Chapter 39 She's Still Here

Huo Family's old mansion. Grandma Huo was absent-minded as she flipped through the photos, not even realizing that Huo Qiming had arrived.

"Grandma, are you still looking at old photos?"

The old woman snapped back to her senses and subconsciously wanted to close the photo album. Her hands paused, as if she had made up her mind to ask Huo Qiming to sit beside her.

"Come here."

Huo Qiming stepped forward. The old woman's photo album was a bit old, and the photos inside were nearly all black and white. He knew the person in the first several ones. Those were the photos of his parents.

"Qiming, you've grown up too. There are some things you should know. Actually, you're not Huo Family's grandson. You're the child I brought back from the orphanage."

Huo Qiming remained silent and did not react much as the old woman looked at him. "You're not surprised?"

"Actually, I've known for a long time when you needed a kidney transplant a few years ago. I didn't have a successful match, so I did a genetic test to find out that I'm not related to Huo Family."

"Then you ..."

"Since grandma doesn't want to talk about it, I naturally won't ask. No matter what, grandma is still the closest person in the world to me. Grandma treats me like a grandchild, and I will never treat myself as an outsider to Huo Family."

"Good boy." Grandma Huo gently stroked Huo Qiming's hair. "Your parents died because of a car accident without leaving a child. I really wanted to die together with them but then I found out your father had a unlawful daughter outside which was Xiaoyu. She was the real heir of Huo Family, and the real granddaughter of me... I could not let the blood of Huo Family wandering outside, so I found her back and asked you to marry her. I wanted to tranfer the shares of Huo Family to her in order to make up to her for all these years.

Your father had raised a woman outside. That woman didn't have money to spend after your father passed away, so she threw the child she had just given birth to at the entrance of the orphanage. I, on the other hand, adopted you from this orphanage. At that time, you didn't remember anything, but you already had a connection with Xiaoyu."

Grandma Huo flipped open the photo album, and the two children in their swaddling arms were tightly shut, their little hands clasping together as if they were comforting the lonely other. The scene was warm and beautiful.

Huo Qiming gently stroked the two children in the photo with his fingers. It turned out that they had known each other since they were so young.

"Later on, I often took you to the orphanage to donate some things. There was a little girl who was often bullied. You always stood up for her and fought with other children. Every time you went to the orphanage, you hid the best things and gave them to her secretly. Remember?"

Grandma Huo flipped through a page of the photo album. There was a dirty boy determinedly standing in front of a little girl with his hands on his hips. Back then the two children were just around four or five yeras old. The little girl hid behind the boy frightenedly, her little hands tightly grabbing his clothes, like treating him as her only reliance.

Huo Qiming looked at the photo and smiled. His memory seemed to have gone back to that time. Every quarter, he went to the orphanage to donate things with his grandmother, and the habit continued until he went to high school. He remembered that she had been admitted to a foreign high school and that her grandmother had funded her to go abroad .They had been separated like that, and he had never seen her since then, and the past had been sealed in his memory. Now that he thought about it, he felt very sweet.

"Later on, I had a very serious kidney disease and needed a kidney source to match me. She heard about this overseas and immediately returned to China to make me a match. I realized that this child was actually my lost granddaughter. She gave me a kidney and saved my life. Huo Family couldn't treat her unfairly. She said that you had been protecting her since childhood and that she had always liked you. That's why I wanted you to marry her and let her live a better life for the rest of her life. However, in the end, she still ... What kind of sin did I commit to make me send young people away over and over again?"

Huo Qiming snapped out of his shock and looked at Grandma Huo with sparkling eyes. "Grandma, she's not dead. She's back and she's in Luo City now. I don't have any reason to keep her. Why don't we transfer Huo Corporation to her name in which way we will be able to keep her staying, okay?"
