Chap 7: Full moon Night

Adele was looking for an opportunity to spend time with her mates, but they had to go out of town for a few days. Before leaving, Chris and Liam meet Adele.

Chris says, "We have to leave for a few days. The Alpha of the Bluerock pack is my Dad's old friend. They have some issues with the rogues and need our help."

As soon as Adele heard about the rogues, she suddenly remembered the rogues caught in Silverlake Pack.

She says, "On the day of Axel's wedding, there was a rogue attack. The rogues who were caught confessed they were asked to keep an eye on both Silverlake and Blackmoon pack."

Chris glanced at Liam and then asked Adele, "Did they say anything else as to why were they watching us?"

"No, they said they got instructions to keep a watch from a distance and not to attack," says Adele.

At this, Liam asked, "Who gave them the instructions?"

"That's the issue. Even after repeated threatening’s, they never admitted who it was. They said they just felt someone instructing them in their minds, and they were compelled to do it."

"Is that even possible? I think they lied," sneered Chris.

"I don't think they were lying. When we were interrogating the rogues, it felt like they were in a trance," said Adele thinking about their reactions on that day.

"You must have been mistaken. I think the rogues are too loyal to their boss, so they were spouting nonsense," snickered Chris.

"Being a supernatural being, how can you not believe in these things? Few supernatural’s have the ability to control and manipulate others, especially witches."

Both Chris and Liam stiffened the moment they heard Adele talking about 'witches.' It was like a trigger. They remembered the horrific past incidents when everything went downhill.

Chris held Adele's arm not too gently. "Witches? How do you know about them? Have you met someone? Are you consorting with them?"

Adele was shocked at the sudden change in Chris's behavior. She looked at his eyes, and it was dark with anger. She tried to free her arm, but he had a tight grip on it.

"I don't know any witch. I just read about them," Adele manages to say.

Liam was the first one to come out of his thoughts. He sees Chris was angry and pulls him back so that he does not hurt Adele. Liam gives Chris a warning look, and Chris realizes what he was doing.

Chris gets flustered and apologizes to Adele. "I…I…I am sorry. It's just that I hate witches."

Though Chris apologized to Adele, the seed of doubt had already taken form. He couldn't help but think, 'What if Adele joins with the witches? What will happen if the past repeats itself?'

His thoughts are interrupted by Adele "Why do you hate them so much?"

Chris was frustrated, but he calms down and manages to say, "Nothing Important. Also, we are getting late, so we will be leaving now."

"Maybe I can join you; I can surely help you fight with the rogues," asks Adele reluctantly.

Chris was getting angrier by the minute, so he says a bit rudely, "You don't have to worry about these things. It's not your job. You can rest here and let us handle it."

Adele was taken aback by his tone. Before she could say anything else, both Chris and Liam leave from there. She was standing there shocked, staring at their backs.

While on the way to Bluerock Pack, Liam says to Chris, "I think you were too rude to her."

Chris scoffed. "Then should I have invited her to join us? Why are you so worried about her?"

Liam was offended by it. "I am not worried about her. I was telling for your sake, you know we need her."

Chris realizes his mistake and says, "I am sorry. Her talk about witches really got me annoyed."

Liam hugs Chris to assure him that he understands.

Next few days, Adele tries her best to get to know the pack members. She tried to get friendly with them, but they seemed to maintain their distance. Whenever she spoke to someone, they just replied to whatever was asked. Some just greeted her and left, stating a reason, whereas few outright avoided her. Adele was not used to such behavior as the people at her old pack were very friendly and welcoming, unlike the members of the Blackwood Pack.

Maria was the only one with whom Adele was comfortable, so she insisted on taking her to the training grounds. The next day, Adele and Maria go early in the morning.

As Maria had said, only men were doing various kinds of training, some basic and some hardcore, a few in human form whereas others in their wolf form.

Adele observed them for a while and realized their wolf form fighting skills were excellent, but they lacked in many aspects in their human form.

The pack Gamma Trevor sees them watching and comes and greets her. "Good Morning, Luna. What are you doing here so early in the morning?"

Adele smiles at him and says, "I was just looking at everyone training. It's so good watching them like this."

"Why are you so interested in watching us train?" Trevor was close friends with Chris and Liam, and exactly like them, he was also skeptical towards women.

"Just checking out. Can I train with you all? asks Adele.

Trevor is surprised and says, "I don't think it is a good idea. In our pack, she-wolves don't get trained."

"Why is that?" asks Adele.

Trevor says, "They have other things to do like, taking care of their kids and family."

By now, Adele had started to realize the male members of this pack are biased towards women. She was scared to think, are even her mates like that?

She wanted to argue further but decides otherwise; instead, she calmly replies, "As you know, I have no kids, and right now, my mates are also not here. So, can I train?"

"You would rather not as your presence will only disturb the men training here. You have already caused a lot of commotion, so I would be grateful if you leave," Trevor replies annoyingly.

Adele is stunned at his disrespectful way of speaking. Before she could say anything, Maria beats her to it. "Is this the way to talk to your Luna? Apologize to her now?"

"I am sorry, Luna," says Trevor in a tone that was not at all apologetic.

Adele was fed up with everything; she just turns away and leaves. Something was not right in this pack. From the day she came here, she felt a feeling of emptiness. Apart from Maria, there was no single person from whom she could sense any warmth, not even her mates. Was it supposed to be like this? She felt even more irritated as she was not feeling quite well; she felt too tired and hot.

Maria follows her and apologizes on Trevor's behalf. Adele shrugs it off and says, "You don't have to apologize, Maria. I am fine."

Maria is relieved and says, "Come on, I will treat you to good food so that your mood would be better." Adele smiles and follows her.

After lunch, Adele excuses herself and goes to her room to rest. She tries a lot to sleep but could not. Adele was too restless and was feeling worse by the minute. She paces around her room as she felt as if her body is on fire. She decides to take a shower and enters the bathroom.

She takes a long shower, and by the time she comes out of the bathroom, it was already dark. She changes into her pajamas, and someone knocks on the door. She opens the door, and it was Maria who asked her to come for dinner, but Adele refuses as she was not in the mood. Even after a long shower, Adele still felt hot and a tingling sensation all over her body.

Adele goes towards the open window to get some cool air and looks at the moon. It was a Full moon night. "The moon is so beautiful today."

Alexa hears Adele and is suddenly on alert. Without thinking, she takes over, shifts into her wolf form, and jumps out of the window.

"What the heck Alexa, where are you running all of a sudden?" screams Adele.

"Getting away from the pack," says Alexa while still racing towards the forest.

"What? Are you insane? Why do you want to get away from the pack."

"So that we can get away from the male wolves" saying this, Alexa increases her speed and rushes towards the waterfall.

Adele is even more confused." You are not making any sense Al, why should we get away from the male wolves?"

"Foolish human! It's a full moon night, we are in heat, and our mates are not here," growls Alexa and jumps into the water.
