🔯Chapter Three🔯

🔯Chapter Three🔯

“Why, that was horrible!”

“She’s the meanest witch in the land of Enkanta, Rosy!”

“It’s time, Rosy—time to be mad and fight that ugly witch! You can’t just sit there, saying yes or no to her,” Widow, the spider, madly exclaimed to her friend after witnessing how mean Lili was to her very own youngest daughter—as if she only had borne two children in the world. Anyway, the first time Lili laid her eyes to Rosy—she thought, God mistakenly gave her a child to raise.

Rosy was beautiful, too kind, knew nothing but happiness, and impeccable!

Rosy for Lili, Chelo, and Mia—was their family’s bad luck, a disgrace to the White family and the society of witches and wizards! Lili always heard shameful words against her own family—because of Rosy. Whenever she went, everyone looked at her for raising an unlikely child in the family—if not because of Oscar, her late husband, she would rather chose to leave the child the woods that night.

Rosy inhaled deeply and grasped for air to adjust her clogged lungs and control her heart’s thrash beating. She was hurt by her mother’s words.

“But I understand her, Widow.” They were still walking but she could saw now their house’s chimney. “and I don’t like to fight my mother.” Widow rolled her eyes out of annoyance. Lili scorned Rosy blatantly—and her sisters too, Chelo and Mia. With her pure heart, she wished to witness the awarding and nothing but to feel proud as how Lili felt for them.

What was the cruelty all about?

Widow was definitely livid and thought it was time to fight back.

Yet Rosy was determined to understand Lili, after all, she was her mother.

“And father told me to bear more patience. I vowed and I don’t want to break such promise..” Oscar’s wisdom lingered and all echoed inside her. Reminding Rosy to be kind, persevere, and do her best to better. And no matter how many times she was maltreated with words by Lili or Chelo and Mia, she’d always recollect the golden rule that her father, Oscar, instilled her.

Be good and you’ll be most shining gold.

“Ah, that’s nonsense, Rosy! After what she had done?” Widow was still in fury of how Lili treated her, in front of all those witches and wizards.

Rosy giggled and let Widow crawled unto her palm. She stared at her little friend with a creased face now. Widow had always told Rosy on how to be good to others too, just like Oscar but she would never wanted Rosy to be always tainted—especially people like Lili, Chelo , and Mia.

They were Rosy’s family!

What was a family for?

Well, that what made Rosy different from her sisters. Or others.

She always found peace amidst the chaos.

“Hmm, how about cleaning the whole house? Will you help me? The house was a total mess.” For once, Widow rolled her eyes again. Rosy unlocked the main door and went in. Her guess was right.

All used plates were left on the table, dishes on the kitchen sink, and trashes scattered all around.

“Why wouldn’t you let your sisters clean their own untidiness?” Sourly Widow asked. “ah right, you understand them. Right..” Yet she sarcastically answered it.

“C’mon, Widow. Will you be a great friend today?” Rosy pleaded to her friend. Well, she just wanted to deviate Widow and away from her madness against her mother.

“I am, your great friend.” Widow crossed her two arms.

Rosy then laughed. “I know. C’mon, let’s start cleaning, shall we?” Then Rosy started her chores—cleaning all the mess that she didn’t do. After all, Widow got her point. She was not being treated fairly here—as a daughter and sister but a pitiable maid with free amenity!

“Dinner is served!” Rosy placed her special menu, roasted Duck with special spices inside. She prepared it for them as they arrived—and celebrate her sister’s achievement for the entire semester.

She stood up behind Lili and awaited her command to let her eat with them. But usually, she ate after them since her father died.

But beyond reasons, she wished to share to everyone what had happened earlier. She unknowingly casted a spell to that wounded deer and it healed! Wasn’t it something to be..proud of? Well, Rosy was really hoping..

“What are you standing there?” Chelo blurted. She was eating without manners, well, the three of them. No fork and spoon, sniffing while eating the delicious food, but mostly, not thanking Rosy for the dinner being served!

Rosy plastered a wide smile on her face.

“Shall I grab a chair then?”

The three halted eating and gave her an owl eye.

“NO!” All together they’d replied to poor Rosy’s false hope. She breathed and was ready to open another words—she was really excited to tell them about her magic skill. She never done good in the academy not until today, in the woods.

“You, Rosy, will never put me in embarrassment again. Do you understand?” Lili professed with stone cold words. She was implying of Rosy’s abrupt presence in the academy hall earlier.

“I’m sorry, mother.” On the contrary, she got nothing to apologize for. What she did was to give her proudest provision to her sisters and yet, it still made her a great embarrassment to her family.

“Now, the high royals handed precious gifts to each family.” Lili took out this black box and placed it on the table. Chelo and Mia’s hands reached for it but Lili immediately tapped their hands out of it.

“Patience!” Lili yelled out. She composed back while Rosy was very curious what was inside it. Precious gifts from the high royals?

Sounds amazing! Rosy all thought.

“An invitation to Prince Erik’s natal day, is it!” Mia day dreamed, closing her eyes, and both clasped her hands, as if she was pretty enough to be noticed.

“Are we get invited in the Kingdom of Sparsha! Oh my, Rosy, you should wash all our gowns by tomorrow and I want it neatly folded.” Like Mia, Chelo was hoping too! She was talking about the gowns they bought lately—as if it’ll perfectly fit their ugliness!

Uhm, excuse me, I was carried away by my emotions. Seriously.

Then a small cockroach went out from the box and Rosy’s eyes went straight to her little friend who checked the box first.

“It’s not an invitation, Rosy. These are magic wands!” Oh? The cockroach spilled it as she heard his thoughts before it flew away.

“It’s not an invitation.” Rosy immediately cut their hopes, well, unintentionally. But all their eyes shut down and madly looked back at her.

“Huh! Jealous are you?” Chelo sourly said to her. She then immediately denied that she was just being jealous! Rosy shook her head.

“Girls, behold.. It’s now time to receive your magic wands.” Lili announced as everyone eyed inside the box as it was slowly opened by their mother. She took the wands and placed on the table.
