Sanbridge General Hospital was a vast Medical Complex, and a sprawling pastiche of prevalent architecture. Extending three blocks, on third avenue.

A golden beacon of buoyancy and promise to Sanbridge City, founded in 1963 as a simple Medical Clinic. Turned into Sanbridge General in the year 1993, which blossomed into a top Medical Facility. Praised in the 21st century for its highly advanced facilities, and professional, well trained Doctors and Medical Staff.

The interior walls of the exorbitant Hospital roared and undulated with activity as Emanuel made his way down the long, wide corridor. Connecting to the buzzing, uproarious Sanbridge Pavilion. Striding past big entrance doors titled Pediatrics, Gynecology and Obstetrics, where steady streams of traffic moved back and forth.

"Dr. Rosario," an older Nurse, with a crinkled forehead and graying black, wavy hair greeted Emanuel as she stepped out of a Patient's Room. Her scrubs bunched up on her, in a pudgy yet substantially prim way.

She gripped a large, red file jacket in her right hand, along with two others clutched under her left arm. She smiled at Emanuel, marveling at the man's allure, pondering what it would have felt like to be 30 years old once again.

"Nurse Cavanaugh, I told you time and time again. Call me Emanuel," He shook his head at her and she blushed flippantly. The wrinkled lines in her face creasing nimbly, followed by a dismissive wave of her somewhat freckled arms.

"As if you Being my Boss isn't hard enough, imagine if I was your Mother. Now that'd be a little bizarre." Nurse Cavanaugh shook her head in heightened, yet humorous agitation and Emanuel chuckled subtly.

"Fortunately I agree with you, but you aren't that old."

"I'm 54 years old, with no Kids and a Puppy named Cisco. Classic menopausal abhorrence, Doctor." she answered with a minuscule frown, but she soon smiled. Leniently shaking off any occurrence of poignancy, bombarding her for not pursuing such a life, when she was young enough to do so.

"If it's any consolation, I think you'd be a great Mom. Any kid'd be lucky to have those turkey Sandwiches," Emanuel joked and Nurse Cavanaugh scoffed, rolling her eyes with a blushing smile.

"You're sweet, Dr. Rosario. But we have work to do." She announced with urgency.

"Here I was thinking I could at least have a cup of hot cocoa, or chamomile before I got squirted with blood or worse, pee," Emanuel mused and Nurse Cavanaugh chuckled with warm, rosy cheeks, still managing to shudder at the thought of being showered in urine.

"I know you're not technically on duty yet," she spoke as she handed him a file, which he took and immediately began scouring through the forms inside.

"But you're the best attending Doctor we have on the graveyard shift so, I kind of need your consult for this Patient," she cajoled and Emanuel blinked rapidly as he gazed at the report in the Files.

"Sure thing, what's the issue?" He asked as he went over the forms swiftly yet throughly. Unable to receive enough information, due to the lack of treatment to the Patient.

"He was stabbed in the upper right of his arm, just a little below his biceps. Possible Ulnar Artery injury, but that's why I need you to check it out. It's kind of way out of my corner,"

"Hemorrhaging?"

"Not yet, but the chance of it happening increases by the minute." She answered in a gloomy tone.

Emanuel pursed his lips as he shut the file, and gripped it between both hands. He and Nurse Cavanaugh began walking down the corridor, to the Accident and Emergency Ward. Two Orderlies in white scrubs rushed past them with an old lady strapped to a gurney, completely unconscious. Emanuel grimaced at the sight of her deathly pale skin, scrunching up his nose at the faint scent of stale urine.

Emanuel and Nurse Cavanaugh moved past the Nurse's Station, where countless Patients and Emergency Rooms with drawn curtains stood. Patients yelled, sobbed, cursed and mumbled all around them in an cacophonous fashion that they had grown accustomed to. It was nothing they couldn't manage, though some nights had been harder than some--when the crazies came out.

Phones rang, Nurses and Doctors whizzed past without the slightest hint of attention their way, due to the uproar of Patients filing in on gurneys, some yelling and some too immobile to speak or move.

The A&E Ward had a relatively vast number of beds, being manned by Resident Physicians and Nurses dressed in varying Scrubs and Coats. Nurse Cavanaugh and Emanuel fitting right within the fold, almost disappearing in terms of their attire.

"If there's an Ulnar Vessel injury, there's a chance it can become Ischemia if we wait too long, and I can conjecture that the Patient is already in pain."

"He's handling it well, should I get an OR Room prepped?" Nurse Cavanaugh questioned and Emanuel nodded unpretentiously.

"Not a likely possibility, but do so in case there are any issues."

"Good call, Doctor,"

"Cause of injury?" Emanuel questioned and Nurse Cavanaugh paused, gesturing towards a Room to his left, with drawn curtains.

"He'll be better suited to tell you that, good luck, Dr. Rosario, let me know if you need any help,"

"Thanks, Nurse. and could you do me a tiny little favor?" Emanuel asked with pleading, congenial eyes, and she rose an eyebrow.

"Hot Cocoa with brown sugar?" She asked with a smirk and Emanuel grinned, content that she knew him so well.

"You're a doll, Cavanaugh." he chirped as she nodded, turning away. Emanuel swiftly spun on his heels, trudging towards the Room.

He slid the glass door to his left, and pulled the curtain away, stepping into the Room, capturing the attention of Vincent Kelsey. A blue eyed man, with bulging biceps and a broad shoulder bare of garment, with a light carpet of hair covering his chest and abdomen.

Emanuel averted his eyes, taking note of the man's bloodshot eyes, and flushed skin that alarmed Emanuel to his dire injury. He sported a fresh, left black eye, and a slight swelling above his right, that bled minimally. Other injuries and medial lacerations all across his face, including a busted lip that bled and appeared to be quite swollen.

Vince's arms were cased in gauze, used to slow down the bleeding in his right arm. The injury to his arm had numbed, but the area around the wound throbbed and ached intensely.

"Hi, my name is Dr. Rosario and I'll be treating you today." Emanuel introduced himself as he closed the glass doors, pulling the curtains back in place.

He walked up to Vince, who watched the Doctor who had an affable appearance and aura, that made him feel instantly comforted. A devout and uncontrived vehemence that bore no grounds to the margin of discomfort, despite the throbbing paroxysm in his arm.

"H-hi, Vince. I really like this exchange of names and all but I'm kinda bleeding out here," he mused lightly and Emanuel smiled at the man.

Emanuel quickly checked the temporary bandages, and gazed at the readings on the Monitor, recording in the File, that Vince's vitals appeared normal.

"Well you seem ok, but we might want to get that arm checked out. Did the Nurse administer a Tetanus shot?"

"No, I got one just last week, Nurse thought it best not to induce any drugs until final observation and diagnosis." Vince answered and Emanuel nodded.

Emanuel slapped on his rubber gloves, pulling them into place on his hands, before slowly and carefully peeling back the tape and gauze to begin examining the wound. He grimaced as the ghastly laceration was uncovered. Blood leaking from the deep gash in the man's arm, but it was at a minimal level and not cause for concern, yet.

The wound appeared to have been inflicted in a clean and precise manner. Opposite to an oblique angle but gaping due to the elasticity in Vince's skin. The swelling around his arm tinted purple, indicating a far more dire possibility that worried Emanuel. For around the gash looked battered and beaten, but it appeared that something bled beyond the epidermis.

"It's bad, isn't it?" Vince asked with a pained look, and Emanuel seemed hesitant for a second.

"Well, there's an abnormal margin of swelling in and around the wound, sheathed in tight linings that may or may not be serious." Emanuel gestured with a flippant shake of his head.

"So, I'm basically bleeding internally?" He asked and Emanuel nodded, surprised at his knowledge.

"It is likely, are you experiencing any odd motilities? Dizziness, nausea?"

"I do feel a little lightheaded," he answered as he began feeling faint, due to the loss of blood.

"Pain?"

"Excruciating, I'm just handling it well." Vince shrugged, grasping his upper arm as Emanuel poked and prodded at the outer layer of the wound, with his gloved finger. Forcing Vince to wince and mutter unintelligibly, below his breath.

"Ouch, well that hurts,"

"Well it should, there's a possible severance of your Ulnar Artery. It's rare but not so much with stab wounds to the arm. Got in a fight? You've been dealt quite a number."

Vince winced as the wound in his arm throbbed, filling him with blinding spasm, that threatened to knock him unconscious. Tormenting agony that rose and palpitated like a beating heart within his arm. Twisting his face up as he tried coping with the discomfort.

"You should see the other guy," Vince joked with a marginal wince making Emanuel chuckle in amusement.

Emanuel silently profiled Vince Kelsey. His brunette hair, framing his relatively round but taut face, with bushy eyebrows and stern eyes that were quite distinguished. His hardened jawline and knotted eyebrows, adding to the deathly dark attractiveness that gave Emanuel a hint of mystery. His pointed nose crinkled and his thin lips pursed marginally, but even he couldn't ignore the intense malady that surmounted within every part of his body.

"Well, the swelling is intensifying."

"Does that mean I'll need surgery?" Vince queried with a worried look and Emanuel paused with a heavy sigh, seemingly hesitant as he scowled at the files in his hands.

"Preliminary, we'll have to make a small incision at the highest discoloration in the swelling around the wound. Odds are, your Ulnar Artery is the source of the bleeding or maybe it isn't, but if it is we'll have to stop it before you go in hemorrhagic shock." Emanuel informed the man, who simply nodded in reply.

Vince scowled at the possible diagnosis, but he in turn nodded as he shuffled on the bed uncomfortably. "Just my luck," he muttered bitterly as Emanuel watched him, with uneasy eyes.

"Don't worry, you'll be in very good hands." Emanuel reassured Vince, who shot him a forced smile, betraying the impassivity of his ragged features.

"The only thing I'm worried about right now, is not being able to use my arms anymore. Arm surgery isn't exactly comforting to me," Vince remarked heavily forcing Emanuel to shift his gaze to Vince's. Pausing for a few fleeting seconds as their eyes met.

"Musician?" Emanuel asked but Vince hesitated, worrying Emanuel as the man fidgeted on the Bed.

"Let's just say my arms are a bit important to my profession," Vince answered with a grimace and Emanuel shrugged, disregarding the vagueness of his remark.

"Blood pressure and heart rate seems normal, I'll have you in and out of OR in under three hours. Sound good?"

"Do I have a choice?" Vince queried with a small smile and Emanuel chuckled but, the grin on his face faded immediately as the IV Monitor began blaring erratically.

The loud beeping of the heart monitor resonated in the Room, and Vince's eyes began rolling back into his head, as his body shook violently. Emanuel immediately checked his pulse, and his eyes widened in realization as Vince began wheezing. His pulse had slowed, and his heart rate began dropping gradually.

Emanuel ran to the Room's intercom by the Bed, and Vince's inane eyes gazed up at him with forlorn impatience as he began losing consciousness.

"I need Nurses in E 3, ASAP!" He spoke loudly and urgently into the intercom, sputtering due to the nerve wracking angst that imploded within him.

Emanuel checked the area around the wound. Noticing that the purple tinted skin had become even more discolored, from the level of blood increasing internally.

Emanuel clutched onto Vince, holding him down to calm the erratic movements of his body, shaking below his gloved hands. For a moment, Vince clutched onto Emanuel's right hand, squeezing it in a silent cry for help. Distracting Emanuel from the task that needed to be allocated, in order to prevent Vince from succumbing to the fatal internal injuries. Caused by decompression and halted flow of blood to his arm.

In just a few short seconds, Nurse Cavanaugh bounded into the Room, a stethoscope around her neck as she ambled towards the bed. Emanuel finally was broken out of his reverie as he shifted his gaze to Nurse Cavanaugh's face--that looked even more tired than before. But her eyes were wide open in vigilance and attention.

"I'm here, I'm here!" She chortled out swiftly as she ran to the bedside, assisting Emanuel in holding Vince in place. "What's happening?"

A male Nurse ran into the room, and Emanuel turned his attention to him. "I need an IV attached immediately, and I need pads, we need to jumpstart his vitals!" Emanuel ordered swiftly and the male Nurse quickly ran to the left of the Room, grabbing an IV setup.

"He's seizing and his pulse is getting weaker by the second, Nurse Cavanaugh, attach the IV!" Emanuel ordered swiftly and she nodded as she ran to the other side of the room, scouring through the large Cabinet.

"CPP is 67 and dropping," Cavanaugh announced as she handed Emanuel a syringe and a small bottle of Dopamine.

Another nurse ran into the room, her honey brown hair dangling around her shoulder in deep, curly waves. Her piercing blue eyes regarded Vince, and for a second she seemed dazed but her attention was captured by Emanuel at once. Emanuel recognized her as Nurse Hopkins, a resident at SGH who was quite efficient and quick with her hands.

"What can I do?" Nurse Hopkins asked as she joined them.

Vince's body grew still, and the steady ring of the heart monitor became a blaring alarm around the room, getting louder as it assaulted their ears. Vince lay still on the bed, completely unresponsive and Emanuel began fearing for the worst. He quickly grabbed Vince's arm to attach the IV, and got it hooked up and working in just seconds.

"Get me a max of Epinephrine and a second max of Dopamine, yesterday!" Emanuel ordered urgently as he began applying CPR, careful to add the correct amount of pressure.

"But won't that increase the compressions?" Nurse Cavanaugh asked as Emanuel attached the syringe to the IV.

"We have limited options right now, Nurse Cavanaugh." Emanuel answered as he pumped Vince's chest rigorously.

Nurse Hopkins returned with two bottles, and began administering them through the IV attached to Vince's left arm.

"Pads!" Emanuel ordered gruffly and Nurse Cavanaugh went back to the Cabinet, pulling out two plated pads.

"BP is dropping and fast too," Cavanaugh mentioned in a hoarse voice as they all moved around frantically, trying to save Vince Kelsey from an unnecessary demise.

"We're losing him!" Nurse Hopkins cried out and Emanuel's gaze shot to the wound that was darkening by the second. "We need to get him to OR now, Dr. Rosario."

"No we can't, we have to stop the bleeding!" Emanuel said as he ran to the Cabinet, digging through its compartments frantically.

"Are you insane? What if he goes into shock?" Nurse Cavanaugh asked incredulous but, Emanuel ignored her as he brandished the Scalpel.

"Dr. Rosario!" Nurse Cavanaugh called warningly as Emanuel made his way over to Vince.

"I'm doing this, you can either grab the suction device and help me stop this bleeding, or go find somebody else who can!" He snapped and Nurse Cavanaugh grimaced, but walked to the other side of the room.

"This isn't protocol," she challenged as he gaze intensified, and Emanuel frowned at her.

"It also isn't protocol to watch a Patient die, knowing damn well that we can do something to prevent that!" He argued and Nurse Cavanaugh seemed displeased by both his idea and his tone of voice. But she shook her head and rose both her hands in defeat.

"Your funeral, Dr. Rosario," she asserted gruffly and Emanuel scowled at her ill confidence.

"No, Nurse Cavanaugh. It's going to be his funeral if I don't do this." He said as he turned his attention back to Vince's still figure, just lying atop the bed.

"Gloves," Emanuel ordered and Nurse Hopkins handed him a brand new pair of gloves.

"Scalpel," he reached out a hand to a reluctant Nurse Cavanaugh, who sighed heavily then slapped the silver cutting tool into his palm.

With his index finger and thumb against the discolored flesh, Emanuel placed the scalpel against Vince's skin. Closing his eyes for a second as he attempted to calm his scattered nerves, that could very well lead him into doing the wrong thing.

"Are you sure this is the right-," Nurse Hopkins began but was interjected by Emanuel immediately.

"He's hemorrhaging so yes, it is the right thing to do." With his eyes opened again, he made an incision that was at least three inches long.

Blood spurted from the wound. Gurgling and spitting against his gloved hand. "Suction," he demanded as his heart began racing in his chest, for he knew it was a tricky move to make, but he was certain it would save the man's life.

Nurse Cavanaugh stood there, frowning in destitution as she clutched the suction device and watched Emanuel in disapproval, but she knew better. He was a Doctor who believed in doing anything it took to save a Patient, even if it meant being suspended by Scarano. The Hospital Administrator, who Emanuel had many run-ins with but couldn't dare fire Emanuel.

For although Emanuel Rosario's methods were against protocol, he managed to save even more lives than he would, if he should ever have followed all the rules down to their very last detail.

Once the area was clear of the darkened blood, spurting from the Blood Vessel, Emanuel was able to spot the source of the bleeding. The Ulnar artery was hard to spot by the naked eye, but as a Doctor Emanuel knew exactly what to look for.

"Hemostat," he made the last call, and Nurse Hopkins quickly handed one to him.

"Suction, its filling up again," Emanuel grimaced as the opening began filling back up with thick, red blood. Hiding the severed artery, in its coat of crimson red liquid.

Nurse Cavanaugh quickly used the suction device to clear the area again, revealing the artery once more. Using the Hemostat, Emanuel clamped the artery in place immediately stopping the bleeding. He glanced towards the Heart Monitor, but his face became sullen with disappointment as the BPS and BP still remained and didn't begin rising again.

"We have to get his heart pumping again, his blood is not circulating to augment his brain," Emanuel looked down at Vince's face, that had begun to pale.

Emanuel was particularly affected by the ordeal for some odd reason, but as a Doctor he knew better than to become unfocused. He had seen his fair share of emergencies, but none had hit home like it did with Vincent Kelsey. For it had recollective instances that assaulted his brain.

Emanuel quickly interlocked his fingers, pressing his palms into Vince's chest then began pumping, maintaining a steady compression. Vince's body jerked below him, and Emanuel watched the Vitals Monitor with pleading, disquieted eyes as his heart sped up. Beating against his ribcage painfully, as the thought of having to revive another patient made him nauseous and sick to his stomach.

"Defib,"

"Yes, Doctor." Nurse Hopkins nodded swiftly as she correctly, and efficiently placed the pads at the correct positions on Vince's chest and upper torso.

"Come on buddy, stay with me." Emanuel whispered as his palms compressed the man's chest, manually pumping the blood throughout his body.

"Charge to 2.6, ready when you are." Emanuel nodded to Cavanaugh.

Nurse Cavanaugh began rubbing the Apex and Sternum panels together, an unsure look on her face.

"Clear?"

"Clear!" Emanuel and Hopkins chorused, while the male Nurse in the background simply marveled at the sight.

It took many tries from the Defibrillator to get Vince Kelsey back to sinus condition, but he was, despite still being unconscious after the attempts. His anatomy had proven strong and his vitals returned back to normal, but the surgery was now even more necessary despite his stable condition.

"Blood pressure is normalizing, dopamine levels increased and he's now Sinus. Should I alert Dr. Claymore in OR?" Nurse Cavanaugh asked and Emanuel remained silent, his eyes rested on Vince's chest.

"Dr. Rosario?"

Nurse Cavanaugh touched Emanuel atop his right shoulder, jolting the man out of his reverie almost instantly. Startling her as he came back to the right plane of existence, jittering as his eyes blinked rapidly in relief.

"Y-yes, I'm sorry I just-just needed a second." He apologized, causing Nurse Hopkins and Nurse Cavanaugh to exchange questioning glances.

"Well, you saved this man's life, Dr. Rosario. We are all as overwhelmed as you are right now," Nurse Hopkins smiled in Emanuel's direction, approval and admiration silent but unwavering in her eyes.

"Nurse Hopkins, assist Nurse Cavanaugh in getting him to Anesthesia right away. He should be transferred to the OR immediately, go." Nurse Hopkins nodded vigorously and Cavanaugh smiled at Emanuel who rubbed at his forehead frantically.

"I may have been a little prickly at first, but I knew I sent the right Doctor to this Room, good job, Dr. Rosario." Nurse Cavanaugh nudged Emanuel gently, and he flashed her a tight smile, still reeling from the thought of almost losing yet another Patient.

"Just doing my job," he called after her as she and Nurse Hopkins rolled Vince out of the Room.

Emanuel spun around, almost startled to see the curly haired Male nurse still standing there. His big green eyes smiling in adoration at Emanuel.

"That was so, awesome!" He shouted in a hoarse voice and Emanuel blushed flippantly.

"Jake, we do this all the time don't be so surprised." Emanuel remarked with a chuckle and a shake of his head, but Jake nodded dismissively.

"With all due respect, Dr. Rosario, you just cut into that man's arm, stopped his blood vessel from bleeding out and saved his life, without even as much as blinking!" Jake grinned and Emanuel rose an eyebrow but chuckled as he rested his right hand atop the younger man's shoulder.

"If I hadn't he would've died before he even made it to OR,"

Emanuel grimaced at the spot where the Bed had been mere minutes ago, knowing well that if he hadn't done what he did. Vincent Kelsey would have been pronounced dead, and he would have been the one to make the call, but he was content that he chose to make another.

"You're really the best Doctor around here," Jake chuckled with a shake of his head, and Emanuel rolled his eyes feeling mentally annoyed at the praise.

"Come on, Nurse Marsden. Let's go save some more lives." Emanuel ordered gently and Jake grinned widely.

"Just don't tell Dr. Chasity I said you were the best," Jake insisted with an awkwardly nervous chuckle.

Emanuel couldn't help the laugh that erupted from him. "Oh I wouldn't dream of it, he's too high strung and arrogant," Emanuel remarked with a slight shake of his head and Jake nodded in an agreeing gesture.

"Oh he'd definitely chew my head off, then give me a lecture," Jake rolled his eyes and Emanuel shrugged with a chuckle.

"I concur,"
