Chapter 7

Back at my old job the only thing I did, day in and day out, was go through files.

To say my old boss was a dick, was a pretty huge understatement.

From working over hours, to reducing my lunch times, to making me try to do things that were pretty much against the law of not only the government but also of morals and ethics.

There was also that other thing, but my entire being always shied away from that topic, it was an almost reflex action.

An action I am grateful for.

People told me that I had nothing to be embarrassed about, that it was completely my bosses fault.

But the thing is, I couldn't help but feel that it was my fault.
Maybe it had been him, my former boss to be exact, that drilled the thought into my head.

Or maybe it was just my way of thinking or something that made me believe I was responsible for the things that happened.

As usual, whenever my brain went in that direction, I snap back to what I am doing.

Refusing to go back to my thoughts.

It is a comfort I am incredibly thankful for and am lucky to have.

Putting my mind back to the present, I continue to stare blankly at a talking Alexander.

I am sitting in one of the many conference rooms that reside in the huge building.

The plain dull coloured walls do nothing to help me stay awake but straining with all the will I have, I mange to keep my eyes open.

All day I've been running around with Mr.
Alexander.

From one conference room to the next.

Repeating the same process.

Smiling at everyone politely, handing out identical files in front of every person on the long tables, that usually contain more than ten people, taking a seat right at the back of the room, watching Alexander talk, writing every single word that comes out of his mouth, and then all the questions and statements that leave the other members mouth.

I know for a fact my poor hand will be cramped from writing for so long.

This has to have been the tenth conference or so and I find myself admiring the man that is talking.

The energy that Alexander James seems to posses.

No matter what I may say, or think of the guy, I know one thing that is a fact.

He loves doing what he does, and he sure excels at it.

Even from his serious and no emotion facade, you can tell how strong he feels about his business and everything that revolves around it.

I could tell all of this just by being around him for a whole day.

That's basically what I've been doing for this past hour.

For this specific conference Alexander had told me that I didn't have to write anything down and I am incredibly grateful for that.

So I did what any sane person would do in my position.

I stared at him.

Like a perv.

I mean can you blame me?

That man is like the perfect specimen.

He's the type of guy that you could just stare at all day.

The type of guy that if you saw him in public, you'd nudge your friends and not so discreetly point at and then gush all over him.

As much as it pains me to say, he was some girls dream man.

Incredibly handsome, loaded with money, had smarts, incredibly successful, and all that jazz.

For me, he was a bit too cocky and arrogant and big headed and had an ego the size of Mt.
Everest.

I'm pretty sure most of those words meant the same thing but I mean I had to get my point across.

Good looks just didn't cut it for me.
Personality was key.

But hey, I'm not judging anyone just because I wasn't the gold digger type.

To each his or well her own.

Yup, that's my life motto right there.

Looking at him once more I take note.

The way he captures every single persons attention.

He talks and answers questions and asks some of his own from the other people in the room.

The others dare not look away from him, not only because they are scared of him but also because of the respect they hold for the man.

The man who is only twenty six years old.

I did some research on him, more like stalked him on the internet but that's beside the point.

After that embarrassing event that took place, which basically resulted in my unfortunate job replacement from Mr.
Stevens to working with the devil himself, I went home and started googling him.

I read all about how he graduated early from university, at the top of his class in business and what not.

As soon as he graduated from university his next stop was to rent a small building in which he started to build the base of his business and gradually turned it into a fully grown empire with chains across the whole world.

Then I went into his personal life.

According to the various net working sights, he hadn't had any one specific girlfriend.

At nearly every single event he went to, wether it was a fund raiser or some fancy business dinner, there was always a different woman on his arm.

From famous models to actresses and all that jazz.

Each and every single one of them more beautiful than the next.

I am taken out of my thoughts when someone utters my name, or more specifically Alexander does.

"Nora my assistant here, will hand you all some files which you will need to read and in a few days or so we will regroup and discuss everything again and make some changes here and there".

With that, I get up and start to hand everyone the small files that I had lying beside me.

Me being incredibly clumsy I drop one of the files on the ground and bend down to get it, being careful not to flash anyone.

As I stand up and place the file back in front of the person whom is in his late fifties and is staring up at me with a creepy smile on his face.

Looking up in confusion I see Alexander clenching his jaw so tight I'm surprised it doesn't hurt.

"The meeting is over, get out everyone" snaps an angry Alexander.

Well that was blunt.

Everyone rushes out of the room so fast that one of them almost trips.

Before rushing out of the room, the old guy turns back to me and winks while I just continue to stand there looking incredibly confused.

Turning to look back at Alexander, I see him striding towards me, fast.

Stepping back I only manage to take one step back as I am cornered in between the table and a fast approaching Alexander.

He stand right in front of me, getting into my personal space.

Shoving his face close to mine, I tilt my head back.

Leaning into me once more, he brings his lips close to my cheek, so close I can feel the slight stubble on his jaw tickle my cheek.

I gulp as my heart starts to hammer in my chest at an increasing pace.

"I would prefer you to not bend down in front of my employes like that and show your ass off to them".

My mouth falls open as I try and lean my head back further but stop as he places one hand on my waist, squeezing tight, and the other around the back of my neck, preventing me from moving any further.

"I on the other hand am a completely different story.
You can bend over for me any day baby".

As he says that he lets me go and gives me a once over.

My face is blazing red and I am sure he can see it too.

My jaw drops down so low, it's probably touching the carpeted floor.

Quickly snapping it shut I open my mouth to say something but he beats me to it.

"It's getting late, you should head home now".
