Engr. Ibarra went to his office early the next morning. He is inspired to work that day. He doesn’t know why. Perhaps it’s because of what transpired last night between him and Leila. Daniel admits it was unexpected. Yet, he likes what they had shared together. He is falling in love with her.

As he is parking his vehicle in his designated parking area located behind the building, Daniel received a telephone call.

“Good morning engineer.”

“Good morning, sir.”

“This is Engr. Velez of the Awards Committee of the American Association of Engineers and Architects.”

“Yes, engineer. What can I do for you?”

“Congratulations! Your company has been awarded the Sci-Tech Building project.”

“Really, engineer.”

“That’s right Engr. Ibarra. You can now start creating the preliminary designs of the building so our committee can go through it as soon as possible. Then, once we approved it, you can commence with the construction.”

“Okay, sir. Thank you.”

Daniel cannot contain his happiness after the phone call. He was hysterical inside his truck.”

“Yes! Yes! We did it!”

He immediately got out and rushed towards the elevator that would take him to his office. He can’t wait to tell his team about the good news!

In the apartment, Leila just woke up. She was exhausted from last night. As she opened her eyes, Leila imagined what they did. Then she removed the blanket covering her naked body. “Sarah, please tell everyone that we’re going to have an emergency meeting in an hour. Tell them to bring all the information they have about the Sci-Tech Building project.”

“Yes, sir.”

Daniel walked straight to his office. He turned his iMac on and began tinkering with the project design.

“Sir, your team is already in the design room. They’re waiting for you.”

“Thank you, Sarah,” acknowledged Daniel.

He saved his work onto his flash drive. Then he took his laptop with him as he sauntered into the design room.

“Good day, ladies, gentlemen.”

“Before we start this meeting, I would like to congratulate everyone for a job well done.”

“The chairman of the AAEA, Engr. Velez just called me this morning. He informed me that we won the Sci-Tech project.”

A deafening applause echoed in the room as he said this.

“That’s good news indeed, sir.” remarked one of his engineers.

“The Sci-Tech building is one of the most sought after project by all the construction firms in New York.”

added another.

A spirit of triumph covered the entire team.

“So, with that done with, let’s start the brainstorming regarding the project together with the delegation of tasks to the different teams.”

Daniel distributed the various construction activities among his team members. Then he hosted an open forum so they can field in their questions and suggestions regarding the project.

Leila changed into a shirt and a pair of denim jeans after she went out from the shower. Hungry, she proceeded to the kitchen to prepare some breakfast for herself. As she is about to open the refrigerator to get the bacon and some eggs, she noticed a note posted on its door.

“Honey, I went to the office early. I will just eat breakfast along the way. – Daniel”

“Hmmm… he missed the most important meal of the day,” she whispered

“There are many things I should fixed in his life. This is one of them. As his wife, it is my responsibility.”

She took out the bacon and two eggs from the fridge. Turning the electric stove on and settling the frying pan on it, she dubbed some cooking oil once the pan started to heat up. She then dropped the egg first. Leila intends to make a sunny side up with the egg. Next, once the egg was cooked, she place two bacon strips on the frying pan.

After she was done cooking, she poured some orange juice in her glass and the she went on her way to eat them.

He ended the meeting with some notes to his team, emphasizing the importance of accomplishing their tasks on or before the deadline.

Daniel walked back to his office and tinkered with the design of the Sci-Tech Building. He wants this to be the best building they have ever constructed. He knows that if they do this right, it would catapult their construction firm to global recognition.

It was already around 9 in the evening when he decided to call it a day. He boarded his truck. As he gunned the engine on, he remembered someone.

“Leila… Leila. I need to buy her something.”

Daniel dropped by the fast food chain he usually visits whenever he needs some food to munch on. He bought some burgers, fries and some soda. He plans to have a casual snack with his wife while they cuddled on the couch watching tv tonight. Daniel drove back home to his apartment and to his wife who is waiting for him. He can’t wait to see her again.
