CHAPTER - 4

“So tell me now, what your problem is?” Agnes asked Scarlett.

“I love Rusty,” Scarlett closed her eyes and confessed her true feelings in front of Agnes.

“So?” Agnes asked, even though she knew Mia and Rusty were a pair.

Scarlett averted her gaze to the sides and said,

“When we were young, we decided among us that when we grow up we will marry each other so that our friendship will not fall apart. Daisy will marry Henry, I have to marry Scrooge and for Mia, it’s Rusty. But…”

She stopped and looked at Agnes. She thought she would see a judging eye but Agnes simply listened to her without saying anything.

“I was not willing to be with Scrooge even at that time. But I could not express it, as I thought it would make me look bad. They may stop being my friends. So in fear, I tried to push my feeling for Rusty away. But after looking at him being close to Mia, it's hurting. I thought I would accept...” Scarlett hesitated as she was not sure if she was at fault for falling for Rusty instead of Scrooge.

“You thought you would accept scrooge but it was not easy feet for you to agree with that arrangement! Am I correct?” Agnes asked.

“Do you also think I am a bad person?” Scarlett asked.

“Did Daisy find out about your change of heart or your love for Rusty?” Agnes inquired.

“I think so… But she did not ask me directly. I am not sure what I should do now?” Scarlett could not accept Scrooge at the same time she could forget her love for Rusty as well.

“Did you ask Mia if she loves Rusty? What if she doesn't love him? She could consider everyone as her friends and nothing more?” Agnes asked.

“Is that possible?” Scarlett blinked her innocent eyes and looked at Agnes with hope.

“Why not? If she doesn’t like him, then you can confess your feelings to him. But we cannot say if he will accept you or not. Still, it’s not a bad idea to give it a try. At least you will not have any regret later in the future.” Agnes said.

“You are correct! Thank you! Thank you!” Scarlett hugged her and thanked her continuously.

“You are the best. You are our life savior! I will do anything for you!” Scarlett uttered and hugged her one more time.

“Then I will take that as a promise from you. When I ask you something in the upcoming days, you must do it and not go back on your words!” Agnes demanded.

“Sure, I promise that I will do anything you ask me to do. I will not say no, because you are my best friend!” Scarlett proclaimed.

“Let’s go back now. They must be wondering, where we disappeared!” Agnes said and walked in the front with a triumph smile hidden from the person walking behind.

She could not believe such a naive fool exist in this world. She may not be sure about Mia but Rusty loves her and would not let go of Mia easily. Now that she had found a person who can help her from separating Mia from Rusty. She thought that her plan was going well so far. Now all she has to do is get them to the island safely.

When they both came back, she noticed that only Scrooge was standing alone with their luggage all around him.

“Where is everyone else?” Agnes inquired.

Scarlett felt a little awkward to look at Scrooge after her conversation with Agnes. Agnes noticed Scarlett's shy look and smiled at her knowingly. She then moved near Scrooge and whispered in his ears,

“Scrooge, when we go to the island I want to discuss something privately with you,” Agnes said while leaning very close to him.

“Ok!” Scrooge’s eyes twinkled as Agnes was not someone who would invite anyone to speak privately.

They have always seen Agnes as someone who maintained her distance from everyone. She was their friend but at the same time, she always stood an inch away from them all. Maybe, that’s why she was able to stick with them for so long. She never tried to create any problem between their gang and even if they fought she would be the one who tries to soothe things between them.

“Look, I told you they would be back before us. They must have used the other restroom. You got worried for nothing.” Mia’s sweet voice was heard from behind them.

Daisy latched her arm around Mia and pulled Mia hurriedly towards them. Once she was near, she straight away started to question them.

“Where did you guys go? I was just behind you but all of a sudden you both disappeared from my view.” Daisy asked and tried to read both their faces.

She did not find anything unusual but she somehow felt that they were hiding something from her.

“Oh! I wanted to buy some candies, so we went to the candy shop first. Do you want some?” Agnes pulled a few candies out of her pocket. She showed her hand that was full of candies in front of Daisy.

“No, I hate anything that is sweet.” Daisy shook her head and picked her bag.

“Where are Rusty and Henry?” Mia looked around as she could not find them anywhere near the place.

“They are finally here. I cannot believe they both took more time than the girls. I thought they would never come back at all. I will be back in a jiff.” Scrooge said and rushed towards the washroom.

“You could have gone after we came back, instead of waiting for them,” Scarlett said.

“No, how can I leave all the ladies alone and go? Did you look at the airport? It looks like it's haunted.” Scrooge shouted while running towards the restroom.

They all laughed behind his back as it was funny watching him run while holding his pants.

"What did he mean by the airport being haunted? This looks like any usual airport, just that there are not many people around." Scarlett said.

“That idiot! I don’t know when he will grow up,” Daisy complained.

“What will he do by growing up? Scarlett will take care of him throughout his life anyway. So you don't have to worry about 'that idiot'. Won't you, Scarlett?” Rusty said and punched on Scarlett’s arm.

Scarlett struggled to maintain the smile on her lips while looking at Agnes helplessly.

‘Don’t worry, I will help you!’ Agnes mouthed to Scarlett.

“What are you both communicating secretly?” Daisy asked.

“Oh! Nothing,” Agnes said and turned towards the entrance.

There was an old fashioned vintage car parked in front of the airport arrival pick-up. It was a two-door, eight-seater with an open-top steam car.

“Our ride is here,” Agnes shouted.

“Owww… What a ride?” Henry whistled.

“That’s a huge one over there! But what about the luggage? I don’t think we have enough space to keep them. Should we book a taxi?” Rusty asked.

“I think getting a taxi can be a little difficult here. Did you see around the airport? Other than us no one is here. Also, not even a single passenger got down from the plane except us. Are you sure it is going to be a good vacation? I am also getting a little eerie feeling,” Daisy said as she looked at the empty airport with scrutinizing eyes.
