Chapter 34 - VINCENT!

Adam's POV:

Where is the tattoo of his chest? And I could remember the big tattoo of a snake. It covered his whole chest.

Fiona was crying in this picture holding her father's long legs, throwing tantrum. She was scared of water. A yellow swimming tyre was floating on the water and a woman was laughing standing behind this daughter and child duo.

I saw other photos too. That woman was Fiona's mother, Isabella. She was a beautiful lady. These pictures were taken in Japan. Isabella, Brian and little Fiona was celebrating Japanese new year with many Japanese people, wearing yukuta. There is a photo where three of them were standing, smiling widely at the camera and dazzling fireworks were behind them. Brian picked little Fiona and she kissed his cheek.

There were many more pictures. My confusion intensified. I got up from the chair and headed to Brian's room.

Third person's POV:

Adam entered the room where Brian and his son were living. Brian wanted to leave his mansion with Fiona but Adam didn’t let him. Brian was adament on staying here with his daughter.

"What do you want?" Brian narrowed his gaze at Adam. He was holding an injection, about to take his insulin shot.

"Remove your shirt. Show me your chest." Adam ordered.

"What! What is going inside your insane mind this time?" Brian exclaimed.

"Do it before I unload one inside your boy?" Adam pulled out his gun and pointed towards Jack who was sleeping on the bed.

"No! Wait!" Brian shook his head and undid his shirt, exposing his chest.

Adam's eyes fell on Brian's chest, there was not a single tattoo there.

"Where is your tattoo? You removed them? You treated your skin?" disbelief in his voice as eyes were big like saucers.

"I never got any on my skin." Brian responded.

"Lying bastard, don’t lie. I can clearly remember that you have a big tattoo all over your chest. Spiral snake. What did you do to wipe all evidences?" Adam shouted, his face red as he clenched his jaw hard.

He was furious. He was falling deep inside the puzzles, feeling trapped. Confusion was numbing his senses and reasonings. His eyes didn’t see wrong, neither memories betrayed him. He couldn’t be wrong. If he was wrong, then everything he did for his revenge was wrong as well. He wronged the innocent persons, sinned a lot. Was he strong enough to bear the burden of his sins? His ways of excuses were closing too.

"What did you say? Spiral snake? I never had a single tattoo on my skin. Believe me." Brian stated.

"But someone I know wanted to have a spiral snake tattoo and also a scorpion." Brian added.

"What did you say? Scorpion? Who!" Adam instantly caught him. He could remember that the tormentor of his past clearly. His chest covered with a tattoo of spiral snake and a big scorpion on his back.

"My brother, Vincent." Brian replied.

"Did he looked the same as you? Were you twins?"

"No. Not at all. He was adopted by our parents. He was two years older than me."

"Where is he now?" Adam questioned.

"He moved out of house many years ago. My patents literally told him to move out as he was causing many disputes, conflicts, he was disturbed somehow. My parents realized that adopting Vincent was nothing but wrong decision. Even before leaving our house, Vincent injured my mother out of anger. Actually due to Vincent, me and Jovana broke up."

"What do you mean?" Adam raised his brow, curiosity piqued.

"Jovana and I started dating in high school and we lived in the same neighborhood. Vincent proposed Jovana before me but she rejected him. Vincent was a real bad guy, bad news, rebel and violent. I didn’t know this that Vincent liked her too, I proposed her and she said yes. Vincent couldn’t take it normally, he took it as an insult. He was always envious of me as I was the biological son. He started bothering us, and his obsession over Jovana increased. He started following her everywhere she would go. One day he sneaked in her house and tried to force himself on her. Jovana saved herself smashing a vase on his head. After that she broke up with me saying, as long as she is with me, Vincent won't leave her alone. She was scared. I was angry and told my parents about this. My patents were furious and they told Vincent to leave. Vincent was angry saying that he was never treated fairly by us. He left and we never saw him after that." Brian explained.

Adam didn’t say anything, he left the room and ordered his investigators to search everything about Vincent Andrew.

Few hours later,

In Fiona's room,

"Sweetie, a little bit more. Open your mouth." Brian was feeding Fiona some soup.

She took a few spoonfuls but later shook her head, not to eat anymore. Her body was skinny, pulse was weak.

Sighing Brian held a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice before her mouth. She drank slowly and finished the juice.

"Dad!" She spoke suddenly.

"Yes, honey? Do you want to eat something or need anything?" Brian asked.

Fiona didn’t answer rather asked back, "Dad, did you really tortured his mother? Killed his father?"

Fiona stared at his fathers eyes for truth.

"I swear by Isabella, I never tortured his mother. I knew his mother because we were dating for two years, then broke up. But after the break up, I never saw her ever again. I moved to Japan. Believe me, darling. He misunderstood something." Brian pleaded.

Fiona studied his eyes, which were teary. She knew he wasn’t lying. She knew when this man lied, his eyes quavered.

"Dad, I believe you. It’s such a relief to know my dad is not guilty." She faintly smiled. Her smile didn’t reach her tired eyes.

"Do you want to know about her?" Brian queried.

"Yeah, but not now dad. I want to sleep now. I will listen about her later. I want to sleep now." Fiona responded.

Fiona lay on the bed, placing her head on the soft pillow. Her father tucked her in a blanket and stroked her hair.

"Dad, this misunderstanding will be cleared soon, right? We can go back to our home soon?" She said.

Brian couldn’t answer her instantly. The way Adam behaved, he acted like a lunatic. He seemed to be obsessed over Fiona. Even though the truth came out, would he ever let them go? Especially Fiona? He claimed this poor girl as his possession.

What would happen to my poor daughter?

Brian internally shuddered at the thought.

"Dad?" Fiona called again. Brian couldn’t stay silent after seeing a faint hope blazing in her eyes. Her eyes looked a little bit alive. When he came here, she looked like a corpse, her eyes were almost dead.

"Yes, sweet pea. Of course. If he doesn’t let us go we will call the police. He must do it. Now don't worry, sleep tight baby." He kissed her on forehead.

"You aren’t lying? Are you, dad?" Fiona glanced at him, a desperately looking for assurance.

Fiona's fingers clutched his hand and Brian gave her hands a soft squeeze of assurance.

"Dad is not lying. I will take you from here. Believe me. Now sleep." Brian stated. That’s when this father made up his mind, he would do anything to protect her daughter and son from Adam. He wouldn’t care even if he had to die to save them.
