asked a small smile playing on his lips

“Like… like a girl” she concentrated on something interesting in the clouds afraid he could see her fear if he looked at her.

Daniel used one hand to turn her face back to him. How he loved her… how he longed to tell her that there had never been any other girl in his heart except her... she already owned his heart but now was not the time to tell her that so instead he settled for a simple no “the only girl that is special is right here with me” his whispered and did what he wanted to do ever since he knew her. He didn’t know if it was her bright eyes that made him throw caution to the wind. He kissed her with reckless abandon.

Sarah gasped in shock, then she kissed him back with the same fire. All the doubts she had about his feelings flew out of the window as a deep longing settled in the pit of her stomach. They were still lying on the ground but Sarah couldn’t feel the hard ground anymore. She basking in the euphoria of his kiss. Much to her dismay Daniel pulled away. She reached out to pull him in for another kiss but his voice stopped her. “I have wanted to do this for a long time now… and am not sorry I kiss you, in fact I will gladly do it again if given the chance” his eyes were filled with unspoken passion.

Sarah felt his eyes caress her all the way to her soul and she shivered slightly “good because am not sorry either” she placed her lips on his.
