Sophie's POV

A month had passed since the beginning of school and I had gotten used to the new schedule. Things were going well I thought sitting in front of the dresser combing my hair before I heard Nick honking his horn

"I'm coming," I said as I put down the brush, grabbed my bag, and ran out closing the door behind me.

"Sorry to keep you waiting" I apologized getting into the car

"After a month I kinda got used to it" he yawned. Even a month in Nick was not one to wake up early

"Like how I got use to your horn," I said

"Touché," he said as he backed out of the drive away.

"So did you and James finish the project you were doing," he asked saying Taylor's name with venom laced in it. While he still hated the fact that we were lab partners he didn't overreact or anything like before. In fact, he actually listened when I complained about the projects and the arguments Taylor and I had in between. Nick was really keeping up his word for the most part

"Yeah. It's due tomorrow" I said

"So why are you carrying it today?" He asked

"Nick how many times do I have to explain it to you" I shook my head

"If I wantto get full marks I have to bring it in one day before the due date" I explained for the tenth time

"Isn't that a bit harsh?" He asked

"Have you met my teacher?" I asked sarcastically

"Thankfully no" he laughed

"Hey, so what about you?" I asked

"What about me?" He asked

"How's the first month back?" I asked

"Eh kinda disappointed to be honest. I was sort of expecting a parade in my honor when I walked into the school" he joked causing me to smile and roll my eyes

"We're sorry you didn't get the royal treatment, your highness," I said before I got a text

*Taylor⚛- Did you remember the project?*

*Yeah*

*Taylor⚛- Good where are you?*

*I'm almost at school. Where are you*

*Taylor⚛- I just got here*

*Is she there yet?*

*Taylor⚛- she's always here I'm seriously beginning to think she sleeps here*

*😂😂😂 Wouldn't be surprised*

I sent laughing aloud as well

"Who is it?" Nick asked

"It's Taylor. He asked if I had to the project" I answered

"So why are you laughing?" He asked

"Just an inside joke," I said

"If you say so," he said as he pulled into the parking lot before getting out and opening the door for me

"Thank you," I said getting out before he closed the door

"Are you walking me to class?" I asked

"Sure" he smiled before his phone went off. He looked and his smile dimmed

"Um.." he said 

"Um, what?" I glared at him 

"Sorry, something came up. I have to leave" he said

"Nick" I cautioned

"Don't worry I'll come back. I'm just gonna check up on someone" he reassured me

"Okay and," I said

"And be back before the last bell rings" he continued

"Fine I'll see you in English," I said

"What period is that again?" he said

"It's Wednesday. So it's the first period, then you have math" I reminded

"I keep forgetting those stuff. Luckily I have such a smart girlfriend" he said planting a quick kiss on my cheek 

"So where are you going?" I asked

"It's a bit personal," he said

"So you can't tell me?" I said annoyed

"I would if I could. Can't you just trust me?"

"Fine but you better be back before classes start," I said

"I promise I will. Love you" he said kissing my lips before entering the car and driving away leaving me only to sigh. This was not the first time Nick had done something like this. He kept his promise from a month ago except when it comes to this. He misses school and cuts classes quite a bit and he doesn't tell me where he goes and what he is doing. He also drops whatever he's doing whenever his other phone rings. Nick often carried two phones which I found weird because he only gave me the number for one

"Hey Sophie" I heard Libby's voice call out from behind me

"Libbs" I said turning around to see her and the guys walking up to me

"Hey what's up" I said

"Not much" the guys said

"Was that Nick awhile ago?" Libby asked

"Yeah" I said

"Where is he going?" she asked

"He said he has something to take care of before school" I said

"Like what?" Libby asked

"It's personal" I said

"So you don't know" she scoffed rolling her eyes

"Of course I know. He's going to check on someone"

"Who?" she asked

"Um.."

"You don't know, do you?" she rolled her eyes

"What's this about Libbs? Whats with the attitude" I asked 

"Carlos, can you go to class without me I need to have a girl to girl with Sophie" Libby said

"Kay. Let's go Carl. I'll see you in class" Carlos said walking off with Carl beside him 

"Okay girl look. I know Nick's been trying really hard lately to be a good boyfriend and all and get why you're guilting yourself into being so trusting because of the whole lying about kissing James thing but you can't seriously tell me you're not even a little bit curious about what he's doing and where he's going" she said

"No because I don't wanna pry into his personal life" She said

"You've been dating for four years Soph. You should already know everything about his personal life already" she argued

" I don't wanna talk about this anymore. I'm going to class" I said not having anything to say

"Yeah me too" she said before we walked away in opposite directions

(James)

Having just finished texting Sophie I walked into the class to see the teacher behind her desk head down in her work

"Good morning Mister Taylor" she said as I walked to my seat

"Good morning Miss" I said before my phone buzzed so I took it out and saw Betty's caller ID

*Betty💝😍- hey you already at school*

*Yeah why?*

*Betty💝😍- I got in accident a while ago. My bike was wrecked*

*how did that happen?*

*Betty💝😍- It's a long story*

*Are you okay? Do you want me to pick you up?*

*Betty💝😍- Would you please?*

*Okay. Just wait a little okay. I'll be right there. Mind sending me the location*

*Betty💝😍- Yeah sure. Thanks James* I read before I sighed and got up

"Mister Taylor where are you going?"

"Sorry miss. But Betty's asked me to pick her up. She said something happened to her bike" I said

"Okay but if you don't make it back before the first bell you'll be late" she said

"I know" I said before I walked out.

I made my way to the car and saw Sophie walking towards me

(Sophie)

'Damn it! Libby has me doubting him. No I can't he's been trying his best for the passed month. The least I can do is trust him' I thought as I walked down the halls 

"Hey Vortex" a familiar voice said snapping me out of my daze

"Oh hey Taylor" I said looking up at him my eyes stuck at his soft lips as he said something

"Sophie. Sophie!" he called again

"Huh? Did you say something?" I asked

"Not really I just asked if you're going to class" He asked

"Yeah but where are you going?" I asked

"To pick up Betty" he said and just then I felt my chest tighten.

"Oh and why are you going to pick her up. I thought she had a bike" I said

"She does but she got in accident"

"And what does that have to do with you?" I asked

"Her bike got wrecked so I'm going to help her out" he answered

"So why did she call you and not a tow truck" I bickered

"I'm pretty sure she did but I don't think a tow truck would carry her to school" he said

"And what about an uber?" I asked

"Maybe she doesn't want to waste money. Why are you even asking so many questions?"

"I'm just curious" I shrugged

"I mean of all the people she could call why did she have to call you?" I continued

"I don't have time for this Sophie. I have to be back before the first bell" He said

"Whatever see you in class" I said before I walked away

'What was that just now. I sounded like a jealous girlfriend' I thought as I made my way to class

(James)

"What was that about?" I said as I got into my car and drove off. Driving as quickly as legally possible until I spotted her standing by the side of the school near the elementary school

"Hey anyone call an uber" I joked pulling up in front of her

"Hey what took so long?" She asked with a smile

"Sorry I was talking to Sophie for a second" I said

"Don't worry about it. I'm just happy for the ride" she said before she entered the car

"So what exactly happened to your bike?" I asked driving away

"Oh it crashed" she repeated

"Are you really okay?" I asked concerned

"I already told you I'm fine. I wasn't the one driving and I jumped off and rolled luckily only getting a few scarps"

"So where's your bike?" I asked

"The tow truck took it a while ago" she said

"Cool. So when are you getting it back?" I asked

"In a couple of days or so" she said

"Cool so are you going to do be taking the bus then?" I asked

"Well I was kind of hoping a certain genius would offer to be my chauffeur for the time" she said playfully

"Sure. My scheduled is a lot more free now that detention is over but you should know I'm at school pretty early in the mornings" I said

"Oh yeah that's fine"

"Okay. I'll pick you up at five starting tomorrow" I said

"Five?" she said and I just nodded

"I still can't believe it's been a month already" she said

"Yeah I think we should do something to celebrate" I said

"And what do you have in mind?" she asked pressing against me

"Um... Dinner maybe... if you're interested I mean" I said my cheek turning a small shade of pink

"You're so cute when you're shy. I'd love to have dinner with you" she said making my lips curve into a silly smile

"Thank you. I'll pick you up at eight. You won't regret it I swear" I said.

(Sophie)

The school day had just ended and I was on my way to the bus stop when Nick pulled up beside me on the sidewalk

"Psst beautiful" he said 

"Hello. Can I help you" I said still walking

"Yeah. I'm looking for directions" he said

"Where to?" I asked

"Your heart" he said winking at me

"Wow such a cheesy pick up line. Does that work for you?" I said

"I try" he said

"Unfortunately I have a boyfriend" she said

"And what would you say if he was here" Nick asked

"I would ask him why he wasn't at school today" I said no longer playful as I stopped walking and glared at him

"And he probably would say that the business he had ran a little later than expected and that he's very sorry" he said still giving playful smile

"And what business is that exactly?" I asked

"Come on Sophie. You know that's private" he said

"Private, Nick? We've been dating for four years and I don't even now where you are half of time especially these passed two years" I said 

"Four years?" he said as if he realized something before he started laughing

"What's so funny?" I asked

"I can't believe I forgot. Now I know why you're so upset" he said confusing me

"Okay babe. I'll make it up to you I swear. But you'll have to walk home on your own okay" he said

"What?" I said confused before he left

"The hell is he on about?"

I was utterly confused but I had piano lessons so I decided to just leave it at that.

(James)

"Man I'm tired" I said leaning back in my chair. I had been working on my A.I program ever since I got home from school. I had planned to only spend a few minutes looking over the code but once again I lost track of time

"Wonder what time is it?" I asked stretched before I noticed Goddard whimpering by my feet

"Feeding time already huh Goddard" I said as I looked at my wristwatch and saw that it was eight o' five (8:05)

"Oh my god I'm late" I said as I rushed out of the lab and to my house after getting Goddard his food

I charged into the bathroom and showered as best I could in three minutes then I looked for something to wear.

I put on my red t shirt and blue ripped jeans with a white jayz before putting on a black leather jacket with a sliver atom symbol over the crest pocket, slapping on a chrome watch and rushing out of my room 

I grabbed my house keys and fresh flowers from my mother's garden before I started looking for my car keys but when I looked at where it normally was I saw a note

"Yo J. I'm borrowing your car for a date with my Shinning one for our anniversary, sincerely Carlos" I read

"Damn it. I told you I was going to use it. I even left a note" I said before a noticed something else

"P.S. sorry for your note" I read before sighing and took up my old car keys.

It was something I built using spare parts of Dad's old cars during middle school and even drove around town. I stopped using it freshman year because Dad bought me a new car after his promotion. I don't know if it's still working because I hadn't checked it in four years. 

'Oh well' I shrugged jumping into the car and driving out. I drove quickly to Betty's house pressing the doorbell and wait for about five minutes before the door opened and a woman resembling Betty, but with had long brown curly hair, came out. I had guessed she was her mother so I greeted her

"Good evening ma'am is Betty here?" I asked a bit embarrassed

"Yes. I'm her mother and you are?" she asked

"Um...I'm James Taylor. I'm a friend" I said

"Oh James you've grown so big. It's feels like I haven't seen you in forever"

"Um thank... you" I said confused. I mean I was sure this was the first time I had met her. She never once came to the elementary school or middle school so I had no idea where she would have seen me before 

"You are friends with Betty?" she asked looking at me oddly. It was as if she doubt the very possibility

"Yes I'm actually here to pick her up" I said

"Oh really? I wouldn't think she'd have a friend like you. Especially with her rowdy behavior and her social circle" she said

"That's enough Beth" Betty said slightly shoving her out of her way and walking over to me 

"Oh Betty I was about to talk to James here about some of your other friends" she said

"I can see that but don't you have somewhere to be. Preferably a ditch" she said bluntly

"Oh yes" she said taking out her keys and walking pass me

"Now Betty don't screw this one up. Like you always do" her mother said before getting in her car and driving away

"I'm sorry about that" Betty said

"No problem. You look amazing by the way" I said. She was dressed in a shoulder strap shirt, high waist tight pants and a pair of red vans

"Thanks you look great yourself. Love the perfume" she said

"T-t-thanks. Here" I said trying to hide my blush as I gave her the flowers getting a giggle in return

"Shall we get going?" She asked as I turned and showed her to the car

"Um... What happened to the other one?" She asked

"Yeah Carlos borrowed my car without telling me so I had to pull out this old thing" I said opening the door for her

"Wow I wanted to get a ride in it back in middle school. It was much cooler back then though" she said getting into the car

"Sorry. I should have kept my keys with me" I said as I entered the car

"No it's fine. I was only messing with you" she giggled 

"Oh" I smiled starting it up

"Let's go" I smiled 

"Okay" she said as I pulled out of the parking lot

"So where are we going" She asked

"I was planning on a picnic at the park"

"Oh the park" she said disappointed

"What's wrong?" I asked noticing the change of expression

"Nothing it's fine. Let's get going" she said before I sighed then an idea crossed my mind

I gripped unto the steering wheel and made a sudden U-turn.

"What are you doing?" she asked having been whipped about due to her lack of a seatbelt

"Sorry abour that. I was just thought of a change of destination" I said

"To where?"

"It's a surprise" I smirked at her

(Sophie)

"Can you believe him Libby? Not only did he not show up for school like he promised. He ditched me for no reason at all with no explanation" I complained over the phone

"Okay girl. I know you need to rant and normally I'd be all for it but I have a date to get ready for" Libby said

"Oh yeah. Sorry, I'm just so upset" I said

"Sorry to ditch ya girl but I think Carlos' here later" she said before hanging up leaving me to sigh

"Great" I sighed as I walked to the window and looked out to see Taylor rushing to put on clothes

"Where is he rushing to?" I asked myself as he put on some expensive perfume

'Wait expensive perfume. Does he have a date? No way. Who would go on a date with him?' I thought before something or someone came to mind

'No no. No way he has a date with her" I said as I watched him leave his room then ten minutes later drive out in his old car.

"Wow I can't believe he still has that thing" I smiled thinking back at all the places we use to drive to in that thing as well as the times Taylor's Mom had to come collect us from the holding cell. Having been too busy reminiscing then I hadn't heard the doorbell ringing over and over again. It was the sound of my alarm going off that snapped me out of thoughts in time to hear 

"SOPHIE! YOU HOME!" I heard Nick's voice scream out as I got up from the window and went to the door and saw him dressed in a nice black suit

"Nick? What are you doing here" I said shocked

"I'm sorry I know you're angry. I know I forgot Sophie but I came to make it up to you"

"Make it up to me?"

"Yeah I got us reservations at La Flèche D'amour de Cupidon" he said surprising me even more

"NO WAY!" I squealed excited. This was the most romantic restaurant in town and one of the most expensive. It was second only to the Midnight

"Yep. Now I think you should get dressed" he said handing me a shopping bag

"What's all of this for?" I asked as I took out a sparkly red dress and beautiful gold earrings

"Wow" I said entranced the beautiful shimmer of the diamond necklace

"Hurry up and get change. We're going to be late" he said with a smile

"Yep I'm going right now" I said heading towards the stairs

"Oh and Sophie" he said stopping me

"Yeah what is it?" I asked

"Happy Anniversary" he said before it hit me.

Today was October 2. The day we told everyone we were dating but I didn't remember that despite all the planning I had done over the summer. I had forgotten our four year anniversary. I was stuck in place.

I had spent the last month so focused on my projects with James that it completely slipped my mind. I had marked it on my calander but I hadn't had time to look at my calander in the mornings so I mostly just rely on the books I had packed the night before to determine what day it was. 

"Um Sophie" Nick's voice said snapping me out of my thoughts

"Huh sorry. I'll be down in a minute" I said as I ran up the stairs an apologetic look in my eyes

(James)

"Well James I have to hand it to you. You know how to impress a girl" she said as we stood on the private beach. 

"I aim to please. Speaking of which let's start the picnic" I said laying out a blanket and putting the basket down.

Soon I took out all the delicious food my mom cooked and put the roses in a vase putting it in the center of the blanket beside of the campaign. This was the non alcoholic champagne because I was a incredibly light weight that got drunk off of even the most minute of alcohol levels. Which a sip rendering me wasted

"Wow fancy" she said before I threw out the campaign in glasses.

We sat, ate and drank while music that Libby hooked me up with played.

After packing up we laid on the blanket watching the sunset.

"How did you find this place?" she asked laying on my chest while I had my arms were around her smiling

"I was looking for research materials when I came across this place. It was privately owned so I had to use the entirety of my funding to rent out this place for the summer" I told her

"Wow aren't you the big spender?" she joked

"Too bad it was all a waste. I didn't find what I was looking for and had to return back empty handed" 

"I'm sure your investors weren't happy about that. They must have been pretty upset" she chuckled 

"I'm sure they were but they didn't show it. Compare to having my name attached to their campus what's a few hundred thousand"

"It must be pretty good to be you" she said

"Why do you say that?" I asked taking a sip of champagne

"You're really smart. You don't have to worry about passing an failing classes, you have great friends, good looks, loving happily married parents and colleges are fighting to get you to join. While must kids our age are trying to save up for college you have colleges paying you" she said with an envious smile

"I guess I do have life rather easy" I smiled

"Yeah, you can thank that big brain of yours" she joked 

"Don't know what I'd do without it"

"But seriously what would you do?" she asked

"Huh?" 

"If you don't become a scientist what would you be? Or what would you like to be?" she asked

"Hm?" I said. This was a real head scratcher. What would I be if I weren't a genius

"I would probably become a teacher" I threw out a random profession

"I could see it now. Professor Taylor walking into class" she laughed

"What about you? What do you want to become?" I asked her

"Hm..I want to become an actress" she said 

"That's a surprise? Why?" I asked

"To get rich and famous" 

"Really?" 

"What? Were you expecting some deep psychological reason" she chuckled

"Kinda" I chuckled

"What? Something like I want to be an actress so I can be someone else. Even if just for a little while. I wanted to be someone else. Maybe it would be better than being me" she said. Though she had been smiling when she said that, her eyes matching those of a abandoned puppy revealed her inner thoughts

"What's so bad about being you? I rather like you now" I said

"You've only seen the good parts" she said

"And I liked it" I told her getting a genuine smile

"You have a beautiful smile" I told her moving closer to her

"Thank you" she said moving closer to me. Just as we were about to kiss she moved her head

"The sun's going down" she said as she got up off the blanket

"oh yeah you're right" I said after a cough to hide my embarrassment 

"So what's next?" She asked

"It's getting late. I think we should head home" I said getting up as her smile turned into one of disappointment

"Unless you have another idea?" I asked. Smiling again she started talking off her clothes. All her clothes!

"It's such a beautiful night and we have an entire beach to ourselves. It would be a shame to go back without going for a little swim" she said taking off her bra.

I wanted to reject but my words of protest got dropped from my mouth along with my jaw. Skinny dipping. She really wanted to go skinny dipping. Oh my God am I dreaming? Skinny dipping with Betty Ann Turner. That had to be a dream right. But if it was I didn't want to wake up

"Come on James" she said as she put her hands on my chest

"Don't tell me you don't want to swim with me" she said as her hands made its way to my jacket and pulled it off before making her way to the hem of my shirt and pulled it over my head before wrapping her hands around my neck and threw it on the sand then she moved slowly from my back to the buckle of my belt before she took it then my pants off.

I tried protesting but her breast were pressed up against my chest so I couldn't focus on protest and I was being completely honest I didn't want to. I just stood there until she tried taking off my underwear

"Okay okay that can stay" I said. My face now a deep shade of crimson

"Do you really want to go back in soggy underwear?" She asked

"I don't see you worrying about it" I said thinking she wouldn't take off her underwear

"I guess it's only fair" she said as she stepped back and took off her underwear then threw it in my chest and I caught it

'No way!' I thought as I stared at it. It was like I was looking at proof of extraterrestrial life. I just couldn't believe it was actually there

"This way James" she said as I looked up to see her naked figure enter the water.

And with that the last bit of my self-control went out the proverbial window and I charged into the water swimming over to where she was and as soon as I did she wrapped her arms around my head. We were waist deep in water holding unto each other

"I knew you would come around" she said

"With the invitation you gave me I couldn't exactly say no" I said blushing as she smirked and gripped my hair moving closer to my ear

"Since I got you hot and bothered. Let me help you cool off" she whispered before pushing my head under the water for about a minute before letting go. I got up and spat the water out of my mouth and glared playfully at the laughing beauty in front of me

"You're so gonna get it Turner" I said

"You'll have to catch me first" she said as she swam away.

I chased after her and when I caught her I lifted her up and threw her in the water before pulling her up.

With my hands around her waist I stared into her brown sparkling eyes as the water dripped from our bodies then the distance slowly started closing them she wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me closer connecting our lips.

We kissed passionately for three minutes before breaking for air.

We just stared at each other with smiles on our faces before a wave crashed against us submerging us in the water. Betty started laughing after we resurfaced

"Getting a little hands, aren't we?" She laughed playfully but I just got a confused look

"That's not me" 

"I can feel your hand" she chuckled

"My hands are on your waist" I said

"Then what's going up my leg" she said worriedly

I dipped into the water and saw a snake the size of my hand wrapped around her leg making its way up. After seeing the snake I went back up

"Okay Betty. Don't freak out. There's a snake on your leg. I'm going to go down and see if I can get it off. Don't move" I said before she nodded then I smiled as I dived down and grabbed unto the snake

'I hope this thing isn't poisonous' I thought before yanking it off her leg and rushing to the top. The snake wiggled and wormed in my hands before I felt its fang go into my right hand. But I finally got a good grip so I threw it as far as I far. I started swimming back to shore but soon found my head getting lighter. I was dizzy and my eyes were blurry. I'm not sure what happened but I blacked out just before I reached the shore

"James" I heard Betty's voice say before feeling something soft on my lips then a force pushing on my chest making in spit out the water in my lungs before I looked at Betty who let out a relieved sigh

"Betty" I said after my coughing fit

"About time you woke up I was getting worried" she said

"Did you just give me mouth to mouth" I said smiling as I touched my lips

"Yeah" she said as I looked down to see that my hand was bandaged

"What happened to my hand?" I asked

"The snake was poisonous. So I had to suck out the venom" she said

"So you find my first aid kit" I said

"Yeah" she said

"Yeah I think we should head home now" I said as I got up then we went back in the car

"You're gonna have to be the one to drive. I still can't move that much" I said. Wow the venom in that snake is really potent. I should try collecting a sample. It spreads really fast

"Sure" she said before we got in the car. Midway to town the car started making strange noises

"What is that?" she asked

"I don't know" I said before the car suddenly stopped

"Oh great" I said sarcastically

"I'm guessing that's bad" she said

"We might need to call someone" I sighed. I normally would be able to do this myself but considering my current situation that was still impossible. Soon the repairman came taking a look at the engine

"This is probably the worst date you've ever been on right" I said laying in Betty's lap in the backseat

"Let's see. I had to save my date's life twice. One from drowning then from snake venom. That's a different type of kissing and sucking than I'm use to. And to top it all of I probably got sand in places they really shouldn't be" she said

"So worst date ever?" I said grimly

" I also got to drink champagne as well as stay on a beach by myself and who knows maybe next time we can fulfill a fantasy of mine. Plus I've had worst." she said with a wink

"Next time? There's gonna be more dates"

"Not really dates but date like outings" she clarified

"I'm glad to hear that but the fact that you had worse dates scares me" I said before she giggled giving me another kiss

"Hey lovebirds. The car's fix" he said tapping the window

"Thank you" I laughed paying him

"You should go back to drive" I said after one more kiss. She went back to the driver's seat directly after driving us straight back to town

"Thank you for the dinner. I had a great time" she said

"I did too" I said

"Well I guess see you tomorrow James" she said before she walked away

"Is that really how we're gonna end tonight" I sighed

"I was planning on given you a kiss but I think you've already exceeded the limit" she teased

"Come on that's not fair" I chuckled as she walked away swinging her hips as she made her way to the door then she opened it walked inside. I sighed looking at the door longing until it opened and she blew me a kiss before winkng and closing the door

"See ya" I said smiling like a buffoon before jumping in my car. Dancing in my seat the drive back to my house

(Sophie)

The night had been going wonderfully. Nick and I were sitting in the restaurant talking about our day when suddenly his phone went off with one look his smile went away

"Um...Who is it?" I asked

"No one" he said hanging up

"Okay" I said before the ringtone went off again

"No one is really insistent" I said passive aggressively

"It's fine. It's probably something trivial" he said

"Doesn't seem like something trivial. Who is it?" I said

"Yeah it's just a friend" he said hanging up again then the person called again

"Come on. Take a damn hint" he cursed

"Nick it's okay. You can answer the phone"

"You sure" he asked

"Yes, the person won'y stop caslling so it must be something important. So you can go talk to them" I said

"I'll make it quick I promise" he said as he got up and answered the phone before walking out.

So there I was stuck in the restaurant fiddling my thumbs for five minutes when suddenly I got a message. Taking up my phone I clicked on Instagram message and the first thing I saw on Betty's page was Taylor and Betty taking a selfie on the beach on her story. My blood was boiling but I didn't know why. You know what I did. It wasn't jealousy. Why would I be jealous of Taylor? I didn't care that he got himself a girfriend. But did it seriously have to be her. There's so many better girls in the town and he chose Betty. It really pisses me off. Before we were dating he was practically a dog drooling over a bone everytime he saw and some part of me knew he had feelings for her even when we were dating. Now he's dating her so that proves it

"Sophie. Sophie" Nick's voice said knocking me out of my daze

"Huh. Sorry I spaced out" I said

"You've been doing that a lot lately. Is something up?" he asked

"No I'm fine. I guess classes have made me a little stress" I said 

"Okay. Then maybe you should take more breaks. Let the genius handle the projects. All work and no play makes Sophia a dull girl" he joked

"Coming from the guy that refuses to go to school" I said

"It was just one day Soph"

"Yeah it was just one day last time. But then that turned into one week then one month and before long it was the whole semester. After that you stopped coming to school all together. You know just because your parents have money doesn't mean you can slack off your whole life Nick"

"Look I'm sorry okay. Can we just stop talking about this. I promise I'll be at school tomorrow. Bright and early"

"Whatever. How was your call?" I asked

"It's okay. It wasn't anything important" he said with a smile

"So who was it?" I asked

"One of my friends" he said

"Oh a friend. Would this friend happen to be a girl?" I asked

"Yeah" he said eating a piece of steak

"Is she good looking?" I asked cutting a piece

"I guess why?" He asked nonchalantly cutting another piece his steak

"Oh no reason" I said eating the piece I had cut

"Wait. Sophia Aurora Vortex are you jealous?" He asked a smug smile

"Hmph as if" I said taking another bite from the steak

"I mean I understand why you would be. She is insanely hot" He said

"Hot?" I said

"Yeah she gets mistaken for a model all the time" he said

"A model huh" I said

"She has such a great figure. Big breast, slim waist and a phat ass-" he said before realizing he was doing too much

"Why did you stop? Please carry on" I said in a threatening tone

"You know now that I think about it. She isn't all that beautiful. Especially when I compare her to you" he said

"Mm hmm. Nice save lover boy" I said before a waiter came up to us

"Is it time for dessert all ready?" Nick asked

"Um yes. But there's someone here to see you" he said before Nick looked behind me then growled angrily

"Damn it" he said under his breath

"Just give me a minute please" he said before he got up and walked out the restaurant once again

"Um Madam" he said

"Not married" I said

"Uh?" he said

"You say Madam when the person is married otherwise it's mademoiselle" I explained

"I'm sorry I didn't do well in French class at all. I'm actually just filling in for a guy" he explained

"Oh it's okay. I was just pointing something out" I said

"Thanks a lot so would you like to eat your dessert here or to go?" The waiter asked

"Here please" I said before he left

I turned around and saw Nick arguing with a blonde girl.

She looked a little older than us I'd say about a year or two. She looked to be a size two so needless to say she had a slim waist but surprisingly enough she had big asset in front and behind. She was exactly as Nick described. The perfect example of an hour glass figure and her beautiful face made her even more attractive. About a few minutes later he gave her money then a kiss on the cheek. I sighed as I called the waiter over

"Sorry about this but could I change that to go please" I said before calling an Uber

"Sure" he said as he went back to the chef.

About a minute later Nick came back

"Sorry about that? She just wanted to borrow some money" He said taking his seat

"No it's okay" I said getting up and taking up my purse

"Where are you going?" I asked

"I'm getting a little tired. I should be heading home. I have school tomorrow" I said as the waiter came back and gave me the dessert

"Thanks a lot" I said

"Okay at least let me drive you home" he said

"No I'm fine. I already called an uber" I said as I started heading for the door.

Nick chased after me after random throwing money down in the table uncaringly and unknowingly leaving a rather sizable tip

"Come on Sophie let me drive you home" he said

"I'm okay" I said

"Is it about Vanessa? Listen she's just a friend" he said

"It's not about her. I just have school early tomorrow" he said

"Then let me drive you home" he said

"Nick I'm fine" I said

"You'll reach home faster" he said before a car pulled up beside me

"Are you Sophie Vortex?" He asked

"Yeah that's me" I said as I opened the door

"Fine" Nick said before he walked to the driver's seat window and gave him a hundred dollar bill

"Make sure she gets home okay and you can give the change to her" he said before leaning up allowing the driver to drive away

He drove me back to my house and started to give me the change

"You can keep it" I said as I got out and he drove away then I looked across the street and saw Taylor parking the old car on his lawn with a goofy smile on his face. 

"Hey Taylor" I said making my way over to him 

"Vortex what are you still doing up?" He asked

"I just got back from a date" I said

"Really. Did Nick get a new car again?" He asked

"No I took an uber" I said

"Yikes guessing the date didn't go so well" he said

"It was fine until he kissed a girl in front of me" I said

"Did he really do that?" He asked

"Well technically it was behind my back and it was just a little peck on the cheek" I admitted

"Sophie that's nothing to be mad about" he laughed

"You think I'm overreacting?" I asked

"Yeah" he nodded

"Whatever so how was your...date" I said chucking out the last word

"It was okay I guess" he said with a perverse grin making me glare at him

"Okay huh" I said

"Yeah I mean we went on a picnic" he said

"That's all?" I said

"Um, we kissed I guess" he said

"Like a little peck" I asked

"Um, do you remember how we kissed last month?" He asked. I tensed up a bit at that time

"Vortex. You okay?" He asked 

"Yeah I'm fine. I'm just surprised. You guys must be pretty serious huh? I asked

"I don't know. I think we can go there. I hadn't felt this way since...you know. I feel like with Betty I can finally start a relationship. You understand what I mean?" he said

"Yeah yeah. Totally, I felt the same way when I started seeing Nick"

"Are you really okay Soph? You're shaking" he said

"I'm probably just cold. I think I'm coming down with something. I just need to get home okay. School tomorrow an everything. You know how Mrs. Jones gets" I said

"Actually there's no class tomorrow Mrs. Jones will be out" he said

"Oh I still need to finish up my other homework" I lied rushing across the street

"Bye" he called out but I didn't respond I just entered my house slamming the door behind me for sliding down in putting my face in my lap as tears ran down my eyes
