(Sophie)

"Soph" I heard my name being called as I struggled to open my eyes and turned to the voice to see Libby standing next to me

"Good morning" I yawned

"Good morning to you too sleeping beauty. We're late" she said

"What!" I yelled as I jumped up and ran to the bathroom.

Moving as if my life depended on it I quickly got into the shower showing while brushing my teeth at the same time when Libby walked in

"Libby, why didn't you wake me up?" I asked

"Girl I just woke up myself," she yawned as I came out to see her fixing her hair

"My chemistry teacher's gonna kill me," I said as Libby stepped in

"So you have chem first again," she asked turning on the shower

"I have chem first all week," I said running out of the bathroom to get ready.

About fifteen minutes later we were outside

"Great he's late again" I sighed

"Want to ride with me?" Libby asked

"Thanks, Libbs," I said before we entered her car and drove off

About ten minutes down the road my phone rang and knowing who it as I answered

"Hey Sophie," he said nonchalantly

"Don't hey Sophie me. Where the hell are you, Nick." I said angrily

"I have a feeling you're angry about something" he joked

"Oh no I just love yelling," I said

"Look I'm sorry I couldn't pick you up okay," he said

"Really Nick what was so important this time?" I asked

"Nothing. I just went to get a drink last night and-" he said before I interrupted him

"You've got to be kidding me, Nick. You're drinking again" I said

"It was just a little"

"You wouldn't be hungover if it was just a little Nick"

"I know I shouldn't have. It's just you didn't tell me what you were talking to Taylor about" he said

"So this is my fault!" I snapped

"I didn't say that. I'm just saying all you had to do is tell me what you and Taylor" he said

"Don't bring Taylor into this Nick" I said

"What you have a problem with me talking about him," Nick said clearly jealous

"You know what Nick I'm not doing this. I'll talk to you later" I said hanging up trying not to throw my phone out the window

"So who was it?" Libby said trying to clear the air

"The ice cream man" I answered bitterly

"Wow," she said as I sighed

"Sorry Libby I'm just pissed at Nick right now" I apologized

"Really the argument didn't give it away," she said

"We weren't arguing," I said

"Mhm hmm like how you weren't arguing with James last night," she said

"You heard that," I said embarrassed

"Girl the whole block heard" she answered

"Great," I said sarcastically

"So what was that about anyway?" she asked

"An incident. Taylor was upset about me accidentally creating a potentially poisonous gas in the lab" I said

"Well considering how quiet things got after that I'm guessing you kissed and made up" she joked

"Um..." I said as I blushed remembering the kiss and then Libby lost control of the car almost crashing into a tree before getting control again

"I'd like to get to school alive please," I said

"YOU KISSED JAMES!" she shouted

"Mind saying it a little louder I don't think the entire town heard," I said

"Just hope Nick didn't," she said

"It was just a little kiss," I said

"And how long did that 'little kiss' last?" she asked skeptically

"Just a few minutes," I said

"A few minutes," she said shocked

"Yeah around three or closer to five," I said

"Sophia," she said

"Libby it didn't mean anything," I said

"If you say so," she said

"It really didn't," I said before we dropped the topic.

We arrived at school soon after and I immediately rushed to class before trying my best to silently make it to my desk while Mrs. Jones was writing on the board

"Nice of you to join us Miss Vortex," she said still writing

"How did you know it was me?" I asked

"I've been doing this for quite some time do you think you're the first to try sneaking it. Take your seat" she said as I sighed and sat down

"Why so late Sophie? Let me guess boyfriend troubles" Taylor joked

"I woke up late this morning," I said

"What? You were so peacefully dreaming about me that you forgot about school" he teased

"As if" I scoffed rolling my eyes

"I couldn't sleep. Maybe it's because I felt guilty about staying over at another guy's house until midnight" I joked

"How scandalous" he continued. It was so nice that all the air was clear and we could joke again

"Don't worry nothing happened" I said

"I wouldn't say nothing," he said

"I would," I said

"Well I seem to remember a certain blonde hair girl kissing me," he said

"Taylor that was just a friendly kiss," I said

"Friends don't kiss with tongue," he said

"Mister Taylor, Miss Vortex. Mind sharing your conversation with the class" the teacher said

"Um...we do," we said

"Then would you mind being quiet and allow me to continue my class," she said

"Yes, miss. We're sorry" we said before she turned back to everyone else

"Now I have finished marking your assignments and I'll be handing them out," she said as she took out the pile of papers and started walking to everyone's desk and putting down the paper

Soon she placed ours on our table and we were shocked, to say the least about the grade

"What the hell is this?" Taylor accidentally said out loud

"That Mister Taylor is called a B+ and it's also called your grade," she said

"But why did we get a B+?" I asked

"Well, apart from handing it unfinished work you also handed it in late. You should be lucky you even managed to get such a high grade" she said

"But I handed it the minute I got into class," Taylor said

"Yes that may be the case but all work must be handed in one day prior to the due date or have you forgotten," she said before walking away and returned to the front of the class

"Now the lesson today will be a revision on acids, bases, and pH," she said.

The class went by normally except for Taylor angrily grumbling to himself. The minute the class ended the strangest thing happened out of nowhere Taylor kissed on my cheek and whispered, "Later beautiful" in my ear before walking out of the class.

I was embarrassed, to say the least. People in the class were staring at me with scandalous looks and I could already hear the gossip starting

"Don't you have a class to go to?" I said as I walked out.

Just as I made it to my second class I saw Libby leaning against the door tapping her feet

"Hey, Libby. Why are you blocking the door? We're going to be late" I said

"What did James whisper in your ear?" she said

"How did you hear about that?" I asked

"That was ten minutes ago. The entire school heard it by now" she said

"Nick included?" I asked

"Let's hope not. My head is still killing me from the last argument" she said

"Sorry about that," I said

"Don't worry about it. Just tell me what James said" she said

"He didn't say anything important he just told me he'll see me later," I said

"So why did he have to do it in such a scandalous fashion?" she asked

"There's nothing scandalous about it. I'm sure he just wants to mess with me" I said

"Yeah he probably is but someone should tell him to stop before Nick hears about it," she said

"Would you mind?" I asked

"Sure," she said as she moved from the door and we both walked in.

And so the second class started and ended in what felt like the blink of an eye and now it's time for lunch so Libby and I were heading to the cafeteria

"So what's the deal on lunch?" Libby asked

"I was kind of hoping I could get some from you," I said

"Too bad I was planning on taking some of Carlos' since I left my wallet," she said before two people that were in my chemistry class walked up to me

"You're Sophia right?" one of them said

"Yeah," I said

"I have a question," she said

"Okay shoot," I said

"How do you get two hot guys to fight over you so easily?" She asked

"What?" Libby and I asked confused

"Your lab partner and your boyfriend in the cafeteria," she said surprising us

"Taylor?" I said

"And Nick?" Libby said before we both looked at each other before running to the cafeteria just in time to see Nick holding Taylor forcefully against the wall

"I'm gonna put you in a world of hurt Taylor," Nick said before throwing a punch

"Nick stop," I said but I was too late Nick had already punched him in his face sending him to the ground

"James!" I said concerned as I rushed over to check on him

"You okay?" I asked kneeling down

"I'm fine Sophie," he said before I got up and turned towards Nick angrily

"What the hell is your problem, Nick?" I asked

"You're asking me that? I want to know what the hell you and Taylor did at his house" Nick said

"Who told you about that?" I asked

"Sorry that was me," Taylor said as he slowly got up

"Why the hell would you tell him that?" I yelled

"So you did go over to his house," Nick said

"Nick it was just for a..." I tried to explain

"Save it Vortex," Nick said walking away

"Nick" I called out but he just kept walking

"I'm sorry Sophie but because of what you did the last ni-" he said before I turned and slapped him across his face

"Are you seriously trying to pin this on me, Taylor? Look I don't know what you think but nothing happened last night" I said pissed

"What is going on here?" a stern voice said before the crowd parted revealing the principal walking in front of Carlos and Carl

"All of you back to lunch before I give you all detention," she said getting the crowd to dissipate

"Now what is happening?" She asked

"I got into a fight," Taylor said truthfully

"Was Miss Vortex involved?" She asked

"Actually..." He started before he started to faint lucky for him I caught him

"Taylor are you okay?" I asked concerned

"Vortex?" he said confused as he stood up

"Where am I?" I asked

"School," Carlos said

"How did I end up at school...and why does my face hurt?" he said

"You're saying you don't remember what happened here?" The principal asked

"The last thing I remember was falling asleep in my lab trying to finish up the project," he said

"A very likely story Mister Taylor but you still have to come to my office," she said

"Okay," he said confused as they both walked off with Carlos and Carl following

I sighed and started heading for the door

"Where are you going?" Libby asked

"To get some air," I said as I walked out. 

I went to the school garden and sat down on the lawn and took out my phone and texted Nick

*We need to talk* but he didn't answer

*Please*

He still didn't answer.

I sighed as I put away my phone

I stayed out there for nearly an hour before my stomach growled.

"That doesn't sound good," Taylor said making his way over to me

"What do you want?" I asked upset

"I wanted to check if you're okay but I guess you're fine," he said as he started walking away

"Why?" I asked

"What?" He asked turning back to me

"Why would you tell Nick I went over to your house last night," I asked

"I don't remember but Carlos said he came up in my face and started shouting about something. Then I said something like what kind of boyfriend can't even drive his own girlfriend to school and he got angry and at some point, he said not my fault Sophie came to me and then I responded with so why was she at my house" he said

"So some childish man competition," I said rolling my eyes

"At least that's what Carlos said. To be honest I don't remember even getting up this morning" he said taking a seat beside me

"Okay so why exactly did you try to blame me?" I asked angrily

"Because I know it's your fault," he said

"How is your egos my fault?!" I yelled

"Not that. Your accident. Last night. I ran some test before I went to sleep and I found out the chemical you release was mixed with an untested serum I was working on so the mist was able to mess with my mind and change my personality for a short term" he explained

"Oh," I said

"That's what you meant" I continued

"Yep"

"So why didn't it affect me?" I asked

"I don't know. I have a theory it is because I had prolonged exposure from going back down there" he shrugged and I sighed

"Listen Vortex," he said putting my hand in his and resting it on my lap

"It took me three years to get over you last time I'm not letting one night, one dinner and one kiss get me back to that," he said with a smile

"One amazing kiss" I whispered to myself as the wind blew through our hairs. It was not something  had wished to say out loud

"One really amazing kiss" he agreed as the leaves fell from the trees

"One really really amazing kiss," we both said as our lips touched and we kissed for another five minutes before the bell rang and we separated

"Um I got to go," he said sitting up after a moment of silence

"Yeah," I said trying to hide the blush on my face

"See you tomorrow," he said as he went back towards the door.

Just as he went inside my phone buzzed so I took it out and saw that Nick sent a message

*Nick- Meet me in the parking lot*

*On my way* I sent as I got up and went towards the parking lot and I saw him leaning on his car

"Nick I'm so sorry I didn't tell you I went over to Taylor's house. It was only for a chem project" I started ranting

"It's okay Sophie," he said

"What?" I asked

"It's okay. I've actually been here talking with a friend and thinking about some stuff" he said looking up into the sky

"Like?" I asked fearing what he'd say

"I know we've been getting into a lot of fights recently and I know most of it is my fault," he said

"Nick where are you going with this?" I asked

"I haven't been the best boyfriend but I'm willing to change. I'm willing to start over. I want to forget the last two months and two days. We both made mistakes so what do you say we start over" he said

"Yes," I said tears in my eyes

"But I have to know," he said

"Know what?" I asked

"Did you do something with Taylor last night?" He asked.

I was taken back by this considering what happened just a while ago and I didn't answer

"Should I take that as a yes?" he said clenching his fist

"No. I swear all I did was make dinner and we ate" I lied through my teeth

"Was that all?" He asked

"Yes" I lied as he let out a sigh of relief

"Good. Sorry for being so direct I just wanted to start over our relationship with no lies" he said

"Don't worry about it" I said. A feeling of guilt filled my heart but I knew that nothing good would come from telling him about the kisses so why bother

"Well I'll see you tomorrow," he said about to enter his car

"Wait you're leaving?" I asked

"Yeah I was actually in the middle of something important," he said

"Nick," I said

"What is it?"

"If you're going to start over you're going to need to do something. You need to start coming to school. I won't ask why you stopped because I already know you won't tell me but I really think you should come to school. I know your father owns a big company and all but-"

"Stop," he said. Without even thinking about it I had pressed his sore spot again

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to"

"It's fine" he sighed

"But I really think you should come back to school," I said

"I'll think about it okay" he promised

"That's all I ask" I smiled

"See you after school," he said kissing me. I was a bit taken back by the sudden kiss so I didn't kiss back

"Something wrong?" he asked

"No. I was just caught off guard" I said

"Okay. I'll see you" he said getting into his car before he drove away.

I watched as his car drove out of the school and I just smiled blissfully

"That turned out better than expected," I said as I started heading back inside the school. Not long after I stopped Libby leaning on a locker

"Hey Libbs you won't believe what Nick just said outside," I said before the bell rang again

"I'll tell you about it later we have class," I said happily walking past her

"I saw you," she said leaning off the wall

"What?" I asked still smiling and walking

"I saw you kissing James," she said as my gleeful smile turned into a timid expression

"What are you talking about?" I asked shakily as I turned around to see her face. She had a serious look on her face and her hands were folded 

"Don't play dumb with me girl. I walked out to check on you when you kissed James" she said seriously. The tone of her voice reminded me of a mother that had caught her child doing something bad and like that child, my head was down refusing to look her in the eye

"It's not what it looks like," I said trying to think of something to say

"Then what is it?" 

"It was just a friendly platonic kiss" I lied

"Damn I must need to get my eyes checked because that didn't look very platonic to me" she sarcastically quipped

"Um...I...I..." I stuttered 

"Girl just stop. I literally saw you" she said

"Please don't tell Nick" I sighed 

"Of course I won't. But listen girl you need to figure stuff out" she said

"I did. I'm starting over with Nick" I said raising my head and finally looking her in her eyes

"Are you sure?" She asked

"Yeah. Taylor and I just started talking again and I don't want to mess that up" I said smiling weakly

"Okay but let me offer you some advice. James is the smartest, as well as one of the hottest, guys in the school. He won't be single forever" Libby said

"I know," I said

"I hope you do. Let's head to class" she said
