Chapter 1

It was my biggest book signing in Era 2557. I already wrote two books in total and due to the high demand for the last book I published, Accuracy and Precision: Love Percentage, the Revolters Publishing Company commanded me to have a book signing. Over five million people bought my book in just a year.

Fixing up the white tuxedo and letting the hairstylist brush my hair was a dream for me. I was nervous, my hands are trembling and even the fountain pen that has a gold plated name of mine was given by the Revolters Publishing Company. The backstage director walked towards where I was seated.

"Mr. Loke, you'll be entering the stadium in 10 minutes." I nodded and looked at myself in the mirror once again.

When I turned 30, I have hopelessly decided not to have a wife. I don't think I give her enough time since I love writing and I'm drawn to the fact that I was very happy about making my readers being in the air or feeling how loving someone is really a dream. I was fixated on the fact that books in the reason for my existence. Writing makes me feel alive.

"You're ready, Mr. Loke." I nodded and stood up.

I smiled at the mirror once again and leave the room. I was at the back of the stadium when some of the assigned people backstage are eager to take pictures of me. I smiled at them and nodded, given them the time to give my appreciation for handling my book signing. When the backstage director walks in my direction, they all stopped and continue what they are doing.

"You're going out in 3 minutes, Mr. Loke." I nodded, smiling at him.

I heard the shouts of the people from the arena when the host started to fill in with his introduction. I put my right hand on my pocket, gripping for the fountain pen while holding with my left hand the new book that I've published.

"Let's have the author of the best-selling book of Accuracy and Precision: Love Percentage for its second book signing at Era 2557." I heard the host declared.

"TheLokes." they all shouted.

I gave my best smile when the curtains began to roll up. The spotlight was directed at me. I can't even hear the background music. The stadium was filled with the chanting of the people inside and made me smile.

"Hello." and they shouted again, chanting and screaming for my name.

It made me chuckled. I walk towards the sofa that was prepared by the staff and sat down, looking happily at the crowd.

"Each one of you has 3 minutes to have a meet and greet, and have your book signed by TheLokes. The chosen 10 winners of the raffle earlier will have a photo opportunity and a 5-minute meet and greet, a special book that TheLokes will release next year as a souvenir, and have your book signed."

I saw the first 10 persons who lined up beside the stage of the stadium. I can see their beautiful smiles and how happy their eyes are. The first one climbs up the stairs and is shrieking, running towards me.

"The Lokes!" she shouted, opening her arms.

I stood up and hugged her. The crowd started to chant and scream. I pointed to the seat in front of me and smiled at her. I sat in front of her and offered my hand. She gave me the book yet she didn't remove her stares from me.

"What's your name?" I looked at her.

"Erelah." and then she smiled.

"Erelah means Angel in Hebrew." I started to sign the book and imprint her name with my signature.

I saw her blushed and looked away. She offered her polaroid camera to the one in charge of a photo opportunity. I stood up and sat beside her, leaving her a surprising face that made me chuckled. I smiled at the camera and then it started clicking.

"Can you take two photos? Is it okay, Erelah? I'm going to keep the other one." I smiled when she nodded.

And that was another light strike through the camera. I took a book on the sofa and gave it to her. It was my third book that will be published next year.

"I hope you'll have fun reading that Erelah." as she gave me the other photo of us.

"I will TheLokes. Please continue writing! I love you!" she shouted and bid me goodbye when the in-charge declared that her time was up.

I was looking at the polaroid of both of us that made me smile. The readers in this Era, my supporters, and the people that made me stand up here is my inspiration.

I looked at my wristwatch when the last person in the line was finished and it was already 10 PM in the evening. I smiled at the people, hiding behind the curtains who didn't get a chance to have a photo with me.

"Can you put my food in my room? I'll go there after having taking pictures with them." the chef nodded and walked towards the path of my room.

The people behind my success. I walked in their direction and offered to have a photo with them. The smiles carved in their faces are priceless. The chanting and laughter of them are music to my ears. Life was a rollercoaster ride indeed. Nothing beats happiness inside our hearts except for pain and suffering.
