Chapter 8

"What?" I asked, confused at her question.

"What were you doing with Zeus?" She repeated. "He's not yours."

"I didn't realized he had a name tag." I smiled sarcastically. "Because last I checked he wasn't yours either."

Her eyes narrowed at me and she took a step forward threateningly. "You're not important enough to talk to him, nerd." She hissed, giving the label such venom that for a moment I felt my heart skip a beat.

I laughed. "Okay, sure. I'm not important. Is that all? Or can I go now?"

She glared at me. "Why were you with him?" She snarled.

"Why don't you ask him?" I spat back. "You know him oh-sol-well, he must be happy to tell you everything!" I exclaimed.

"Because I'm asking you!" She finally managed to blurt out.

"How is it any of your business anyway?" I hissed.

"Because Zeus is my boyfriend." She jeered, stepping closer to me. "So he's my business."

"Your boyfriend? In whose world?" Her eyes widened as the anger seeped out of her every inch. "You don't have to worry anyway." I continued. "Zeus and I have nothing between us. He's an idiot." I chuckled wryly, and looked back up at her. "So I guess you two would match perfectly." I could still feel some stares of other people that had seen me with Zeus, but I tried to ignore them as I hid my face behind my hair.

Yet, despite my elaborate disguise, I could still feel a particular stare coming from the back of the class room. I turned around and glared at him and his smug face. Zeus was sat in the back row now that he got the chance, along with his friends. His aggravating smirk was freshly painted onto his face as he winked at me. Not being able to stop myself, I felt my face flush red as I turned back to the front of the class, trying to act like nothing had happened.

In a few hour, the bell suddenly rang, signifying the end of class, and everyone jumped out of their seats, ready to go.

"Felicity!" Turning at the sound of my name, my eyes widened as I saw Zeus calling me, and I gathered my things up quickly and ran out of the classroom before he could catch up. Rushing into the halls, I turned back to check that he wasn't near, when I ran right into someone, and crashed to the ground, my books and folders falling on the ground.

"I'm so sorry!" I apologized quickly. "I just-"

"No, it's okay." He chuckled as he got onto his knees, helping me pick up the files. "I wasn't looking where I was going either he shrugged.

I quickly gathered my books before standing up long with him. My eyes scanned him over instinctively, catching sight of his basketball jersey. A small confused smile flickered to my face as the mystery guy handed me my books, flashing me a bright and captivating smile.

I blushed and took the papers, stacking them on the pile. "Thank you." I smiled.

His perfect teeth reflecting the light of the hall. Not saying this guy was lame. No, he was cute. With his dirty blonde hair, blue eyes and tall structure. He wasn't that muscular, but he did have a good and tall stature.

"No problem." He nodded, putting out his hand. "I'm Bryce."

I smiled and took it in mine. "Felicity." I responded as I shook it.

"Yeah, I know..." He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck.

I raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Really?" I asked. "That's surprising..."

"Well, everyone is talking about you. You know, since you've been with Zeus..."

I sighed in surprised and annoyance. "That literally only happened yesterday." I whined. "How have these rumors spread so fast?"

He shrugged, chuckling slightly. "It's a shame that you guys are together, though." She smiled sheepishly as he looked to the ground. "Because I would really have liked a chance to take you out."

"We're not a couple!" I blurted out, making him look up at me with bright eyes. "I'm only tutoring him!"

"Oh!" He murmured. "Really?" A grin took over his face, and I blushed, biting my lip nervously.

"I mean, I don't even like him-"

"Oh dear, sweetheart, you don't like me?"

Speak of the devil. I froze as I heard his aggravating voice again, and felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around slowly to glare at him. "What are you doing here?" I asked through gritted teeth as Bryce's eyed narrowed into a glare directed towards him. Yet that glare was instantly reciprocated by Zeus.

He smirked at me and passed an arm around my shoulders. "Can't I talk to a friend?" He asked, still glaring at Bryce. I glanced between them, not understanding the tension. Pushing his arm off of my shoulder, I shook my head in confusion.

"When did we become friends?" I asked, making Bryce smirk, and Zeus's face fall.

"You're so funny." He laughed, as I made a face. "Now come with me, you're going to meet my friends."

He grabbed my hand, trying to pull me away, but I pulled him back, stopping him from taking me with him. Turning around slowly, he raised an eyebrow at me. "Why?" I asked.

"You're going to want to meet the people you're tutoring, aren't you?" He asked. My fell instantly. I had completely forgotten that I agreed to do that. "Oh, yes..." I muttered almost stupidly, making both Bryce and Zeus chuckle. They stopped instantly and glared at each other again.

"Come on then." I sighed. "Let's go shall we?"

He nodded, sending smirk to Bryce, whilst I gave him an apologetic look. "I'll catch up with you later Felicity!" He called out.

"Okay." I called out quickly as Zeus dragged me away. A small smile painted over my face as I turned back to the direction Zeus was pulling me in. Was it really possible that someone had actually noticed me?

"What?" I asked. "Why do you look so grumpy?"

"Why were you talking to, Bryce?" He spat, hissing his name with venom.

I raised an eyebrow. "Why do you have a problem with me talking to Bryce?" I shot back.

"Why would I have a problem with it?" He muttered. "You're the one who said you didn't want any distractions."

"I was just talking to him, Zeus." I defended. "Plus, he seems like a nice guy."

"Shows how much you know, talking about romance so deeply and then drooling over a guy you just walked into."

"I was not drooling!" I protested as I turned away, discreetly wiping the corner of my mouth just in case. "And anyway, I didn't say anything wrong."

"You're way too optimistic about love." He sighed. "It's never that simple. You don't just meet someone and find your soulmate."

"You don't believe in true love?" I asked, tilting my head.

"No, I don't believe in any love." He muttered. "It doesn't exist. It's fiction."

"Maybe you should try actually talking ang getting to know a girl before you make that decision."

"It's not like it matters. My point was to be careful with Bryce." He continued. He guided me into the study hall for his free period, walking towards the back of the room as he spoke. "He's not as nice as he seems."

I rolled my eyes. "Yes, and you're a saint." I muttered.

"Wait, you were serious?" I asked. "You really wanted me to meet them?"

"Trust me. You're going to need to meet Corey before you tutor him."

One of them started laughing as I looked up at them curiously, but their gazes soon dropped down to Zeus's hand, and we both looked down, eyes widening as we saw he was still holding onto my hand.

"So which one of you is Corey?" I asked, adjusting the strap on my bag.

The blonde one with brown eyes raised his hand, grinning excitedly. "That's me!"
