BRIDGE was about to eat when her mom called. It’s hard to find a signal in their area. For sure her mom went out just to call her.

“How are you and Dad? Is everything okay there? It’s already late. Why you’re still outside?”

“We’re perfectly good, Bridgette. It’s your nephew’s birthday. Have you forgotten? I’ll be staying at your sister’s house so don’t worry.”

“Tell Kevin a happy birthday for me, Mom. How about Dad? Is he there with you?”

“Your dad’s at home, he doesn’t want to leave his animals alone. Aren’t they sweet? Anyways, it’s your dad’s birthday next week. Don’t you have a plan to come home?”

“About dad’s birthday, I still have to ask my boss if I can take leave on that day.”

“How about Shan? Maybe he can come with you. It’s been a while since the last time he came here. Is he not there with you? I miss talking with him.”

Her parents have been so supportive of their relationship ever since. Shan is close with them too. But after Shan started his revenge, he hasn’t come home with her to their province even during Christmas and new year.

“We’re not living in the same apartment but don’t worry, I’ll tell him you called.”

“Is everything okay between you two?”

They decided not to tell her parents about their situation and only told them that they have to live in Cebu for work. And even now, they’re still not aware that she got into an accident a year ago and have undergone rehabilitation for two months. She didn’t tell them too that Shan is her boss so they won't ask things and she won't have to lie. For sure they’ll force her to go home and leave Shan if they find out everything she’s gone through because of her love for Shan.

“We’re fine, Mom. We just had to live separately so it won't be hard to commute.”

It’s not a complete lie though. It’s not like they broke up. They just can’t live in the same house.

“See you soon, Bridgette.”

“I’ll try, Mom. I love you and Dad.”

She honestly missed her parents so much especially at times that she’s alone. But then, she can’t just decide to go home. She hopes her dad won't hold a grudge on her if she can’t go home on his birthday. Next week will be the most crucial week for Shan and she can’t just leave at the time he needs her most.

He looked at the table with the food she prepared for dinner. She cooked for two since Shan informed her he would come over. She excitedly looked at her phone when she received a message from Shan. She lost her appetite to eat after reading his message. Like usual, he broke his promise again.

SHAN is at the house his dad gave him as a gift for his marriage where Belle stays too. He only goes home if needed but usually stays at the room inside his office especially these days that he’s so busy with work. He thinks it has been a month since the last time he came to that house.

He had to come home after his dad informed him that he’ll come for dinner together with his parents-in-law. His dad just left that’s why it took him that late to call Bridge. He promised to be there at seven but it’s already ten in the evening. He’s been calling Bridge but she’s not answering. For sure she’s mad with him for breaking another promise.

“Where are you going? It’s already late,” Belle said when she saw him walking towards the main door. “Can’t you just wait for tomorrow to meet your mistress? Are you still not satisfied being with her the whole time? Is it really hard for you to spend this night with me? Don’t you really have respect for my parents? ”

Belle’s parents are in the guest room. They’ll be staying for the night since their house is nearer to the airport and they had an early flight tomorrow morning.

“I’ll be right back.”

Belle tried to stop him but he still pursues his plan and went to the house he bought for him and Bridgette. It’s the first thing he bought with the money he has saved since he started working for the company. Though he wants to live with her, it’s still impossible for now and Bridge understands that.

He felt relieved when Bridge agreed to hire a driver and a maid since he’s worried that Bridge mostly stays there alone. She hired Mang Sammy as her driver slash bodyguard. He’s in his forties but still nimble and strong. His job is to make sure he fetch and send Bridge home safely and he’s paying him generously in exchange for his loyalty. He only introduced him as a driver because he knows Bridge won't accept him if she finds out he got her a bodyguard. While his wife, Beth serves as a maidservant.

He informed Sammy he’s coming that’s why the gate opens immediately when he arrived.

“She personally cooked for dinner but I don’t think she ate anything,” Beth said when she walked with him inside the mansion. “It seemed like she hasn’t touched the food in the table.”

He just nods in response but his heart was filled with worry and guilt. When he came into the master’s bedroom, he saw Bridgette lying on the floor with her phone beside her. He went to her side and immediately notice her flushed cheeks and nose. He promised to never make her cry but he failed once again. He carried Bridge carefully so he can’t wake her up. He placed her on the bed and covered her with the blanket before kissing her gently in the forehead.

“I love you so much.”

BRIDGETTE got confused about how she got to the bed when she remembered sleeping on the floor. When she turned to her right, she got surprised to see a bouquet of pink and white roses beside her. It only means Shan came last night. But why he didn’t wake her up? She sat on the bed and took the card.

-I know I’m really bad at fulfilling my promises and always end up making you upset. But if there’s a promise I’m sure I can never fail you, that is loving you forever-

Her heart felt so heavy when she slept but know, she felt so loved. Reading Shan’s message made her heart flutter.

She took his phone and sent Shan a message.
