Chapter 13 Don't Ask What You Shouldn't Ask

After leaving the HY Group, Megan quickly found a pharmacy, bought some ice cubes and anti-inflammatory drugs, and then returned home.

Fortunately, Jacob, her son, was sent to the kindergarten by Lorraine. Otherwise, if he saw her appearance, he may ask her a lot of questions.

Sometimes Megan was grateful to God for giving her such an angel, Jacob, when she was most desperate. Although he was still young, he really cared about her.

Thinking of his son, Megan looked slightly mollified.

When she got home, she put the ice on her face, and it was so cold that she squinted her eyes.

Melissa hadn't become Mrs. Yankey yet. Why?

She had already given birth to a son for Nelson, which was a meritorious deed, and Nelson also had feelings for her, for he was going to kill her as his wife for her, wasn't he? But why didn't he marry her?

Megan couldn't figure it out, so she felt she needed to investigate what was really going on here. But the slap that Melissa gave her today couldn't be forgotten easily.

Since Nelson was eager to cooperate with the H' J, he would definitely ask Melissa to apologize. Even if Nelson was in front of her, she could still slap her. After all, she was no longer his wife, Megan.

The old Megan five years ago had been dead in that fire.

Megan seemed to still be able to feel the heat and the pain of her skin in the burning fire, and she was so painful, so heartbreaking and desperate. That feeling was something she would never forget even if she went to hell.

She would never let go of anyone who caused her such pain!

Megan covered half her face and went to the bedroom. She didn't report it to the head office, and she just lay in bed and slept quietly.

Ted quickly found out Megan's address. However, when he handed it to Nelson, Nelson's eyes narrowed again.

It was Lorraine's home!

He remembered that Megan's best friend was Lorraine.

This woman, Catherine, not only had the same surname as Megan but also lived in Megan's best friend's house. Was there really no problem with this?

Or was she Megan?

At the thought of this, Nelson unconsciously clenched his fists.

"Investigate her for me. No matter what method you use, I need to know all the information about Catherine. Especially the information from five years ago."

Nelson's words stunned Ted.

"Mr. Yankey, Catherine's information has been kept very secret by the head office in the United States. We possibly couldn't find it, and someone has checked it before, but they find nothing."

"Then investigate her through an informal channel."

Nelson's words stunned Ted once again.

Ted knew exactly what kind of channel the informal one was, but Nelson hadn't used it for many years. He didn't expect him to use it for Catherine, so he was very curious.

"Mr. Yankey, what's wrong with Catherine?"

"Don't ask what you shouldn't ask."

Hearing Nelson's warning, Ted flinched.

"Yes, I'm going to investigate her immediately."

After Ted left, Nelson lit a cigarette irritably.

He hadn't smoked for a long time, but today he desperately needed a cigarette to ease his irritation.

Was it really a coincidence that the two with different faces had the same figure and pace, and even their friends are the same?

But if she was really Megan, why didn't she recognize him? She still remembered how much Megan loved him five years ago.

What exactly happened five years ago?

Someone wrote on social media that when Megan privately dated with her lover, she had been caught in a fire and had no bones left. He didn't believe it. How could a woman who loved him deeply fall in love with another man so quietly? But the two bodyguards were missing, and Megan's body was nowhere to be found. No one knew what had happened at that time.

He remembered that Megan was pregnant five years ago. That was their child, and probably died in the fire, right?

Nelson's brows were tightly furrowed. The smoke flickered and soon burned his fingers.

He shivered violently and quickly put out his cigarette, staring blankly at the black spots on his fingers.

He still remembered that Megan was very afraid of pain. The fire spread really fast that it burned everything around. How much pain she had suffered from at that time?

Nelson was no longer in the mood to work. He grabbed his suit jacket and quickly left the office.

"Mr. Yankey, where are you going?"

"Go out. Postpone all the meetings today."

Nelson then disappeared at the door of the office, leaving behind a stunned secretary.

This was Mr. Yankey's first time skipping work.

Nelson didn't care what others thought about him. He quickly started the car and went straight to Lorraine's house.

The doorbell kept ringing.

Megan woke up from her sleep, feeling very weak.

She knew it wasn't Lorraine, because she had the key, and she didn't order anything. So who would knock on the door?

Melissa?

If it was her, Megan didn't intend to open the door for her so easily.
