CHAPTER 10

Unknown POV

"She's no longer in sight?! How could you lose her location?" I bellowed. I stared at two red haired apprentices that stood in my chambers. Their heads bowed in fear at my voice.

"We didn't your lordship. She just vanished into thin air. I tried the location spell again and it didn't work." One of them spoke. I couldn't figure out who in particular. Probably could be Aurora because she's more outspoken than Eve.

Evelyn is my niece and no matter how much I try to make her more like me, she tends to bend towards her weak mother’s personality.

Timid fellow. It disgusts me.

"Send out troops to the Rhode island. I want to have a word with their alpha. Those animals." I spat.

The two duo turned to leave but I called back Eve. She waited back but didn't look up at me.

I walked up to her and placed my cane under her chin and raised her face up so we were at eye level.

I could see hatred swimming in those green pools and I wondered why she hated me so much.

Because I killed her parents or I held her hostage and made her an apprentice against her desire.

"Hating me won't result to anything positive. Instead, it makes it more interesting for me to keep trying to make you hate me more." I caressed her cheek with my fingers as I walked around her.

She didn't say a word or even make any body movement. She was still like a statue.

"Evelyn. I'm talking to you!" I bellowed at her when her silence became irritating to me.

"I heard you Uncle. You don't have to shout. What more do you want me to say? That I would change my perspective about you? " She sassed me.

I chuckled. No matter how much she talks back at me, I couldn't hate her.

I may have killed her parents but it was for her own good. My brother and his wife were not strong enough to rule the magic world. Magic is power and it's need for someone stronger to wield it. I took the position and gave the world a better option.

Me.

"How has your training been? Coping well with your abilities?" I asked her.

"Uncle don't try to be nice to me. I'm very good thanks to you making me an orphan." She said and walked out banging the door behind her.

I sighed softly. She really needs to toughen up. Everything I can be is through her. I couldn't kill her with her parents because she's part of my plan. As much as I don't like being nice in my life, I have to be to win her over. Her abilities are very important to me.

I needed her as much as I need air to live.

Once I get the ability I want from her, I toss her away just like I did with her parents. For now I'll endure all these stupidity she displays.

 ******

"So how is she now? Did she enjoy the date?" Roman asked me as we sat at the pack's famous bar; Lone wolf bar.

I took a long sip of my bourbon. "She is feeling better now. Cried twice on my chest." I said as I remember her sniffing sounds.

Roman gave me a raised eyebrow and I shook my head.

"Nope. I didn't do anything you're picturing in your mind. She gave it as a condition for us to go on dates. I'm planning to keep to it. " I said with sincerity.

Roman laughed out loud. " You Nate? Keep to such condition? I guess hell is about to freeze up.

I shook my head. "Don't be ridiculous. I am not so loose as you think. I can control myself."

"I didn't say you are but I'm not buying this idea of yours. But anyway I would like to see you in this new path."

"Fuck off " I said to him with a chuckle.

"I'm going to place my bet on you losing. I'll have to tell Lake about this. I know she might support you. Oh my dearest Nate" He mocked me and laughed.

I didn't say anything else than let him laugh at my situation, then after a while I turned to him.

"What information have you gotten about Lily's mother?" I asked.

Roman took a long sip from his vodka. " I made some calls to some of my old friends from Lily's pack. They said they don't really know who Lily's birth mother is."

I frowned and tried to reason the meaning of what they said.

"Are they saying that Lily's mother now isn't her birth mother? They know the truth?"

Roman nodded. " They all know except Lily. I wonder why no one told her.".

"So who knows Lily's birth mother?"

"Well according to them, Lily's father left the pack when he was a teenager and returned back when he was in his young adulthood. But he came back with a baby. The next week,he found his mate and that's how Lily's mother became her mom."

Roman explained.

I breathed out. "It's getting stranger than I imagined it will be”.

Roman nodded. "The only way to get an idea about her birth mother is through her adopted mother now."

"How do you mean?"

"They said only her father knew who her birth mother was, no one else. There's every possibility that he must have told his mate who she was."

Roman was right. He must have told his mate about their daughter's birth mother.

"We're going to go there alone. I'll contact the nurse looking after her to let her know we're coming for a brief visit."

I needed to find her for Lily. I know how she feels about snapping at her mother now. It would be bad to hide such information from her.

"I need to report to Dad. I haven't told him anything yet." He said. " I just wanted to let you know first."

I smiled. "Thanks brother. I owe you one."

Roman raised his glass at me and took a sip. "I'll still bet on you losing though. I'll let Lake know about this even though I know she would support you. I don't care."

I laughed at him. " You'll be surprised at how much I can keep up" I said with a puffed chest.
