V. The New Life

Lyra opened her eyes, and a bright light immediately greeted her sight. She sighed and slowly got up from her bed. Her head turned to the door of her room and Constance head appeared in it, the blonde woman smiled at her and opened the door.

"Rise and shine, Lyra!" She said while smiling at the black-haired woman.

After the initiation fight and the celebration in the guild, Constance asked Lyra if she has a place to stay for the night. The black-haired girl admitted that she didn't have and Constance let her stay in her place.

"Good Morning." She greeted back.

"Freshen up, we already serve the breakfast. Join us okay!" Constance asked and Lyra nodded as an answer.

As she closed the door, Lyra sighed again and get out from her bed to prepare for the day. When she's done, she exited from her room and joins Constance for the breakfast.

"Good Morning, Julian." She greeted when she saw the black-haired man on the table. The man smiled at him after he took a sip from his coffee.

"Good Morning Lyra, I hope you've got an enjoyable sleep last night." Julian greeted back.

"Yes, I've slept good last night. Thank you for letting me stay here." She said sincerely.

"No problem, you are part of the guild from now." He said.

Lyra was shocked when she learned that Constance and Julian are living together but the blonde woman immediately explained that she and Julian are not in a relationship, it just happens that they both found the place and eventually agreed on living together since they knew each other since childhood.

"Good Morning everyone!" Lyra looked at Nanno, the youngest mage of the guild. She is also living here.

"Good morning, princess."

"I told you to stop calling me that!" Nanno whined and Julian chuckled.

"Anyway! let's eat so we can open the guild hall early!" Constance said, and everyone agreed to her.

After the breakfast and another preparation, the four walk to their guildhall. Lyra also learned that Julian is the one who has the key for the guildhall because he is Master Zadavik's secretary and the bartender to the guild.

"Julian seems to be popular to the girls." Lyra commented while they are walking, Julian and Nanno are busy talking in front of them and some girls around the area are squealing and sometimes greeting Julian.

"Yup, you're right." Constance said and showed her a copy of a magazine, and Lyra saw Julian's face on the cover. "Besides on being a bartender, Julian is also a part-time model." She said and gave the magazine to Lyra. She opened it and her eyes widened in shock when she saw Constance in it.

Constance giggled at her reaction. "I forgot to mention, I am also a part-time model." She said. "Though...that old man doesn't want me to do it." Constance added.

Constance father, Percival Denton, a ruby class mage in the Scylla's Legion and ranked 10 in the Ethereal Conclave's 10 Pillars of Wizards.

"Constance! Lyra!" Both women looked back at the one who called and they saw a familiar orange-haired man running towards them.

"Geez, can you lower down your voice? Its still morning and people don't need to hear your war cry." Constance deadpanned.

Jer stopped in front of them and catch his breath, Zore, on the other hand landed in his head. "Good morning!" Zore greeted/chirped.

"Good morning!" Jer greeted and grinned at them. Constance huff and continues to walk, leaving Lyra and Jer behind. "I will fight you later!" Jer said.

"Whatever!" Constance answered, and that made Jer chuckle.

"How about I'll tour you around the town since you are new here?" Jer offered, and that made Lyra smile. She was about to answer, but someone spoke behind her.

"If there is someone who will tour her around, that would be me, you firecracker." And Lyra knew that it was Felix's voice based on the nickname he gave to Jer.

"It was my idea, water freak."

"I will tour her because I was the one who found her."

"I asked her first you moron!"

"I will!"

"I will!"

Lyra sighed and put her hands on their shoulder, and she successfully gathered their attention from each other.

"I think I will take a job first before I do that." She smiled and leave the two behind.

Lyra was reading the posted jobs on the bulletin board carefully, but someone tugged her dress and she looked at the one who did that.

"Yes Nanno? do you need something?" She asked kindly.

"Are you going into a job?" She asked and Lyra nodded. Her face brightened. "Take me with you please!" Nanno asked using her puppy eyes and Lyra's eyes widened.

"What? are you serious?" Lyra asked and Nanno nodded. "Aren't you too young to do a jobs like this?" She asked and pointed at the posters on the board.

"It was my first job too!" Nanno informed.

"Oh, so Master finally gave you permission?" Lyra looked at the one who spoke and it was Steldarts.

"Hai!" Nanno answered, and that made Steldarts chuckled and ruffled her hair.

"You are growing up too damn fast, Nanno." He commented and looked at Lyra. "Don't worry about her safety Lyra, she can fight for herself." Steldarts said.

"Uh... sure. If you say so." Lyra answered looked at Nanno. "Then. let's go togather." She said with a smile, and that made Nanno cheer excitedly. Lyra looked back at the job posters while Nanno and Steldarts are talking.

"Hey Lyra! are you really going on a job?" She heard Felix asked.

"Yup. With Nanno." Lyra answered and picked one of the job posters there. "How about this?" Lyra asked and showed Nanno the poster, and she saw her eyes twinkled, then nodded repeatedly.

"Let me come too, just for your safety." Felix offered.

"I can handle myself Felix and I can protect Nanno. Don't worry." Lyra assured.

"And also, Master wants you to clean the library together with Jer, right? Are you running away from your task, kid?" Steldarts asked, and that made Felix's eyes widened.

"N-no Sir!" Felix answered.

"Then grabbed the cleaning materials and also Jer. If Master caught you not doing the task, you know what will happen." Steldarts ordered and Felix immediately followed, pulling Jer from the ruckus in the lobby in the process. "That kid is also a headache." The man muttered.

"We should get going so we can come back as soon as possible." Lyra said.

"Yup! let's go!" Nanno said.

After informing Julian about the job that they will take, Lyra and Nanno started their journey towards the Manlam Grove where their mission is located.

According to the job request, there are bandits whose attacking the village and forcing them to pay even though the villagers owned the land.

"Now...how can we find those bastards." Lyra said as she looked around when they finally finished talking to the leader of the village.

"I think I can do that." Nanno said and opened her backpack and draw a stack of card. She closed her eyes and a magic circle appeared from her hands that hold the stack of cards.

Constance told Lyra about her magic. Nanno is a card magic user, and that magic runs through the blood of her family, but unfortunately, her parents died when she's still young, that's why Zadavik, Percival and Steldarts are the one who took care at her.

Nanno draw a five cards from the stack and throw it in the air, it floats for a second but later on; it seems like it has its own mind and flies to the left.

"Let's follow them!" Nanno said and run after the cards, Lyra just quietly followed the child. Trusting her magic that it will lead them where those bandits are located.

Minutes later, the cards dropped and in front of them, there is a building and a guild insignia proudly displayed on the entrance.

"A guild, eh?" Lyra asked.

"I think this is an illegal guild." Nanno informed. "They are not Council's accredited according to Master." She added.

"Are you sure you can fight?" Lyra asked and turned to Nanno..

"What is your plan?" Nanno asked.

"Well...we will just barged at the front door...we don't want to be rude, right?" Lyra joked, and that made Nanno giggled.

"Then, I think I need to do this." Nanno said and draws out a different stack of cards. She picked a card and throw it in the air. "Card armor-equip! Rose armor!" She chanted and a white light covered her entire body for a second, but later on it disappeared.

When the light disappeared, Lyra saw a woman in front of her wearing a pink armor and holding a baseball bat with thorns in her left hand.

"N-nanno?" Lyra asked in shock.

"Yup." Nanno answered in a mature voice. "It's me, don't worry." She said and looked in front of them. "Let's go?" She asked, and finally Lyra got out from being dazed.

"Yup, let's go." She said, and they both walked towards the front door of that guild.

Nanno kicked the door opened and since she was wearing at armor, the door flew off from its hinges.

All the people inside of it looked at them, Lyra smirked and she stepped forward.

"Who the hell are you?" One of the people inside asked.

"We are the mages of Scylla's Legion and we are here..." She trailed off as dark magic started to surround her fists. "To take you down." She said and they both charged towards them.

~

"Thank you so much for your help." The leader of the village said, Lyra smiled.

"It's our job." Lyra said and looked at the sky. She noticed that the sun started to set. "I'm afraid we need to go back into our guild." She informed.

"Of course, you may go. Again, thank you so much." The leader said, Lyra smiled at him and bid their goodbyes.

As they walk away, the villagers waving their hands on the two women.

"So, how's the job?" Lyra asked.

"It was wonderful!" Nanno exclaimed and Lyra chuckled. "You're magic is so amazing, I can just sit there and watch you fight!" She added.

"Oh no, you're magic really surprised me." Lyra answered. "I didn't know that you have a magic like that." She added and Nanno giggled again.

"Zinde is the one who taught me that magic."

"Zinde? I think I heard her name somewhere in the guild."

"She is the Master's daughter." Nanno says. "She also used re-quip magic but our difference is, mine's armor came from the cards while her, she can summon it directly without using any objects." She explained and Lyra nodded at that information.

"Oh my!"

"What happened?"

"I want to see you two fight!" She exclaimed and Lyra chuckled again.

"Well, let's see." She answered.

"By the way Lyra..." Nanno said and Lyra hummed in response. "Where did you came from? I heard from Constance and Felix that you are not from here." She asked.

"I am from the city of Mythdenn, I grew up there together with my sibling, but when our teacher left without saying a word, we also left our city and travelled to the nearby states until we reached here." Lyra stated.

"You have a sibling?" Nanno asked, and Lyra smile when the memories of them came back in her mind.

"We are not blood related, but he looked up to me as a big sister." Lyra said. "We got separated when Makoth attacked the village where we temporarily stopped."

"Makoth? so urban legend is real!" Nanno asked in shock and Lyra nodded.

"Yup he is real. I even fought him, but..."

"But what?"

"I failed." She trailed off and her eyes gazed to the ground. "I missed many years in my life because Makoth casted a spell that made me sleep." She said, and Nanno gasped at that information.

"That was..."

Lyra smiled and ruffled her hair. "It was confusing, but guess what? I found Scylla's Legion. My new home." She said.

Nanno looked at her for a second before a smile beamed at her face.

"Yup! you're new family!" She agreed, and Lyra laughed lightly as they continue to walk in the forest.

Krox, I finally found my new home, my new family. I think this is the time to start the new life that you've told me. Lyra thought as she smiled at Nanno, who is talking about her experience in the guild.

I promise to cherish this life and I will protect the people around me.
