Unending Lies

Unending Lies

Loke's Point of ViewI start puffing the cigarette in my mouth as I watch the news on the television. My gaze is locked on the screen, staring at the news blankly."The Famous Writer of Era 2563, with the pen name, TheLokes was sued due to writing a fabrication about the teen artist, Verdict Morse. His license was cut off and his four books, especially the newest titled "Lovers Between" are now burned in front of the Town's Square." I reach for the television's remote and presses the button to turn it off. "Fuck, what is life?" throwing myself off to my bed. I looked at the ceiling and stared at the fan for several minutes. I sighed out of frustration."I'm just a writer. I was sued for telling that Verdict is using drugs to enhance its acting skills. Writers are not that powerful." I bite my lower lip and start closing my eyes."Loke." someone whispered.A shadow appeared in front of where I was standing. The four books that I have written is floating in front of the shadow. I gasped and stared at it."Who are you?" I asked. I tried to reach out to my books but it suddenly disappears including the shadow."Have you forgotten that you are the Era's Writer?" a voice asked."I was sued. I can't do anything about that." I looked down and remembers the day when they arrested me in my office."So, are you going to stop writing? It's been half a year, TheLokes." the voice asked."How can I start over when that book I've written ruined my career?" I asked. I tried to look at the place where I am standing but it's a black orb that I can't see anything."Start Over." a smoke was blown away towards my position that made me close my eyes. "Start Over." I heard it again. My phone rang that made me sat on my bed. It's already 6 a.m. in the morning. I got up from my bed and lazily walked towards the bathroom. As I was looking towards the mirror, I stared at the reflection on it."Fuck." I murmured.I stared at my reflection once again. It was me, 20 years ago. It was my face when I was still in Senior High School. It was my face, looking at the features of my body and I saw how it changed. "What the hell?" I shouted.Footsteps came running towards my room. The door opened and I saw my sister looking at me."What's wrong with you, Loke? Eat now. Or you'll be late for school." and stormed out of my room.I looked back again at my reflection and stared at it for a couple of minutes. I can't believe what I am seeing. It was definitely me, but 20 years younger."Loke." my sister shouted."Fine!" I shouted back and started preparing for school.I was fixated when I saw my high school uniform in my closet. So this was the shadow means? So this is start over? How can I start over? I sighed and stormed out of my room bringing my old backpack."Slowpoke." she teased me.I hissed and sat at the table. I looked at the pancakes and the hot milk serve in front of me. I pulled off a smile and start eating. I was just smiling while eating since I missed being in this scenario of my life. When I turned 30, I decided not to get married or find a wife since I have a goal in mind to keep writing. When I turned 37, things got fucked up and I thought that writing wasn't fun anymore."The school bus is here. Let's go." I nodded and stood up. My eyes wandered around the house and looked at photo frames around the house. When my sister looked back at me, I followed her out since I hate it when she keeps on bugging me.When we climbed the bus, I decided to seat at the end corner of the bus. I opened my bag and found the iPod and earphones that made me smile. My eyes were driven away by a pen. I gold plated fountain pen. I grabbed it out of my bag and stared at it."Now, start over." the voice, I heard it again.
