My Predicament ~angustiis meis

Walking into my favourite cafe, Carlo's, I moved towards my special spot in the

cafe. I flagged down the waitress, her name plate read; Paige. An interesting name.

"Hi, welcome to Carlo's, I am your waitress for today, what do I get you?" She smiled.

"Paige... you must be new here.." I missed smiling back at her.

"Yes miss" she smiled.

"I'll just have coffee, extra sweet and a side of vanilla cake" I recited my Usual to her.

She nodded, "it will be out in two minutes" with that she walked away.

I don't know what about Paige that drew me to her, she was just a regular teenaged girl,

average height, round face, bright optimistic eyes, I don't know exactly what

it was but I was really drawn to her.

"Here's your order, enjoy" she smiled again and walked away.

I guess she was this nice to everyone, but I was so drawn to her that I actually waited for her

shift to end. Or maybe I am just point blank crazy.

"Hey Paige!" I called her before I could stop myself. Yup I am crazy. She

turned and smiled, then I realized how stupid I looked right now, she didn't even know my name.

"Hi!" She greeted back cheerily.

"My name is Candace, but you can call me Candy..my friends call me Candy" I Babbled.

She laughed as she sat opposite me.

"Hope you don't think I'm crazy right now" I said laughing awkwardly. She shook her head all the while laughing.

"I want to be friends with you too Candy" she said now smiling.

We talked for a while, about everything.. I found out she was a student at the community

college, studying arts and crafts. It was really nice to know her, she was fun. We exchanged contacts with a promise of keeping in touch.

When I got home it was late, and surprisingly all my friends were sitted there.

"Hey guys!" I said hanging my coat.

They turned, "finally!, we have been here since forever".

"Something important happen?" I questioned taking a seat.

"Yeah, they cut off our electricity in that shitty apartment and it's freezing our asses off" Audrey started.

"We needed a place to crash till we pay off the bill" Sally finished.

Like regular college students, Audrey,Sally and I always looked for extra cash, unlike Annie, her

parents were super wealthy, she didn't need it. Luckily for me, her parents got her this luxurious

apartment, with a fridge and everything. But Audrey and Sally had to live in the shitty apartments

for a decent price, they decorated it well though, been there a couple of times.

"Could we stay her?" Audrey asked

"Of course we would, did you have any other place in mind? Cause I didn't, plus we already brought our stuff here" Sally said. I laughed, " What are friends for?"

" Uhm guys" I started nervously.

"I think I might be gay" I finished.

They looked at each other and burst out laughing,

"Phoenix really did a number on you, didn't he?" Sally tutted shaking her head.

"Oh no, it's not about Phoenix, it's this girl I met at Carlo's"

"And?" Annie prompted.

"I can't really explain it, but I was drawn to her, I even had her sit with me". I explained.

"Maybe you just wanted to talk to someone that wasn't us?"

Audrey offered.

"Where you attracted to her?" Sally asked, I shook my head 'No'.

"It wasn't attraction, just wanted to talk and follow her.. I'm not so sure" I supplied.

"Don't worry Candy, even if you are gay we would still support you." Audrey said smiling gently.

"If you are gay, don't fall in love with me please, I don't think I reject you, because I'm as straight

as a pole" Annie said doing a yoga post.

"I don't think I can see past the drools on your chin every morning to fall in Love with you Annie" I

said smiling sweetly, causing everyone apart from Annie to laugh, while she just scowled at me.

"Are you going to meet up with her again?" Annie asked.

"Yes, tomorrow"

They shared a look and shrugged.

"We'll come with"Sally said with an authoritative tone.

"Come tomorrow, we'll start separating toilets for you" she missed thoughtfully. I rolled my eyes

at her. I noticed all three of them cramped on Annie's bed.

"Uh guys?, I have room for one more" I said pointedly. Sally gave me a pointed look, Audya guilty one.

"What?" I questioned, even though I had an inkling of what they meant.

"Uhm no thanks, I'll pass" Sally said closing her eyes. I huffed, I really Loved my friends, and all but sometimes, I really wanted to body slam them.

The next afternoon, we were sitted in our regular booth at Carlo's, thankfully they didn't leave

me out of sitting positions. Paige came around to take our orders smiling,

"Hello Candy and friends, what can I get you?" My friends shared a look and smiled at her, while

listing off their orders. After she left, they turned to me.

"Nice ass she got" Sally commented casually. I choked.

"Maybe you are gay" I accused. She laughed.

"Well is she gay?" Audrey asked.

"I don't know yet".

"Find out" Annie said leaning back on her chair.

"How?" at this point, Paige was coming back with our orders.

She smiled "If you need anything please call, enjoy". She left.

"Follow her, after her shift and ask her". Sally said. I looked at them weirdly

but they all nodded at me.

After her shift, the girls urged me to follow her, and I did, as she walked out the door l did, she

was about to cross the road, her bag and the contents fell out of her hand, she went to pick them

so I helped, she looked up and smiled her thanks, I smiled and out of the corner of my eyes I saw

Phoenix waving and running to me at full speed, I tilted my head in confusion. But Paige was done

as we stood up we were hit by a truck, a heavy truck, I faintly heard my

friends call out to me, i tried to raise my hand but it was entwined with Paige's own. I closed my eyes, as I felt my strength leave me.
