KISSED BY A WITCH

Chapter 1

After the incident that happened when I was only ten years old, I was no longer allowed to mingle with other kids. My parents deemed it necessary that I would be homeschooled because they feared that other children would brand me as a witch.

Growing up, I only had my cousin Vanessa as a friend but she lived in the city with her parents and it’s very seldom that they would visit my hometown. Sometimes, Carter and Matthew would drop by to say hello, but their visits were usually quick, and they were a few years older than me.

I was almost convinced that I was cursed but when I recalled saving Simon that day, I was grateful for the gift or the curse whatever it was.

Simon was my bodyguard and he once died for trying to shield me from the bullets of a lunatic person. There was no regret on my part, however, things would have been different if my parents didn’t witness it…

A deep sigh escaped from my lips as I drove the Camaro outside the resort and I felt bad that I had to deceive Simon but I had no choice. I got tired of hiding, and I wanted to break free! I wanted to explore the outside world which was denied to me for a long time.

I was driving slowly along the curved road because it was prone to an accident when I saw a car lost its control and spiraled above the air. The sound when the car hit the ground was deafening and I shivered in terror and shock. As I stared at the twisted body of the vehicle, my hands trembled in fear and it took me a moment to calm down and realized that someone probably needed my help.

Hurriedly, I got out of the Camaro and went to the greatly damaged car to check the driver and its passenger if there was any, however, the car was empty when I got there. Was it a remote-controlled vehicle? Impossible, I thought, and after I mustered all the courage needed to be a hero, I searched nearby and muffled my scream when I found a bloody person sitting behind a big rock. I couldn’t help but grimaced at his appearance but I had to check his pulse and breathing. “Oh my God!” I tried to check again and when it’s confirmed that the person was dead, I backed down and cried. It was scary to be with a dead person in a remote area.

However, as I kept staring at the dead man, an idea occurred to me. All of a sudden, I started to have doubts if I could revive a dead person. What if it wasn’t me who brought Simon back to life? What if I have been living my life differently because of a mere assumption by the people closed to my heart?

It happened only once, and an opportunity to verify its accuracy was in front of me!

I expressed a deep sigh before I took out the handkerchief from the back pocket of my jeans and used it to clean the bloody face of the stranger.

I groaned inwardly as I stared at the stranger’s mouth, and slowly, I moved closer towards him and kissed him. My eyes remained close while I waited for the result.

A few seconds have passed but nothing happened, but still, I waited patiently. Maybe I didn’t kiss him right, I thought.

His hair was wet with the blood coming out from his injured head but it didn’t stop me to hold into his hair and pulled him closer to my body. I was sucking on his lower lip when a hand pushed me and my eyes widen at the realization that I was really special – I’m a witch!

“Who are you?” The stranger asked and he tried to get away from me. I could tell that he was scared. Who wouldn’t? For sure, he expected to die from that accident, and yet, it didn’t happen and he was good as new regardless of his bloody face.

I pinched my arm to check if I wasn’t dreaming and when I felt the pain, I tried to get close to the stranger to see if he was not a figment of my imagination. “You are alive!” I exclaimed, and he was shocked and checked his body to verify what I told him.

“What have you done to me? I clearly remembered taking my last breath earlier, what happened? Who are you?” He asked and fear was written all over his face as he moved far from me. He must have assumed that I was from another dimension or another world and I couldn’t blame him for assuming the worst scenario.

“I’m not going to hurt you,” I assured him and tried to reach out to his hands, however, he sprinted away from me without looking back.

Alone in the slope, I stared into nothingness as I processed the fact that I was different. I felt like crying. I was disheartened to confirm that I could never have a normal life like Vanessa or everyone else.

I was doomed to live alone forever!

I kept asking myself whether I would proceed with my plan to explore the outside world because, to be honest, I was discouraged.

As I was arguing with myself whether to leave town or not, I heard some footsteps coming towards me. Terrified at the intruder, I tried to hide behind the large rock and closed my eyes so I could control my breathing. I didn’t dare to make any sound that would alert him and stayed motionless until… he found me!

“Are you hurt?” He asked, but my brain refused to function well and just stared at the tall man in front of me. He had an athletic build and I was instantly attracted at the visible veins on his arms as he tried to touch me. He was lean and muscular and I couldn’t stop staring at him.

Before his hands were able to touch me, I stood up and said, “I’m fine.” How could I let a gorgeous man touch me when we were alone and secluded? No way, it was too dangerous to let a stranger get close to me. “Just leave me alone,” I ordered.

“Are you sure? The car was wrecked and heavily damaged, it can be internal bleeding, please don’t move yet.” He told me to stay put, but my heart raced like crazy as he continued to check my body for possible injuries.

“I said I’m fine,” I snapped at him. “It wasn’t me who got into the accident, it’s someone else, and he already left,” I told him the truth or he wouldn’t stop examining my body. The man arched his brows and narrowed his eyes at me as if he refused to believe me. “He went that way,” I pointed the direction where the other man left in a hurry.

I wanted him to leave asap because there was something in him that made me uncomfortable. His eyes spoke volume and there was a devilish glint on them when he looked at me. He seemed to suspect something and I started to worry if he had witnessed how I helped the other man earlier. When he refused to take a step away from me even if I already told him where the other man went, I prepared myself to run away from him.

“You’re a witch, aren’t you?
