My Summer Love

Hello, my name is Cadence Brown and this is my love story. I had never been one to believe in love from the beginning. I had always thought that maybe I wasn't just bound to fall in love or have a boyfriend because I mean...my acquaintances have had boyfriends even if they broke up with them... but at least, they had one and then you see me, a seventeen year old girl who hasn't even scored a date talk more of having a boyfriend. I do not allow it to get to me because I have already come to the conclusion that love is not meant for me and I have no problem with it. Whatever life has to offer me, I roll with it because I can't wait for something that isn't there and also because I was too scared to risk my little heart.

"Hello you!" my best friend Lilliana said as she came up behind me and threw a hand over my shoulder. I looked at her and smiled. Lilliana Price, the bestest friend of all times with her dirty blonde hair, blue eyes and killer body, well I was proud to have at least a best friend I could flaunt in everyone's faces.

"Hello to you to Lilly"

"So how are you preparing for the best season of the year?" she asked. She was tal;king about summer that was about to start and honestly, I didn't have anything planned but if you count stuffing my face with both actual and sugary food all day and watching Netflix shows through out then yes, I do have plans for the summer... the best plans ever known.

"Well I don't really have anything planned out.. what about you?" She looked at me with nasty eyes and I just grinned at her in return.

"You're kidding right? How don't you have anything planned out? I thought we were going to spend the summer together?" I turned to look at her.

"But I thought you were spending your summer with your boyfriend?" I asked her. A flash of sadness passed through her eyes but she smiled.

"You're more important and don't worry, we'll have more time to spend together later. I smiled at her. This was what I loved about Lilly. She was always ready to do anything to make me happy... sometimes she made me think she could literally leave her boyfriend for me if I wasn't okay and that was what she was doing now.

"Lilly I'm fine spending the summer alone. Please don't stop your plans with your boyfriend all because of your single best friend okay?" I assured her and she shook her head.

"Nope. come on. I'm sure Jason would be cool with it and don't you want to spend time with your awesome best friend?" I smiled at her again.

"Of course I would like to spend time with you but not this summer Lilly. You have to hang out with Jason and I don't want him to start hating me cause it seems like I'm the one you're dating. Lilly I'll be fine... maybe my mum has got something planned out for us." I shrugged... she casted me a 'sorry' look.

"I'm so sorry for not spending the summer with you. Are you sure you'll be okay?"

"I will Lilly! I'm still going to see you at my house once in awhile so don't make it seem like you're travelling." I laughed but she didn't do the same.

"Wait.. are you travelling with Jason?" I asked her and she nodded her head, guilt shown clearly on her face.

"I'm so sorry I didn't tell you sooner... I didn't mean to not tell you .. I ju-" I squealed and hugged her tightly."Oh my days... where are you guys going to? Come on, tell me!"

"Shhh.. lower down your voice." she said, blushing.

"Well?"

"He planned a summer holiday for the both of us. I was going to already spend the summer in California with my aunt and when I told him about it, he was so happy because he also was already planning to spend his summer there so.. yeah." I hugged her one more time.

"I'm so happy for you! You're leaving the town before we go to... college." I said the last part with a little bit of sadness as it dawned on me. I didn't even know if I would see Lilly again before we leave for college.

"Don't worry! I'm not leaving for college immediately.. I'll still come back home." She assured me and I grinned at her, trying not to show the sadness and loneliness I would feel once she was gone. I stood outside my house and gave her one last hug.

"So when are you leaving?" I asked.

"Tomorrow" She replied. I really wanted to sag my shoulders but I didn't. Lilly needed to spend more time with her boyfriend. It was good for them to have this summer getaway together because I didn't want Jason breaking my friend's heart and so they needed to spend more time together even if it was my last summer before I leave for New York.

"I'm going to miss you." I told her as I gave her one last bear hug.

"Me too.. there's no one to annoy in California" She rolled her eyes and I laughed.

"Go pack your stuff Lilly.. bye." I said and waved which she did back and then I entered into my house.

"Mum? You home?" I called out.

"In you room!" She yelled back... I frowned at that. Why is she in my room? I went upstairs and saw her folding clothes into my suitcase.

"Mum, what's going on?" I asked her.

"Well honey I have a work trip I need to leave for by tomorrow morning so you're going to stay with a friend of mine." I stared at her. Oh, come on! What was all this now?

"Come on mum, I'm no more in high school... I can stay home alone now. " I said, trying to convince her.

"I'll be gone for the whole summer but right on time to take you to college." She said.

"Still, that doesn't make any difference. Come on mum"

"No Cadence. You'll be leaving for California tomorrow and that is final!" She said, trying to make her voice sound authoritative.

"Wait... California?"

"Yes and I don't really care what y-"

"Okay mum.. I'll go." She looked up at me.

"Really? No arguments? Okay then, its settled. Wow, if you start behaving like this, I might consider leaving you home alone." I just rolled my eyes and grinned.

"Mum, you don't have to go to Cali with me.. I could just go to Lilly's house tomorrow morning so we could travel together cause she's spending her summer there." I told her.

"Better for me... thank goodness. I'll drop you off tomorrow morning say 9am?"

"Yes mum." I did a little party dance in my head . I can't wait to see Lilly's reaction when I surprise her.

A scream broke out in Lilly's room. I closed my ears as I glared at her.

"You're really coming with me? We're spending the summer together? I can't wait for us to wear our little bikinis and go on double dates and have so much fun." I was quiet when she talked about us wearing bikinis. I wasn't really a big fan of my body and so I was okay in my baggy clothes. I was fat. I know Lilly would kill me if she heard me ever say this but I couldn't just help think that way. I had tried stepping back on how I eat but I really like food so.. its pretty hard and so I'm just really sad and insecure about everything that concerns me. I was a fat teenager who had never dated. I finally realized she said something about double dates.

"What do you mean double dates?" I asked her with a frown causing her to grin widely.

"Well Jason said he's staying with his cousin who's twenty-one and is at his parent's house. Apparently, he came home for the summer and would be going back to D.C soon considering that's where he stays or schools.. I don't know. Oh well... what if some sparks fly between the both of you? This summer, my best friend is going to fall in love.: She said and sighed dreamily. I slapped her arm and she frowned at me.

"What did you do that for?" I shrugged.

"I don't know.. maybe cause you're seeing me with a boy who's by far older than me." She rolled her eyes at me.

"Its just four years Cade.. stop making it a big deal!"

"I'm still a minor.. remember? It would be seen as child abuse and its not like I'm considering it at all. I bet he's seen finer girls than me so... please.. I don't need to hear all these." I told her and she shook her head at me. We heard a car honk outside signaling Jason was here to pick us up so we could go to the airport.

"Come on, let's go have the summer of our lives." She said grinning, took her suitcase in one hand and held my hand as I did the same.

"Is it time to go?" Lilly's mum asked as we came downstairs.

"Yes mum... please no hugging again... my arms still ache from before." Lilly's said and I laughed.

"Bye Mrs. Price." I said and we waved at her.

"Bye girls... have fun! But I don't want to be a grandmother yet!" She said after and I went into full bushing mode. Oh. My. Days. Why would she say that?

"Oh my gosh... that's my mother." Lilly's said, shaking her head and face palming herself.

"Hey babe." Jason said grinning before pecking her head and I blushed and awwwed at that. Their relationship was so beautiful but I was still scared for my best friend. I didn't want her heart to get broken.

"Hey Jace." That was her nickname for him. She pecked his lips and hugged him. They literally forgot I was standing here and I didn't blame their PDA.. they hadn't see for a whole week... so to them, that's really long not seeing each other.

"I missed you Lils." He said and smiled lovingly at her. Okay... that's it.

"I know you guys missed each other but the PDA is a bit much for me so if you would please wait till we reach California then you can showcase it when I'm in my house there." I said with so much sweetness making them laugh.

"Whatsup Cade?" Jason greeted and I nodded my head.

"I'm good." And from there, we were off to California for our last summer before college.

"Aunty Maddie!" Lilly yelled and hugged a woman who seemed to be in her mid- thirties.

"How are you dear? You've grown so well...Damn, I would love a body like yours!" Okay... her aunty seemed cool.

"See Lilly... I'm right!" Jason said to her making her turn red. Aunty Maddie smirked as she eyed Jason up and down.

"And who could this piece of candy be?"

"Aunty Maddie you have a husband!" Lolly exclaimed but she just shrugged.

"Oh please... I'm sure Dave knows I'm his already even if I might compliment others." Lilly shook her head whereby I grinned. She finally looked at me.

"Hello dear... are you Cadence?" She asked and I nodded.

"Yes mam... its nice to meet you. "

"Mam? Do I look that old? I'm hurt." She wiped a fake tear.

"I'm sorry... didn't mean to come out insulting."

"Awww sweetie it's okay... you're so sweet. If only my little niece could be more like you." Lilly rolled her eyes muttering 'yeah yeah'

"So... uhh where are you staying Cade?"

"My mum's friend is picking me up. I'm about to call her."

"Okay, we'll wait for her to come before we leave." Lilly said.

"Really?"

"Of course! Why would we leave when we know you aren't home yet?" Aunty Maddie said and I smiled at her.

"Thank you so much aunty Maddie and Lilly." I called Mrs. Angela again and she finally picked.

"I'm her mam... at the airport."

"I'm also here sweetie. Let me come to the main picking up area." She cut the call and we waited.

"Aunty Angela!" Jason yelled and waved. Wait what? I looked to see who the woman was and wow, it was my mother's friend. This wasn't happening right now.

"Jace! My boy... give me a hug!" He put her in a bear hug. She then looked at me and smiled.

"Jace? You know Cadence?" She asked.

"Yes... we went to high school together." He replied.

"Hello Mrs. Angela... it's so nice to see you again." I smiled at her.

"You still remember me eh? You were so young the last time I was in Bearlog. You've grown to be a beautiful lady." I blushed at that.

"Thank you mam" and she nodded her head.

"Is this your friend?" She referred to Lilly and I nodded my head.

"Yes mam.. she came with Jason and I." she turned to look at Jason and smirked.

"She's the reason you finally agreed to come visit me in California eh?" She ratted him out and I could see a hint of pink on his cheeks.

"Aunty!" He exclaimed and I laughed at that. I turned to look at Lilly and she was just staring at Jason with lovey dovey eyes. She really liked him and he really liked her too. I could see it in both their words and actions towards each other. Oh how I wish- I shook my head to rid myself of those thoughts. I didn't need a boyfriend.

"Hello dear... you are so beautiful... what's your name?" Mrs. Angela asked Lilly and she blushed a little.

"I'm Lilliana Price mam. Its so nice to meet you. "She smiled at Lilly and turned to Jason with a poker face.

"And she's so respectful. Jason you better keep her well and respect her!" He nodded his head frantically and before I knew it, she was back to her smiling self.

"Cade could I talk to you?" Lilly said and we excused ourselves.

"Whatsup?"

"You're staying with his hot cousin! I told you were going to find love. This is just the beginning." She smirked and I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever... when are we meeting up?"

"Say tomorrow at noon?" She says and I'm about to agree when I remembered why I didn't want her staying back in Bearlog with me.

"Nahh.. why don't you and Jason spend time together first? That was your main reason coming here." She looked excited when I said that.

"Really?" I took her hand in mine.

"Of course... its okay Lilly." I smiled at her and she did back.

"Okay then... I'll ask Jace for his address so I could come tomorrow and we could go on a date. I've been really wanting to take him out." She said and sighed."That is so cute.." I pinched her cheeks and she swatted my hands away.

"Girls?! Could we finish this talk tomorrow? I have somewhere to be in an hour!" Mrs. Angela yelled. We went back to meet them.

"Bye Lilly."

"Bye Cade." She turned to look at Jason and smiled then waved at him.

"Bye Jace."

"Bye Lils" He said with so much sadness and nevr looked away from her eyes until his aunty slapped his arm making Lilly laugh. Damn, they were so cute. We both entered the car and were off to my new home for the summer

"Aaron? Are you home?" Aunty Angela called out as she dropped her keys on the counter.

"I'll be down in a minute." I heard a deep rich voice say from upstairs. My heart thumped as I heard footsteps coming down and I met eyes with a twenty one year guy who looked like an Adonis. He had black hair with bangs and I itched to shift it. He had beautiful hazel eyes that made me feel naked... like he could see right through me.

"Aaron?" Aunty Angela said and he finally turned to look at his mother.

"Mum! Hello" He greeted and hugged her.

"Jason! My man." He gave Jason a manly hug.

"Hey bro" He finally turned to look at me and my heart stopped. Why was I feeling like this? I'd never felt this way.

"And who is this mum?" He asked.

"That is my friend's daughter. She's going to be staying with us for the summer."

"Interesting." He said even if it was only me that heard him.

"Did you say something?"

"Huh? No.. Hello, I'm Aaron... its a pleasure to meet you." He said and brought out his hand for me to shake.

"Hi.." My voice came out as a squeak. He smiled a little. This didn't just happen. My little heart.

"May I know your name?"

"Hello Aaron.. I'm Cadence. Its also a pleasure to meet you." I said with all the confidence I could muster up. He smirked at me and took my hand and shook it and I think I was about to faint if not for the strong grip he shook my hand with.

"Well since we all know each other now, Aaron be a dear and direct Cadence to her room. Its the room beside yours." The smile left Aaron's face as soon as she said that. He turned to look at her but she gave him a pleading look. He started leaving to go upstairs and I followed quietly too.

"Here it is." He was about to leave when I stopped him.

"Why don't you want me to stay here? If its going to be a problem, I could always book a hotel-" he shook his head.

"That's not it.. you don't have to do that. Look, I'll talk to you later.. right now, I really don't want to speak to anyone. " He entered his room and closed the door. I sighed out at how bipolar he was and entered my new room for the summer. It was as big as mine back home and it was cozy so I liked it. I arranged my stuff and had a shower and slept off because I was really tired.

"Hello mum... morning" I said.

"Morning sweetie.. how are you? Do you like California?"

"Of course! Why won't I? Its really cool from the places I've seen as we were coming back from the airport yestreday."

"Okay then.. that's nice."

"I'll talk to you later mum.. I've gotta go help Mrs. Angela prepare breakfast. Bye" she said her goodbye and I cut the call and went downstairs to go help prepare dinner.

"Hey sweetie... good morning" Mrs. Angela said as she saw me coming downstairs.

"Good morning mam... what do you need me to help you with?" She gave me a warm smile.

"You're just like your mum.. always wanting to help out. There's nothing to help me with... this is breakfast so its an easy do." I nodded my head.

"Okay mam but I'll still stay in the kitchen incase you need any help." She smiled and nodded her head.

"So Cadence, how do you find my son?" she asked and I looked at her but her back was faced towards me.

"Uhmm... Aaron?"

"Yes... what do you think of him?" Okay... why was she asking this? I was speechless right now.

"Uhhh.. well.. considering I just met him yesterday, he seems cool... I guess." I said, careful not to say any wrong thing.

"Hm. Okay then. Well I'm just going to be straight forward with you." She stopped what she was doing and turned to look at me.

"I'll love for you and my son to be together.. you'll make a really nice couple." I blushed so hard I couldn't control it. She smiled as she saw my face.

"Mam... why do you think that?" I asked and she shrugged.

"I don't know, I just feel you'll look so good. Give it a chance. Your heart I mean." She smiled once more and turned back to continue what she was doing. I was about to leave the kitchen when I saw Aaron standing at the island of the kitchen, he looked like he was trying to fight back a smile causing me to blush, realizing he heard everything his mum said. I rushed past him and back to my room. I flopped down on the bed as I allowed it to sink in. Aaron's mum was giving me a go ahead to date her son. WOW.. this has got to be one of the most surreal thing I've heard in my life. My phone rang and I picked as I saw the caller.

"Hey Lilly.. how are you?"

"Hey, I'm outside... about to come in." Oh my days... I had to go downstairs again. I heard the doorbell ring making me leave the room again. I grinned at Lilly as she waved at me.

"Good morning Mrs. Angela" she greeted.

"Good morning sweetie... you're having breakfast with us right?" She nodded her head and Mrs. Angela smiled and went back into the kitchen. I saw that Aaron had gone back to his room...thank goodness. I hugged my best friend as we sat down in the living room.

"So how do you find Aaron?" She asked causing me to blush and making her smirk.

"What way am I supposed to find him except from being cool?" I asked her.

"Hot! Attractive, se-"I covered her mouth with my hand and playfully glared at her.

"You do know your boyfriend is also in this house?" I told her but she just shrugged.

"Yeah yeah... well I spoke to Jason yesterday and he told me his cousin is leaving in three weeks so we are going back home in three weeks."

"See? There's nothing that can happen between us! I mean its just three weeks and you see, there are really pretty Californian girls-"

"You know I hate when you do this right? Compare yourself to other girls... it really pisses me off." Okay she was pissed...

"Okay I'll stop.. I'm sorry."

"Good.. have you seen Jace th-" she stopped as she looked behind me. I followed her eyed direction and it was Jason and Aaron coming downstairs together.

"Hey babe." Jason said and kissed his girlfriend. I was shocked at what just happened. His aunty was literally in the kitchen. I looked at Mrs. Angela and she was smiling at them as they continued being cute. Okay.. it was official, Mrs. Angela was really cool and a romantic. I shook my head and my eyes met with a certain guy. Aaron. He was smiling at me and I didn't know why but I smiled back, my heart beating really fast without a reason.

"Hey, why don't we all go out?" Lilly said and I shook my head.

"Nope.. you need to have a date with Jason."

"Well.. I'm still having the date... its just a double date." My eyes shot up at this and I threw her a look and she shrugged, smirking. This girl!

"A date? maybe we could just peg it as being the third and fourth wheels on their date?" Aaron offered and I rolled my eyes at that. I can't believe this was happening.

"Whatever... I'm getting free food from Aaron so why not?" I heard him laugh beside me making me smile a little.

"That was never a problem." And so after breakfast, we were off to the beach.. yes, the beach. Lilliana forced a body hugging swim suit on me but in put on a long floral sundress because I wouldn't remove it in any time soon.

"Yo, I want to be alone with my Lils so we're gonna leave so Aaron please make sure she goes home safe.. thanks man. Lils, lets go. "And that just happened after two hours of surfing, playing games and just having fun.

"Well... looks like they had been wanting to get rid of us but didn't know how to say it." I said as I clapped my hands awkwardly making Aaron chuckle.

"So you're done with high school right and entering college this year right?" He asked and I nodded my head.

"Yeah... I'm going off to college this year."

"What do you have in mind?"

"Brooklyn College" he nodded his head.

"That's a good one?" and there was silence.

"So Cadence Brown, what makes you interesting? Blow my mind."

"Well, I enjoy reading, writing and dancing even though I suck at it, I just still do it." I said throwing him a sheepish smile and he shook his head.

"What about you Aaron? What makes you interesting?"

"Well, just looking at me alone makes me interesting." he said as he winked at me and I just rolled my eyes, trying to cover up the redness of my cheeks.

"Oh please, you can do better."

"Okay... well I like to write and I like reading." I stopped walking as he finished talking. He finally realized I wasn't beside him anymore.

"Whatsup? Why'd you stop walking?"

"You like writing and reading?" He nodded his head.

"Is that supposed to be a bad thing?"

"Well no.. I'm just surprised that someone like you likes to read novels and write stuff." I said as I shrugged and went to where he was.

"I bet this proves me being interesting right?" He said with a smirk and I rolled my eyes.

"Oh whatever.." and so we talked about random things until we both made the conversation awkward.

"Do you have a boy-"

"Do you have a girl-" he shook his head and told me to go on.

"Do you have a girlfriend?" He shook his head.

"Nah... I don't have one or never had." I immediately looked at him.

"You're joking" he shrugged.

"I'm not.. I haven't dated any girls." So he was a player then.

"So you're the number one player?"

"No... I don't mean it that way.. I haven't just seen someone I really like. I've liked girls before but I never made a move on any of them." He explained. Okay, this was surprising. Someone like him not having a girlfriend... wow.

"Do you have a boyfriend?"

"Nope... I do not have one or never had." and he smiled.

"That's good." I looked at him.

"Why is it good?" He turned to look at me, had on a neutral face.

"Because I want to be your first boyfriend." My heart dropped at that.

"Wh-what? We just met yesterday.. I mea-"

"I know that but this might sound like a lie but when I saw you yesterday, I felt something and I think you felt it too." He was right. I did feel something when I saw him yesterday.

"But I don't understand... me of all people, I don't think you would like me. I'm seventeen and you're twenty-one.. still a minor you know." I said.. I was too scared for my heart. I'm not up to his taste so I don't think there's any need to try.

"Well you're the one I see having something with. I'm okay with us going slowly." I didn't even know what I wanted and I was shocked that a fat girl like me could attract someone's attention.

"But I'm fat and I'm not as pretty as those Washi_" he put one finger on my lips.

"Never ever call yourself fat. Ever again. You're one of the most beautiful girls I have ever met in my entire existence and I'm not kidding.. you're beautiful both inside and out." I stared at him, speechless. I bet my face was as red as a tomato. He really ma- No Cadence... you could get your heart broken.

"Uhhh... I'll think about it." I told him even though it was a lie making him smile and that's how we ended the night.

The week flew by and also the second week. Aaron and I had been hanging out nonstop and I couldn't even stop thinking about him. Every single time, he was always on my mind and we even came to the pint here he started holding my hand... According to him, it was' just so I wouldn't get lost'. Yes, that was his excuse. I blushed at how our hands fit perfectly together. I didn't really want to let go of his hand. I looked one more time in the mirror and sighed out.. 'I hope I don't look fat' . Today was Friday and we were officially going on a double date but to me, Aaron and I were still the third and fourth wheel. I came out of the room.. which was also when Jason was coming out of his room. He didn't even spare me a glance and started leaving.

"Jason" I called out. He turned back and looked at me.

"Yeah?"

"Is everything cool between us? Did I do something wrong?" I asked. It looked like he was about to say something but he held himself back, shook his head and went downstairs and I just stood in the hallway. I was worried he was pissed at me because it seemed like I ruined their getaway due to me coming on the trip and I felt really bad about it. I had to speak to Lilly about this. I heard Aaron's door open and my breath hitched at the sight of him... He was looking and handsome. We stood, drinking in the sight of each other which felt like forever before he broke the silence.

"Wow... wow.. Cadence" The way he says my name always made my heart skip a beat but it was comforting.

"You clean up really nice Aaron." I said and smiled at him.

"Cadence you look gorgeous... I can't even find the right words to express how you look in my eyes." I blushed at that and became self conscious. Lilliana had forced me into this dress. She literally bought me the dress and heels.. she said she would be so happy if I wore this dress for her and well, if I had to go out of my comfort zone for my best friend who has always been there for me, then of course I would and I sadly agreed to wear it. It was a one hand body hugging red dress and silver heels. I just curled my hair and put on some little make up... I felt really naked.

"Thank you.. come on, let's go pick up Lilly." I really needed us to leave and meet up with Jason because staying with him.. alone, now I didn't know if I could keep my emotions in check.

"Oh Cadence." Mrs. Angela said as she looked at me, smiling.

"You look so beautiful dear.. why do you hide this exquisite body of yours?" She says with shock and I start feeling self conscious.

"She's probably just comfortable in her normal clothes." Aaron said and I was thankful I didn't have to say anything.

"We'll get going now aunty.. see you later" and we were off to pick up Lilly.

"Cade... you look really beautiful." Okay, that's it.

"Please could everyone stop with the compliments?" I said as my face was turning to a tomato. We reached the restaurant and I was amazed. It looked really classy and expensive. The waitress directed us to our table. I sat down with Aaron facing Lilly and Jason. We ate and talked about stuff.. I was really having fun.

"Hey Lils, I wanted us to go to the beach together" Jason said and smiled at Lilly.

"Like this? Crazy now are we? Well, I have no objection. Come on Cade, let's go get crazy." I looked at Jason and I could see the anger evident.

"Really? After a whole week of spending time with her, you still want to spend time the second week? We just have a week left and I haven't even spent time with my girlfriend alone!" After he's done, he stood up and walked out making Aaron follow him behind. I looked at Lilly and I could see the shock on her face. I took her hand and went to the bathroom. I allowed some seconds to pass before I spoke.

"Lilly... are you okay?" she shook her head and I sighed out.

"I thought he was okay with you coming along.. I didn't know he was pissed."

"He might have been okay at first but I guess it got out of hand."

"But he knows you're my best friend so why is he so angry about it?"

"Because you haven't spent time with him alone ever since we came here. Every single time, you invite both Aaron and I and he didn't want to make it seem like he wanted to steal you from your best friend and just went on with it just so he could make you happy."

"I didn't know I had hurt him this much and we hadn't spent time alone... maybe that's why I'd been feeling down." She said and I took her hand.

"Go get your boyfriend back Lilly.. I can see he really likes you and I know the feeling is mutual so take your ass out there and go and look for Jace and apologize." She nodded her head and was about to open the door when she turned back.

"But what about you Cade? Will you be okay being alone?"

"Lilliana, please don't stop your happiness or plans because of me. I'm not worth it okay? If I see your boyfriend is happy and contented, we could hang out. I don't want to be a problem in your relationship." She frowned at that.

"You can never be a problem in our relationship Cade. You're like the sister I never had and I never want to lose you that's why I always try to make you happy."

"And you have Lilly. A lot. Trust me... You've made me smile a lot and I'm thankful for that. During this two weeks of not letting me stay back anytime you wanted to go out, you proved just how much you didn't want to see me sad and I am so grateful for that but Lilly, I need you to also be happy and Jason makes you happy... more than I actually could. I know we've been best friends for a long time but you need Jason and he needs you too so I'm fine on my own and I'm actually not lonely.. Aaron is here.. remember? So Lilliana Price, go and get the love of your life back because I know you love him and I don't want you to lose him and you also don't want that too so go!" She smiled and hugged me.

"Thank you for being my best friend Cade.. I love you."

"Thank you for also being my best friend Lilly and I also love you." She smiled one more time before leaving the bathroom to go look for the love of her life. I sighed out contentedly. Now, if I could just fi- oh there he is! He was sitting at our table, looking awkward making me laugh a little.

"You look so lonely from behind." I said and he chuckled.

"Well you see I was waiting for a date of mine to leave the bathroom.. I kind of started getting jealous of the bathroom you know.. I mean, it has more attention that I could ever get." He said and wiped a fake tear whereby I just laughed.

"Well that wasn't nice of your date." I said with a stern face, playing along and he shook his head, smiling and stared at me.

"You look beautiful Cadence.. not just today but every other day" He said and I could hear the sincerity in his voice causing my tummy to go on a roller coaster ride.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." The night had to come to an end and so I was off to bed, thinking of how I secretly wished something might have happened.

This was the third week already which was the week Aaron was leaving... I felt really bummed out this week and didn't want to go anywhere but I still hung out with Aaron because I really wanted to spend a lot of time with him. I didn't want to agree with myself that I liked Aaron because I was too scared and felt insecure.. it was good to have a summer love from afar. Yes, you saw it right. Love... I didn't know what I felt for Aaron but it was stronger than a normal feeling of just liking someone.. Aaron made me feel beautiful and maybe just because of him, I had started wearing some things I thought I would never wear in my life. Today was our last outing together before Aaron leaves for Washington the next day which was a Saturday.

"Hey.. you ready to go?" Aaron said from the door and I nodded. We left to meet up with Lilly and Jason at the fair.

"Hey girl" Lilly said and smiled and I hugged her.

"Hello friend of mine." and we both laughed.

"Hey Cadence." Jason said and I waved.

"Hello Jason." I smiled at him and he did the same. After what happened last week and Lilly explaining and apologizing to him, he also came to apologize to me and we became cool even though I wasn't expecting an apology because I understood why he was pissed cause I mean even Aaron would be- wait, what am I saying? I shook my head to get rid of my stupid thoughts.

"Come on, lets go have fun." We played a lot of games and ate sugary goodnesses. I was having a lot of fun. We didn't know when Lilly and Jason left us making just the two of us alone.. Nice.

"Hey.. do you want us to play that game?" Aaron said as he pointed at the rings in the pole game.

"Sure." and so after he won me two teddy bears which I was so very happy about, we left there and was just roaming around the fair when Aaron stopped walking.

"Is everything okay?" I asked.

"I love you Cadence." I dropped the teddy bears as he said that but he picked them up immediately.

"What?" He smiled at me.

"I love you Cadence... I know this might seem too soon but its the truth. I've loved you ever since the first time I saw you and I want you to be my girlfriend and hopefully in the future, something more." What in the world was going on.

"Say something... you're making me more nervous." He said and let out a little laugh. I was speechless. No one had ever told me they loved me except my mother and Lilly. Hearing this from a guy was so foreign. I felt different type of emotions right now. I didn't even know what I wanted. I so badly wanted to tell him I loved him too because I felt that way too but I was too scared and insecure. I didn't know what to say.. maybe I should just take a risk.

"Aaron I-" I see Lilly run off, leaving a confused Jason standing. So, I was kind of right.. he was going to break her heart. I left Aaron standing there as I walked up to Jason.

"You ass hole!" I yelled and punched him and damn, that hurt really bad. I heard gasps all around me but I didn't care. I was about to leave when Aaron held my hand.

"Whats'up Cadence? Why'd you do that?" Aaron said and I yanked my hand away.

"You're all just the same! Breaking our hearts every single time. I don't ever want to see you again. I bet if we started dating, you'll probably go back to Washington and see another girl that is better than me because that is how you all are. You better not come near my friend again Jason.. I'm warning you!" I spared a glance at Aaron and I could see the anger and hurt clearly on his face but I was too sad and angry. Thank goodness I stopped myself from making a big mistake. I took a cab to Lilly's house so I could console her. I went up to her room as fast as I could and knocked on the door. She immediately opened the door, closed it and slapped me. I was shocked.

"Lilly, why did you do that?" I asked as tears gathered in my eyes.

"Why did you do what you did at the fair?!" She yelled.

"I thought I was standing up for my best friend. I saw you running out and it looked like Jason had just broken up with you maybe cause he found another girl." I explained and her eyes softened then she hugged me briefly.

"My best friend... you really do have my back that you even went as far as punching him?" she smiled at me and I looked at her.

"Why are you still talking to him? Didn't he break up with you? Isn't that why you ran out of the fair?"

"No Cadence.. we never broke up."

"Then why did you leave, crying?"

"I can't tell you because its Jason's secret but we never broke up Cade. We are very much in love and not angry at each other." I stared at her, shocked. This didn't just happen.

"I indirectly called Aaron a man whore." I said out loud.

"I know.. why did you have to say all that to him? He didn't deserve it." I flopped on her bed as I thought of what I'd just done.

"I just felt really insecure and scared and I was really shocked when he told me he loved me."

"He said that?" She says, happiness shining brightly in her eyes. Happiness for me.. happiness I just ruined.

"I love him too Lilly" She hugged me immediately and that's where the tears finally came rushing.

"Cade you still have a chance to go-" I shook my head.

"I don't deserve him and he needs someone better than me. Someone who doesn't have insecurities and likes their body and isn't too scared to take risks. That person isn't me. Goodnight" I didn't leave room for any more talk as I laid down at one side of the bed and forced myself to go to sleep.

The next day I just stayed in Lilly's house, waiting for the day to already end as Aaron's flight was in the night. I didn't want to go there because I didn't even want to see his face. I had just missed my opportunity of loving and being loved all because of my insecurities. I felt really down and I didn't even want to do anything. Lilly had brought me breakfast but I refused to eat.. the one guy that had made me believe in love again and made me fall in love with him, I had just lost him like this.. all because I was insecure. Gosh, I hated myself.

"Okay! I can't do this anymore. Cade, get your butt up from my bed!" She said and pushed me off.

"What do you want Lilliana." I said. She looked at me a little bit shocked. I rarely called her by her full name.

"I need you to go and get your summer love back.."

"And I have told you that it isn't possible in any way"

"Cadence Brown, go and get the love of your life! What you did yesterday really hurt him... trust me, I know but that doesn't mean his love for you is gone. Take this risi and go and apologize to him... if her truly loves you Cade, he will listen. Go and get your first love..." She was right... I had to at least try to get him back.. I hugged her briefly and was out of her house. I hailed a cab and we were off to my house. I came out of the cab and saw Jason outside. When he saw me, he shifted back a little.

"Stay away from me!" I cringed.

"Sorry Jason.. I'll apologise properly later. Where is Aaron?" I asked.

"What you did to him yesterday really hurt him a lot. He loves you Cadence."

"I know that which is why I am looking for him!"

"You do know he's at the airport already almost about to board the plane. " Shoot... he was to leave for Washington today and I forgot.

I reached the airport as soon as I could and looked around frantically... No no no.

I couldn't have missed him. I held my hand in my face as I realized how stupid I had been.

"Cadence?" I turned to look at the person who called me and it was my first love, Aaron. I immediately hugged him but he didn't hug back.

"I am so so sorry Aaron... I didn't mean anything yesterday. I just felt so insecure and sca-" I was cut off as his lips came on mine making my knees go Jelly-O. We stopped and came out of air, panting.

"I'm sorry Aaron. I love you but I was roo scared to admit it but I'm not anymore." He kissed me again which I did too and hugged. They called his flight for departure making my heart drop. I had just reunited with him yet he was leaving so soon.

"I'm scared Aaron.. what if you me-"

"It won't happen. If its not you, I'm not going to love anyone except you forever and ever."

"I believe you." I said and he smiled at me.

"I wouldn't want it any other way." He kissed my forehead and looked at me one more time.

"I love you so much Cadneve Brown."

"I love you too Aaron Hunters." And that is the end of my love story hypothetically and the beginning of my future with him. My summer love.
