Chapter 3

I was engrossed in the book I was reading, when a loud bang on my table made me jump, followed by a desperate. "Hello?"

Squealing in utter shock, I jumped in my seat, tipping over and falling out of my chair. I could feel my face turn red in embarrassment as I heard a deep chuckle come from above me and I turned my head to look up at them feeling my eyes narrow as I saw who it was.

What was he even doing here? I didn't think he knew that the library existed.

He offered a hand to help me up but I ignored it and stood up myself, enjoying the awkward position that I had put him in. He bit his lip shamefully, bringing his hand back up to rub the back of his neck uncomfortably.

I'm trying my best to retain my dignity. "What do you want?" I asked coldly, being careful not to make eye contact with him.

"Well, since you said you didn't know me earlier, I thought I would introduce myself to you. I'm Zeus," he grinned.

Something wasn't right, people like him never talked to people like me unless they wanted something. "I don't do to other people's homework," I muttered before returning to my book.

He took the book from my hands making me turn to him in annoyance. "I'm not here for that, Felicity." He insisted.

I tried to grab my book, but he held it out of my reach. I narrowed my eyes at him. "How do you know my name?" I asked suspiciously.

He smirked and put the book in his lap, making me give up on getting it back. "That's a secret."

Rolling my eyes in annoyance I held my hand out for the book. "Give it back." I ordered.

He shook his head, still grinning cheekily as he moved the book under his legs and sat on it, making my eyes widen in shock. "You can try and get it if you want?" He chuckled, leaning back as he knew he succeeded.

I glared at him for a second, before sighing loudly. "Okay fine." I mumbled. "What do you want?"

A sly grin painted over his face as he leaned forward. "I want you."

"What?!" I blurted out, having on my words. Shaking my head in annoyance, I sighed irritably. "Very funny. Now give me my book."

"This is not a joke, babe." He smirked, as I made a face of disgust.

"My name is Felicity." I growled, before grabbing the book and catching him off guard. "But you already knew that, didn't you?" I picked up my things hastily and started to leave the library, leaving him gaping after me in shock.

"But-"

I left the library before he could finish and breathed out in relief. I didn't want anything to do with Zeus, all I knew was that he was bad news. Whether he was searching for revenge for the chemical incident, or something completely different, I was not going to let myself get drawn into that trap.

I organized my files, and casually turned to the door only to happen to see Zeus, Jason and Corey walk in. I found myself watching them curiously as they went to sit at the back, but looked away quickly as I saw Zeus turn to look at me. I tried to focus on what our teacher was saying, although I found it difficult to concentrate, with the burning feeling in the back of my neck, telling me I was I was holding someone's stare.

I knew in the back of my mind, who it was, but ignored it, shifting uncomfortably as the teacher spoke.

To be honest, I hadn't expected her reaction in the library, and was rather thinking that she would be a lot more nervous. She didn't even seem apologetic about spilling a chemical on me.

I caught her eye and smirked, but she seemed to be daydreaming, so I winked, making her narrow her eyes and turn back around.

The bell rang and she turned around to pick up her stuff. Just as she began to make her way out of the class room. I caught up with her as she walked into the halls and tapped her on the shoulder.

Turning to face me, the confusion in her face dropped to annoyance and she turned back and continued to walk. I grinned at her, walking along side her as she rolled her eyes. "What do you want, Zeus?" she asked, clearly annoyed.

I froze for a second as her question sunk in and realize that I hadn't actually thought of an excuse to talk to her. "I came to say hi..." I trailed of dumbly.

She raised an eyebrow and stopped to turn and face me. "Are you alright?" She asked. "Why are you following me?"

"Well, Corey and I got a really low mark on our test." I started, thinking about how to continue.

She shook her head, gesturing for me to elaborate. Words Zeus, use your words. What happened to my usual confidence?

"And." I nodded as I continued. "I was going to ask you if you would tutor us?"

She scoffed and laughed loudly, a mocking, yet somehow attractive laugh, but abruptly stopped as she saw my serious face. "Wait." Her expression dropped. "Are you serious?"

I nodded slowly. "Yes..."

Eyebrows raised in surprise, she tilted her head with a strange look. "Why would you want me to tutor you?" She asked suspiciously. "You don't even know me."

"Well maybe I want to know you." I smirked, leaning in flirtatiously.

Her face flushed red and she turned around, going to leave, but I grabbed her arm to stop her. So lines like that don't work on her. "No, wait." I blurted out desperately making her sigh, but still turn and face me. "I mean, you got full marks on your test. I could really use your help, so could Corey."

"Why should I?" she asked.

I sighed inwardly in part relief. "What do you want?" I asked, hopefully.

She shrugged, not having anything she wanted in return. "Oh come on." I urged. "There must be something that you want. Or something that it stopping you from getting where you want to, something you want to change? I could make you popular?"

She threw her head back again, letting out that same beautiful laugh before shaking her head. "What makes you think I would want anything like that?" She scoffed.

"You don't want to be popular?" I asked in surprise. "But everyone does..."

"I don't want people to know me like that. All I want is to get through school without distractions so I can go to college peacefu-" She stopped as she came to a realization. "No distractions." She murmured before nodding slowly and facing me seriously. "Okay, I'll tutor you and your friend, for one month, before our next test." She agreed, making my body relax in relief.

"Really?" I grinned.

"But only." She continued, sticking up her index finger. "If after we're done, you leave me alone."

One month. That had to be enough to get her to come to prom with me, right? "What if we don't do well?" I asked. "Do we get any compensation?" I chuckled, meaning it as a joke, but to my surprise she nodded.

"Fair enough." she shrugged. "I'll tutor you up to a chosen retake, you'd get about a week. But if you fail that too, it's over, you have to pull your own weight."

I nodded to myself. It couldn't take over a month to make her fall in love with me, there was no way. One month was all I needed, to get her to never want to leave, and win the game.

"Deal." I grinned, putting out my hand for her to shake.

She nodded in return, taking my hand in her tiny one, and shaking it quickly, before she turned to go to her next lesson. Standing where I was, I put my hand back in my pocket and watched her push her way through the crowd that barely seemed to notice her. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I wondered why she never stood up for herself, and why she let others push her around.

I turned in the corridor, making my way to the exit, I observed the way the crowds parted to give me space, in contrast to her meek shoving and 'tsked' under my breath at the mentality of everyone here. Now that I had got a proper look at her, I could see, that nerd or not, she wasn't ugly at all.

She was actually quite attractive, for a nerd. Her defined cheek bones and thick hair complimented her eyes, and her laugh was somehow contagious in making me want to smile. But that didn't matter.
