Chapter 2: Mischievous

“DO YOU want me to give you a quick tour here in Perfect University?” Jayan asked Charlie sweetly after they had lunch outside the university and just spending their remaining vacant time sitting on the bench. “I’m more than willing to do anything for you, Charlie—”

“I don’t need you,” Charlie said without looking at the woman. “And, please, Jayan, stop acting as if we’re in a relationship.

Jayan’s sweet smile vanished. “How could you say that to me? I’m your fiancée!

Charlie shifted his gaze to the woman. “Fiancée? Who told you that I’m going to marry you?” he smirked. “My mother wanted me to be close to you because your father has a fair share of stocks in our company, but that doesn’t mean that she will force me to marry you.

“Our parents have talked about it, Charlie. And they both agreed that we’re getting married after we graduated in college,” Jayan told him in between her teeth.

Charlie can see clearly that she was furious at him. But he doesn’t care. “Jayan, we both know that you never caught my attention.

“I hate you,” she said and raised from her seat. “You’ll regret this, Charlie.

“Tell that to your parents,” he said and waved good-bye at her. “Such a pretty puppet,” he said and looked at the trees that surround the benches. “It’s not really that bad here, though.

Charlie looked around the school ground of Perfect University. He doesn’t understand why his mother has to transfer him here if he wouldn’t really marrying that spoiled brat. Jayan was his childhood sweetheart, but when he flew to California, his feelings for her faded and were replaced by disgust. Charlie realized that the woman only wanted his company stocks, that’s why she’s nice to him before.

He didn’t expect that gold diggers also exist in a well-raised family. He was about to leave the bench when he saw the two female students walking towards the library. The woman in a bright pink dress caught his attention, not because she has a pretty face but because of her dress color. It was as if her dress is screaming for her.

The woman in pink dress waved at the professor standing in the doorway of the library. Just a few moments after, they were both walking towards the bench a few meters away from him. Charlie leaned on the backseat comfortably as he watched the two talk privately.

A couple of minutes later, the professor walked away, leaving the female student in bright pink dress speechless. Charlie stared at the woman’s shocked expression. It looked as if she’s going to cry at any moment. Out of curiosity and concern that the woman might break down, Charlie decided to approach her. But, the other woman that she’s with ran to her first.

Charlie turned his back at them before the woman could notice him. He was about to walk away from them when he heard the woman spoke. He looked back to see who own that soft voice.

“He just left me…” the woman in a bright pink dress said. “I can’t believe it, Roha.

“Shen, I told you to think about it again, right?” the woman she called Roha answered. “Confessing to the professor is against the rule.

“There are no rules in love,” the woman named Shen and was also in a bright pink dress, countered emotionally. “My heart doesn’t live by the book. I love Yohan, and I’ve been in love with him for freakin’ three years!

Charlie wanted to laugh at the woman’s dramatic remarks. He didn’t expect there’s still a woman like her that stayed loyal to their childhood crushes.

“I’ve got to do something,” Shen said. “I can’t just let him ignored me! I didn’t enroll here at Perfect University just to get ignored by Yohan.

“Shen, why don’t you wait for our graduation? Sir Yohan is just following the school rules.

Charlie was impressed that her friend is trying to convince her to stop her insanity. If she tolerates her friend, they might both end up an undergraduate of Perfect University. Charlie was aware of the University Rules because his mother’s secretary told him about it. The university is strict when it comes to its students and professors. They don’t want to be dragged by scandals that involve professors and students, just like what this woman is doing and planning to do again.

“No,” Shen said in a stern voice. “I will do anything to make Yohan fall for me.

Charlie’s brows furrowed. He looked back at the woman and was shocked by her expression. She doesn’t look brokenhearted. Instead, she looked determined and full of energy.

“Roha, you told me before that your family used to live in Quiapo, right?

“Yes, why?” Roha asked, then gasped. “What are you trying to do, Shenaida?

Charlie studied the woman’s face. From being a sweet girl, she transformed into an evil witch who was up to something mischief. When the woman stepped closer to her friend, Charlie stepped back towards them to hear their conversation.

“I need to find an effective love potion that will make Yohan fall crazily in love with me,” the woman said, followed by a kind of laugh that gave goosebumps to Charlie.

“ARE YOU sure about it, Shen?” Roha asked her while they’re walking towards their afternoon class.

“Do I look like I’m just kidding?” Shen asked back. “I’m determined to do anything just to get Yohan. I want to see him chasing after me, begging for my attention, and pleading for me to love him.

Roha frowned at her. “What if the love spell that we got wasn’t effective. You know well that there’s a lot of quack at Quiapo, Manila.

“I’ll still try it,” she said, spread her arms in the air and moved it back and forth. “Anything and everything—” Her hand hit somebody. She looked on her side and quickly apologized. “I’m sorry.

But the man just scowled at her. “Who told you that you can spread your arms in the air while walking in the crowded hallway?

Shen opened her mouth, but nothing came out. She didn’t expect his reaction to what she did. And, he was scowling at her as if she’d done a crime.

“Shen, he’s the transferee student that I was telling you a while ago,” Roha whispered on her back.

“Transferee?” she asked in a knotted forehead. If he’s just a transferee, then why he’s acting as if he owns this school? The heat started to rise on Shen’s ears. The nerve of this transferee! “Hey! Who told you that you can shout at me?!

The arrogant transferee just disgustingly looked at her. “I don’t have time in acting entitled students like you,” he said and smirked. “Loser.

Shen’s jaw dropped. “What the—”

“Charlie! Charlie Yun!” The female students around the hallway started to gather around the arrogant transferee. “It’s really you, OMG!

Shen’s brows furrowed. “What’s up with them?

“I heard that Charlie is a popular student from Bloom University,” Roha informed her. “He’s a part-time model and actor in leading TV network in the country.

“Really?” Shen asked in disbelief and looked at the man again, but she looked away when he shifted his gaze at her. “Let’s go. I don’t have time for this because I need to see my Yohan!
