Ibukun hurriedly buttoned up her white shirt. She picked a blue tie from the drawer and skilfully knotted it. Grabbing her school bag and the jacket on top of the bed, she hurried out of the room.

She rushed down the stairs and quickly sat at the table. Her elder sisters were also seated around the table while her mom served everyone.

“How was the concert?” Tosinmile asked as Ibk turned to glare at her.

“It’s not a concert, it’s a stage performance” Ibk retorted as another of her elder sister shook her head at her.

“I sincerely don’t see the difference you know” Toluwanimi whispered as Ibk gritted her teeth.

“I won’t blame your guys; ignorance isn’t nice” Ibk said as she grabbed a plate of toasted bread.

She had been blessed with a lovely family. Lovely parents, the bestest elder sisters and two annoying brothers. Her dad was a civil servant while her mom worked in a private firm. She was one of the biggest lawyer not just in the state, in the whole country.

She had clients all over the country. Her case losses could be counted with one hand. Ibk was extremely proud of her mom; whenever she had the opportunity, she didn’t spare any humility and boasted about her mom.

“Get going, the bus is probably here already” Nifemi replied as she munched her toasted bread.

The house was currently a girls’ hostel if you excluded Ibk’s dad. Her elder brother was studying overseas while her younger brother was in boarding house.

As if on cue, they heard a horn outside and Ibk stood up to wear her jacket. At the side of the jacket was a bright golden emblem with a cartoon king on it. And on the emblem was written in italics was De Royals International College.

Ibk picked on the toasted bread and did a high five with her sisters before she strode out of the dining room. She was about to close the door behind her when she peeped inside again.

“Mom, Dad, I’m off!” Ibk said as she slammed the door and hurried out of the gate.

The school bus was already waiting outside and Ibk walked inside replying all the greetings sent her way with a smile. She hurriedly walked to the back of the bus where three empty spaces were and sat down.

She looked outside as the bus moved forward and turned into another neighbourhood. It stopped at a glamorous huge house waited white. A beautiful dark complexioned girl walked out of the door and entered the bus.

Just as she was entering, a guy stepped on her while trying to switch sweats.

“Ayobami, don’t you have eyes?” she bellowed at him as the bus went silent. The guy who stepped on her looked at her with a bored expression.

“I merely stepped on you, what’s with the you don’t have eyes?” Ayobami asked as the girl chuckled at him.

“If you had eyes you wouldn’t step on me” the girl replied and Ayobami snickered.

“Fikayo, you and this your mouth ehn, you will land in trouble one day” Ayobami replied as Fikayo nodded.

“At least, my body parts are complete” Fikayo replied as the bus roared with laughter.

Just as Ayobami wanted to reply Fikayo, Ibk waved her hand at Fikayo “Fikky” she called out with a smile and Fikayo instantly wore a smile and pushed Ayobami out of the way and rushed towards Ibk.

“How was the stage performance? My parents were hell bent on having some family time so I couldn’t sneak out” Fikayo complained as she sat down and removed her school bag before placing it beside her.

Ibk laughed “What did you guys do during your family time?” Ibk asked as Fikayo turned to her wearing a deadpan expression.

“We watched thundermans” Fikayo replied as Ibk burst into laughter. She held her stomach as she laughed. Fikayo hissed as Ibk laughed.

“I mean; I’ll rather sleep than watch thundermans with my parents like they didn’t even get the small jokes. You need to have seen Ini’s face while we watched it” Fikayo said as Ibk ceased laughing slightly.

Fikayo’s parents are the kind of parents which one could say had revolved to the 21st century. They weren’t like your usual Nigerian parents so you could imagine the kind of family Fikayo had.

The children could converse with parents freely and the parents easily understood their children.

“Forget it, I stayed up all night to watch the video you posted on your page” Fikayo said as Ibk smiled.

“Lashe has gotten way cuter, his dimples kinda sinks in deeper when he smiles nowadays” Ibk said her eyes full of adoration.

“What’s up people?” a girly voice echoed in the bus and Ibk shook her head with a small smile.

An extremely light skinned girl was slapping handshakes with everyone in the bus. She had short conversations with a few people and she laughed and smiled until she got to where Fikayo and Ibk were seated.

“What’s up girls?” She said as she sat on the seat beside Fikayo.

“How do you manage to talk to …..” Fikayo asked her expression showing how much disdain she had for most of the people in the bus.

“Girlll, don’t do that” the girl said as Ibk laughed.

“Blessing, leave Fikayo alone” Ibk said as Fikayo leaned in her seat.

“Mehn…... Lashe has gotten hotter” Blessing cooed as Ibk nodded.

“I mean; his outfit yesterday was so dope” Fikayo chipped in as Blessing started moving her head to imaginable song.

“I’ll be here oh baby, if you ever need me” Blessing sang.

“I’ll be here, here, here, here” Ibk and Fikayo sang along in the bus.

“What do you guys even see in this Lashe guy sef?” a guy asked turning to the girls.

“Someone like you can’t grasp why we love him so much. The day you find out why Tola can’t like you back, you’ll know” Ibk replied and the bus roared with laughter. Even Fikayo and Blessing burst into laughter.
