Chapter 4

Abu had always had a hard life living with her family. Her parents always ignored her and behave coldly towards her.

Her siblings were always scornful towards her, they spoke to her in a rude manner and whenever she became mad with them her parents will slander her in front of them.

She always locked her door and wept, she always had a silent sob which was extremely bitter. Her plight was made worse by the fact that she was very reluctant to confide in any one. She bore her sorrows alone. She was her own comforter. The more Abu thought about how her parents entreat her, the more depressed she grew.

Since her divorce she did the entire work at home, the work wasn't bothering her rather her parents foul temper and her siblings rude behavior weaken her limbs.

The only relief she had was when she go to school. She's a final year student at Bayero University.

She sometimes felt like not returning home whenever she left for school.

Some days she had no class but she had to go to school just to find some comfort.

One day Abu's kid visited to stay for two days.

Umma was busy shouting at Abu because she do not finish cooking on time.

Ummi, her daughter came out from Umma's (her grandmother) room carrying their bag.

"A'a Ummina where are you going?" Umma asked. Ummi looked at Umma coldly and said: "I wll never sleep in your room again!" the girl said on the verge of crying.

  "Haba Ummina why?" Umma asked.

Ummi pursed her lips in a childish way. "Because you hate our mom and we hate you too. You always shout at her in everything she does."

Since that day when ever the kids visited, Umma would behave nice towards Abu although she always stared at her coldly.

Whenever Ummi and Amira visited they never speak to any one. Whatever umma would say to them Ummi will tell Amira not to respond because their grandmother hate their mom.

Zainaba was sitting while reading her handout. Today is their last exam in undergraduate. From time to time she would stop reading and watch some student celebrating. As far back as she could remember she had always wanted to see this day_ when she will write her final paper but she felt bad  today, she felt like going back to level one.

After exams all her friends were happy, busy snapping pictures but she found her self crying she knew that school was far better than their home.

As she was still sitting watching her mate she heard his voice which will forever remain in her mind saying:

"What are you watching? Why not you join them?" She raised her head and looked at him.

It was Usman her ex husband she find her self smiling back at him.

"Congratulations dear, wishing you best of luck in your results." He prayed

"Thanks Abban Ummi."

Usman scratched his head. "Let us go to my car Ummi and Amira are waiting, we should atleast have one picture together on this important day."

As they are walking, Usman said: I'm sorry for everything wallahi I regret from day one."

Zainaba smiled. "No, Usman don't regret please. Just remember the beautiful moment we shared together and move on kaji. (Okay)?"

"How Zainaba? How will I do that?" He asked peering at her.

She shrugged. "Well I don't know but one thing I want to tell you is_ I will never regret two things about our relationship."

"One I always ask my self will I regret knowing you but the answer is always no there are some beautiful moment we share together that will never be a reget to me, we also have something, a precious gift together which is our kids.

The second thing is I will never regret asking for a divorce. Please Abban Ummi just move on life is always about next step." She looked into his eyes.

"Let's wish each other well. Life goes on."

Usman just smiled before he told her what Umma said about him marrying Sa'ada.

Zainaba guffawed. "Don't worry I will speak to her and please Usman never treat her as you treated me." She besought. He dod not say a word but continued moving to the location of the car.

They snapped pictures together before Usman left with the children.

After her graduation ceremony which was splendid and mindblowing, she went Hajiya's house.

Hajiya was so much happy to see her.

Zainaba told her that she wanted to asked her to let Usman marry Sa'ada as she thought, she was the best one who could raise the kids just like her own.

Hajiya seemed to oppose it but at the end Zainaba ended up convincing her.

   *********

Hajiya told Usman he can marry Sa'ada he wasn't happy though he wanted to marry her not because he loves her. He only left the reason to himself.

Everything was done about their marriage.

Sa'ada invited almost all the people in their area but not her best friend Zainaba.

Back then they planned this day together, how they will celebrate and how happy they will be.

Zainaba went to sa'ada to congratulate her.

Sa'ada was sitting with her friends when Abu entered.

She all knew them. Sadiya said let's leave them together.

Zainaba stopped her. "No, you don't have to do that. I just came to congratulate her as her old friend.

"Please guys let's leave them together." Salma mentioned.

"I'm sure you are not here to congratulate me there must be a another reason. Sa'ada mentioned  after her friends left to escuse them.

"That's the only reason but after hearing that from you, I think I have another thing to say." Zainaba said.

"Please Sa'ada my kids, raise them as yours no matter what happens. After Hajiya and my parents, you are the only one I can trust with them."

Sa'ada smiled before saying: what a coincidence!, you said what is my mind.

You having everything, you being love by so many people, you having a perfect man made me shabby although I love you but in the other hand I envy you, I also despise you so I wanted to put a blemish or atleast scratch on you.

I can't do that without making everything that belongs to you mind.

I will make sure that your kids belongs to me, I will be nice to them to make sure they love me more or even forget having another mum other than me." Sa'ada said, revealing her teeth.

"Any way congratulations and welcome to the hell!" Zainaba said plodding along the door.

"I'm telling you I mean my words!" Sa'ada shouted. Zainaba did not turn nor did she replied.

Her friends came out, all ready to gossip. "What did she say to make you shout like this?"

"She just rambled." Sa'ada replied, knitting plans...
