Meeting The Boss

There are so many types of weapons and magical items in this room, all neatly displayed in glass showcases. There are swords, spears, shields, magic staffs, and several other weapons, each category organized uniformly.

Some weapons with attractive appearances and relatively high quality are intentionally placed in the front showcases to attract buyers. It's just a simple trick in business.

Upon entering this place, we were free to browse everything available. I didn't forget to activate my identification ability to assess some of the weapons in the showcases.

On average, almost all the weapons I saw, like the swords in the showcases, were made of iron, and there were a few made of mithril, although not many. The highest rank of all the weapons I saw here was Rank B. There might be stronger weapons not displayed here, but the ones showcased seemed worthy enough to pique customers' interest.

"Ah... it's so expensive," Livi muttered when she saw a sword in the showcase. It was a white mithril sword, around seventy centimeters long.

Livi slumped and looked disappointed when she saw the price tag of that sword. She made an expression like a child who failed to get a toy. Moreover, why was she the one displaying such an expression when she was the one who brought me here? Shouldn't she have known that weapons here would be expensive?

As I looked closer at the price tag of the sword, it was being sold for two thousand crypto coins. With that price, I might still be able to buy it, both as compensation and an apology for her broken sword from yesterday, plus the Crinum flowers she had collected but couldn't use because of me.

"Do you want it?"

"Yes, I want it, but it's too expensive for me."

"I'll pay for it for you, as my apology for your broken sword yesterday."

I called a waiter to retrieve the sword from the showcase. Unlike the previous attendant, this time a young male waiter with black pants and a white shirt came. He opened the cabinet and handed me the sword.

"W-wait, Vans, I don't want it," Livi replied, gesturing to decline.

"But didn't you say you wanted it?"

Why did she suddenly change her mind? In my opinion, it's a good sword, made of magical mithril material, strong, and can be infused with magical energy.

"It's not like that. I do want it, but I want to buy it with my own money, not have you buy it for me. And as for my broken sword and damaged flowers, you don't need to worry about it anymore. The money you gave me yesterday was more than enough as compensation," she now refused adamantly, speaking in a raised tone.

"Alright then, I won't force you," I responded.

"Yeah... that's better. Besides, replacing an iron sword with a mithril sword can no longer be called a replacement. It's excessive. Moreover, how will my parents react when their child suddenly comes home with an expensive Mithril sword? They'll surely suspect me of stealing, and the people in the guild will also be suspicious. How can a Rank-F Adventurer like me, who is poor, suddenly afford an expensive Mithril sword? It's not a favorable situation for me."

Everything Livi said made sense, and I couldn't deny it anymore.

"I'll buy it for myself then," I said.

"Yes, that's better. I can buy it myself if it's just an iron sword," Livi replied with a long sigh.

In the end, I bought two magical Mithril swords and one katana, while Livi still refused to let me buy her a sword.

Actually, I didn't really need to buy another weapon because the ones I already had were more powerful than the ones I purchased. I bought them simply because I wanted to. I bought the Mithril sword because it was the first time I had seen one in person. The mithril swords I knew from my previous life were only fictional metals in stories and games. I didn't want to miss this opportunity to experience firsthand what it felt like to wield a sword made of real mithril.

As for the katana, I had seen and used it before. Katana swords were not unfamiliar on Earth, and they were not a rare type of sword either. I bought it because I also wanted to try it with my one-handed swordsmanship skills.

I purchased a pair of Mithril swords and one Katana as backups and replacements for the two swords I already had.

*Swish!

I tried swinging the katana with my right hand. It felt incredibly light as I swung it, and the handle fits comfortably in my grip. As for its overall color, including the handle, blade, and scabbard, they were all a deep black, as if emanating a strong dark aura. As for its size, it was around ninety centimeters, surpassing the average length of a katana. On average, katanas were only about sixty to seventy centimeters long, but that didn't matter. I actually preferred that longer length.

For my weapon needs, I had finished. The next step was fulfilling my magical requirements. I needed all the information about magic and how it worked in this world.

"Do you also have books about magic here?" I asked the male attendant who had been accompanying me since earlier.

"Yes, we have many books about magic in this store. Please follow me," he replied.

I walked following the attendant, apparently, the books related to magic information were in a different room.

I have magical abilities, but I have no idea how to use them. Since I first arrived in this world, I have only relied on my swordsmanship skills.

At the very least, I want to learn magic that can cleanse the body. I felt traumatized after yesterday's battle with the wolves. The blood and dirt clinging to my body felt disgusting and troublesome. It would be very helpful if I could use purification magic for my body.

We finally arrived in a room mostly filled with books, and in some corners of the room, there were several shelves containing numerous magical crystals of various colors.

"What type of magic book are you looking for?" the attendant asked me.

"Please give me a basic book on the study of magic and books on magic from all the elements available."

"Alright, I will immediately find books that match your request. Please wait a moment," the attendant replied and then left me.

I didn't know how many elements I was compatible with or which elements specifically. In my status, it only mentioned that I had the ability to manipulate magical elements. What was certain was that I needed a lot of information about magic right now.

"Hey Vans, can you also use elemental magic? Weren't you just a sword user? Why did you buy books on magic, especially books on all the different elements? Isn't that just a waste and extravagance?" Livi asked me with a curious expression.

"Well, there's no specific reason. I just wanted to buy them," I replied.

"What's with that answer? It doesn't make sense at all."

For now, I didn't want to tell Livi the reasons why I bought multiple books on magic with various elements and about some of the skills I possessed.

After a while, the books I ordered finally arrived. There were ten books brought to me, including a basic book on magic and books on various magical attributes.

"These are the books you requested. Please check them," the attendant said, handing over the books to me.

"Yes, thank you," I replied as I received the books.

After that, I ordered other items that I needed. I ordered a map, a geography book, and a history book.

I needed the map to know all the locations related to this world, and having information about its history was also crucial for me. Although I already had some information from Vans' memories, I still needed a lot of additional information.

I have obtained some of the things I need, now there's just one last thing I need, an important thing that I almost forgot—I need a sheath for my two swords.

"Do you also provide sword sheaths here?" I asked the attendant.

I was a bit hesitant to ask because usually the sword and its sheath are sold as a set. It would be rare for a store to sell just the sheath.

"May I know the shape and size of the swords? We need to know the specifications to recommend a suitable sheath," the attendant responded.

I took out my sword from its storage, only one of my swords, my white sword, Althea. As usual, just like Livi's expression, the attendant was also surprised when I pulled out the sword from my dimensional storage. It seemed to be a rare occurrence in this world for someone to use dimensional storage magic.

"This s-sword... wait a moment, please wait here. I'll be back shortly," the attendant stammered after closely examining the sword I had. They made a complicated expression after looking at my sword and hastily left without giving a clear reason.

"What's up with that attendant?" Livi asked, also puzzled by the attendant's behavior.

"I don't know either," I replied.

Perhaps they could also use appraisal skills and were surprised after seeing the statistics of my sword, or maybe they could assess the quality of a sword just by looking at it. I wasn't sure of the exact reason, as I hadn't seen the attendant's abilities before.

After a while, the attendant finally returned, panting and with a sweaty face.

"Um... I apologize. Can I have a moment of your time? It seems the boss wants to meet with you," he said.

Livi and I exchanged questioning glances.

Why did everything end up like this? In the end, I have no choice but to accept the attendant's request, and I was led to the boss's room.
