Awake at Last

I woke up to light shining through an unfamiliar window. I felt like my mind was so cloudy, I couldn't remember anything, especially how I ended up in this odd room. I yawned and tried to get myself up out of bed but I got really light headed and fell back down into the bed. I giggled a little bit not really understanding what was going on.

I tried to remember how I got here but nothing was coming through, the last thing I remembered was getting ready for the party and then its blank. I shake my head trying to get my mind cleared and hopefully getting back some memories with it, but sadly nothing happened.

I sat up in the bed and looked around to see if I could figure out where I was. There was unfamiliar furniture all over the room, but it was a nice black that matched the dark carpet and dark walls. I was on a huge king sized bed, and the room was just as huge.

I looked down at myself and saw that I was in a shirt that I had never seen before. It was long enough to cover my underwear so I knew that it had to belong to a male, which made me worry a little bit about where I was.

I was about to try and get out of the bed again but the bedroom door started to open. I remained still as a tall muscular man that I had no memory of ever seeing before walked in.

"Good morning mate! How did you sleep last night?" The man said as he walked into the room carrying a tray of food that smelt delicious.

I didn't know how to answer him so I stayed quiet, focusing on what was on the tray more than him. My stomach growled loudly showing that I was starving. I didn't want to cause much of a scene so I sat back and just watched the unknown man while he walked towards me with the confidence and power surrounding him, trying to figure out what was going on or at least remember how I got here.

He placed the tray down in front of me and looked at me expectantly. I looked back at him until I felt like my stomach was eating itself and I stopped looking at him to look down at a plate full of more than I think I could eat at one point. There were eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, a croissant, some hash browns, and even an omelet. I don't have any idea how they were all still steaming fresh, and could fit onto the plate.

"I didn't know what you wanted, so I requested a variety that the help was very proud to make for their Luna." He said with pride.

I'm not quite sure what to think about what he said, what help? At my pack, we didn't have any help unless we hired someone, is that what he was talking about. I could already tell that this was going to be a huge change for me to get through, and not just because I didn't remember a single thing about how I got here or who he was.

"Thank you." I said quietly, as I started to pick at my food slowly so that he didn't think I was a pig.

We sat there in silence for I don't know how long before he had a slight smile on his face and he looked at my face, catching my attention away from my plate of food.

"You don't remember the party, do you?" He asked with a knowing look in his eyes shining.

"Sadly no." I said embarrassed but honestly.

"I figured, you and your friend were drinking so much that you were everywhere, I was surprised that you could even walk for a while there."

I could hear the humor in his voice but I didn't want to look up and confront it so I kept my eyes glued to the plate.

"That can happen." Was the only thing I could think of to say?

"After you almost fell of the dancefloor onto an unsuspecting little old lady, we decided that it was time for me to take you home, and well, here we are."

I was ready for the conversation to be over already, I was so embarrassed by my actions that I just wanted to shove this information that I thankfully could not remember, into the very depths of my mind.

"I figured that you wouldn't remember much since you slept through yesterday completely."

This made me perk up completely. I dropped my fork and my eyes shot to his face. I had never slept a whole day away before. I had no idea what would make me do that, and my lack of memories obviously didn't help me out any.

"What's the last thing that you remember?" He asks, as he places his hand on my knee causing little tingles.

"Honestly, getting ready for the party." My cheeks started to burn.

"That means that you don't remember when we met." He said with a bit of sadness in his voice.

"I'm sure it'll come to me eventually, we just need to be a little patient." I said placing my hand on his.

His face perked up a little at my words.

"Spoken like a true Luna. Just to kind of catch you up on things, I'm Josiah, and you are my mate." He had a giant smile on his face as he said so.

I couldn't help but bust out laughing. I hoped that this was a sign as to how our relationship was going to be. That even when we have a problem that is worthy of a situation, that could result in an argument and it didn't go that way. I really would love it if this is how things stayed.

We continued talking while I tried to eat my food as calmly and mannerly as possible even though I really could just scarf it all down and not worry about how ugly that looks to a man I just learned is my mate.

I know I was probably going a little over board with it but I really was just trying to be mindful of what he thought was appropriate. He said he has some 'help' so who knows how fancy smancy he really was.

I was just so excited that I finally had a mate, that there was nothing that I was going to do to jeopardize it.

"So, there's a bar-b-que that the pack is holding later this afternoon and I was wondering if you would like to accompany me to it." He asked when I had finished eating.

"Of course, I would!" I said without having to think about it.

What's better than finding out what your mates like than to see what kind of pack he's in.

"But, I'll only go if you tell me about the pack." I said trying to get as much information as I could.

"Well I'm Alpha of course, My Beta's name is Mateo, and we've been best friends since we were just pups, then there's Cooper, my Third in Command whose mate is Brooklyn, you'll like her, she's a sweet girl. The pack is the Northern Moon Pack, and we're pretty tough." The pride in his voice is almost overwhelming.

I was glad to know that he was so proud of his pack. Some Alpha's just take it for granted, but with as much pride as he had about the pack, I couldn't see how he was one of those awful Alphas that I had heard so many bad and scary things about growing up.

He brought me out of my thoughts as he raised his hand and gently whipped a piece of hair away from my face with the back of his hand causing me to slightly jump and slightly move away from him only out of fright. Something dark flickered in his eyes, but only for a second, causing me to question if I had really seen something there or not.

"Don't move away from me when I touch you!"

"I'm sorry, I just wasn't ready for it, you startled me." I said trying to defend myself.

"Just don't do it again."

I didn't know how to react to that. I honestly was just startled. I looked down at my lap that was still covered by the blanket since I hadn't yet gotten up from the bed. I let out a tiny sigh hoping that it just sounded like a slightly longer breath.

"I'm sorry."

"It's alright."

I didn't want him to try and touch me again or have another situation so I decided that it was time for me to get out of bed. I also had slept a whole 24 hours and more with hairspray in my hair.

"I'm just going to go take a shower." I said getting up out of bed, thankful that the shirt that I was in covered everything.

"It's the door on the right." Was the only response I got from him.

I just was thankful that it wasn't another hostel thing coming from him. I moved as quickly as I could to get into the bathroom. I didn't think about how it would look to him, me basically running away from him. I just knew that I needed some time to myself. This was all a lot to get through my head.

I didn't realize that I didn't have anything else to wear until I was already in the shower. I just figured that I would have to find something when I got out of the shower. I just needed to get away from Josiah.

I heard the bedroom door slam shut. I guess Josiah didn't like that I needed a few minutes to myself. I don't know how I was going to handle this. I hope things get easier.
