III. The Guild

"Where did she come from?" Constance asked Felix while looking at the unconscious woman on the bed of their infirmary.

"I don't know, I just found her at the entrance of the guildhall. She looks beaten up." Felix commented.

Constance and Julian are the one who aided her wounds while Nanno changed her clothes into a hospital gown, Felix's forehead furrowed while he is trying to think where she came from.

"This is the first time that I saw her here, maybe she is a tourist?" Constance asked and crossed her legs. "Master should know about this." She recommended.

"Master already knew. He's on his way from the meeting." Julian answered as he came out from behind the curtain. "It's best if we leave her first, yes?" He asked.

"I'm staying." Felix declared.

"Okay, suit yourself. Loverboy." Constance teased as she stood up and follow Julian. Felix sighed and crossed his arms while still looking at the unconscious lady.

The woman has a black hair and her arms and legs covered by bruises, it's like someone beat her up in a battle. I am surprised that she's still alive after receiving those 'powerful' blows. He thought.

"Who are you really?" Felix asked as he felt a sudden uncomfortable feeling around her. "I will be damned if you will be our enemy, it's a shame. You're cute." He said whispering the last words as he felt his cheeks warmed.

Jer lazily looked at the list of jobs in the bulletin board, he sighed and looked at Zore who is also looking at the board. "Something interests you?" Zore asked.

"Nah, no one." Jer answered and walked back to one of the empty tables in the guildhall and sat on it. He placed both of his hand on the back of his head and looked at the ceiling. "Maybe we should form a team, what do you think?" Jer asked Zore who just landed on the table.

"Wow, that's the first time you said something that made sense." Zore commented and that irked Jer.

"And what do you mean by that!" He asked Zore with an irritation who just chuckled at his reaction.

"Nothing~" Zore sang and fly away from Jer. He rolled his eyes and lean on his seat then he just noticed. "Where is that dumb waterman?" He asked as he looked around.

Nanno giggled beside him while looking at her cards. "He is at the infirmary." Nenno answered.

"Did someone beat him up?" Jer asked.

"Nope, he found a woman."

"A woman beat him up!" Jer asked in confusion, Nanno sighed and looked at him.

"He found an unconscious woman and now he's at the infirmary, waiting for her to wake up." She explained, and that made Jer's forehead furrowed.

"I can not imagine that Felix having a girlfriend." Jer muttered and Nanno giggled again.

"Felix is kinda cute, how could you say that Jer?" She asked.

"Him? cute? Zore is cuter." Jer answered.

"You are hopeless." Nenno said while shaking her head at the same time. The door of the guildhall opened, revealing Zadavik and Steldarts who just came from the council meeting.

"Where is the woman?" Zadavik asked Julian.

"She's at the infirmary, Master." He answered and Zadavik just nodded and proceeds to the infirmary, and that picked Jer's interest, that's why he stood up to follow his master.

"I think it's not a wonderful idea to sneak around Jer." Julian speaks while drying a glass.

"I-I was n-not--"

"You're still a terrible liar, Jer." He said and looked at the orange-haired man then smiled. "Don't do that, you know Master when he is angry." He lectured, and that made Jer sighed.

"Fine." He said and went back to his seat awhile ago.

"Where did you find her again?" Zadavik asked Felix.

"At the entrance of the guildhall, she has bruises and wounds around her body and she was about to pass out." Felix described, and Zadavik nodded.

"Did you get her name?" Zadavik asked, but Felix just shakes his head. "This is the first time that I see her, I've been here at the Castleburgh for too long." Zadavik said.

"Constance thinks she is a tourist." Felix said.

"If she is a tourist, then maybe an illegal guild did this to her." The old man thought loudly.

"I guess we really need to wait for her to wake up." Felix suggested.

"You're right." Zadavik commented and turned his back. "Just call me whenever she wakes up." He said as he walked at the door.

"Yes, Master." Felix answered.

Zadavik closed the door and looked at Steldarts, who's waiting for him on the outside.

"Are you okay?" Zadavik asks his friend when he noticed his actions.

"I-I'm fine." Steldarts answered. "I felt something weird from her...I felt uncomfortable." He said and looked at Zadavik. "Maybe she is an enemy? What we will do?" Steldarts asked.

"We can't decide yet." Zadavik said and walked towards the hallway where his office was located. Steldarts just looked at his retreating body before letting out a breath and looked at the door where Lyra is resting.

"I'm hoping that you are not an enemy..." Steldarts whispered.

Lyra's forehead furrowed and slowly opened her eyes. She looked around her and immediately got up when she realized that she's in an unfamiliar place.

The door opened, and two men stepped inside. They both stopped when they saw her awake.

"Hi." The boy with a raven-blue hair greeted. "Y-you're awake." He added.

Then she remembered. He is the one who saw her fainting.

"W-where am I?" Lyra asked quietly.

"You're at the Castleburgh lady, the names Julian, nice to meet you." The man with black hair introduced.

"And I'm Felix." The man with a raven-blue hair said. "What is your name?" He asked.

Lyra looked at them for a second before she answered. "Lyra... Lyra Hamilton." She answered.

"Gotta report this to Master." Julian said and left Felix alone.

"Where is he going?" Lyra asked in confusion as Felix grabbed and chair and sat beside him.

"He will just report this to our Master."

"Master? are you a servant or something?"

"No, we're not." Felix chuckled. "You're here at the headquarters of Scylla's Legion." Felix explained, and that made Lyra stopped.

"Go to Scylla's Legion after you defeat Makoth and start a fresh life there."

"So, what guild are you from so we can contact your head." Felix asked.

"Guild..." Lyra trailed off and looked at the hand on her lap. "I-I don't have.." She whispered.

"I see.." Felix said. "Then, why are wounds and bruises covered your body? Did someone abused you or what?"

"N-no... no one abused me..." Lyras said. "It's from Makoth."

"Makoth? you mean the demon?" Felix asked, and Lyra nodded. "So he is real? I thought he was just an urban legend." He said and crossed his arms.

"Urban Legend?"

"No one really saw him, but according to the elders, he slaughtered a town for powerful magic."

"Urban Legend huh..." Lyra muttered and her hand fisted. "He is real!" Her voice suddenly rises, Felix was taken back by that sudden reaction but he remained calm. "H-he destroyed our town! H-he killed Krox!" She said.

"K-krox, you mean Krox Orovet!" Felix asked in shock.

"You know my teacher?" Lyra asked.

"He is your teacher!" Felix asked. He stood up because of shock, causing the chair to fall. "H-he is our second master and you're telling me he is your teacher? Are you sure that you are not a member Scylla's Legion?" Felix asked with wide eyes, still trying to comprehend the secrets he learned.

"I'm not, I don't belong to any guild." Lyra answered. "And I doubt that a guild will accept me." She whispered.

"What do you mean by that?" Felix asked.

"Felix, you may go." They both look at the man who just came and behind him, there is Julian. Felix gave Lyra one last glance before he walked towards the door together with Julian, Lyra sighed when she heard the door closed and looked at the unfamiliar man who came.

"I'm Zadavik Maecheford, the head of this guild, and you are?" Zadavik asked.

"Lyra Hamilton, Sir." Lyra answered with full of courtesy. She knows that he is powerful that's why he is the head of a guild.

"I heard that you're a student of Krox Orovet, the co-founder and the second master of this guild...where is he?" Zadavik asked.

"M-makoth killed him..." Lyra whispered.

Zadavik hummed. "I understand if you still can't say to us what really happened to you, but since Master Krox is your teacher...you can join the guild." He said, and that made Lyra's eyes widened.

"I-I'm s-sorry but..."

"But what?"

"My magic..."

"What about your magic?" Zadavik asked

"It was...rare and I don't know if--"

"Whatever it is, I don't care. As long as you will not use it to harm others." He said.

Lyra blinked many times. She still can't process the fact that they invited her to join into a guild even though they didn't know her.

But it's strange that she felt safe.

Maybe because Master Krox founded this.

"But in one condition." Zadavik muttered and later on, he grinned. "You will have an initiation fight with one of our mage here." He informed.

She was about to say something when the door opened loudly

"A what!" Felix's voice bombarded at the room and the door opened again, Zadavik eyes' twitched and he looked back at the raven-blue-haired man.

"Are you eavesdropping, you brat!" Zadavik screamed, and that made Lyra flinched. She didn't expect that he can be this audible. Felix looked scared at that sudden outburst, but he gulped and fixed himself.

"But Master, this is the first time that you will do an initiation match and also, she still needs to rest more." Felix defended.

"My decision is irrevocable, Felix."

"But Master sh--"

"I accept." Lyra butted in to stop the conversation of the two. "I've been fighting alone for the whole of my life, I think it's time to join into a guild." She explained.

Zadavik grinned at her, and that made her smile a little.

Maybe it wasn't a terrible decision.
