Chapter Six

***fazil's P. O. V***

"Please stop hitting me!"

"you stupid woman, you will regret being my wife"

"I already regret it you know, you're such a beast"

I walked into afrah's house. I heard things been thrown around while coming in. I also heard screaming and shouting. I already knew it was afrah and her husband again.

"afrah!"I said screaming as I entered her house moving round their mansion trying to figure out exactly were the noise was coming from.

"madam is in the living room"maria, one of the maids said knowing who I was looking for. She looked worried.

"did they have a fight again?"I inquired  looking so worried

"yes sir"maria replied before walking away looking so scared like someone was going to kill her for telling me such things.

"afrah, are you alright"I asked running to where she was sitted all curled up. I sat next to her on the sofa pulling her closer to me so she could rest her head on my shoulder. My poor sis looked so pale.I could see how hurt she was but what hurt me more was that there was nothing I could do to help her.

"it's alright dear"I said calming her down with my hand gently as her  continuous tears stained my shirt.

I loved afrah so much even though we had separate fathers. Her father had raised me like I was his son since I didn't even know my father, even before mother gave birth to afrah. I and mother had wondered why father insisted afrah was going to get married to Khalid who Was her husband even when everyone in the community knew the type of person he was. But after my step father who was afrah's father died we later got to know that the bastard had requested for afrah has payment for my father's debt.

"you really have to leave this son of a b...h  Soon! I don't get it.what man will dear hit a lady! If I ever see him I will kill him"I spat angrily as afrah sat up well on the chair.

"please, don't say such things"afrah said and I wondered why this girl was so innocent, gentle and kind hearted.

"let's talk about you"afrah said wiping her face with the back of her hand. "how are you doing with mother"she asked sounding better than few minutes ago.she was always so good and changing topics.

"I am fine"I answered still looking so concerned about her. I didn't want to come here one day to find my sisters body lifeless on the floor.

"I heard aliyah is getting married"she suddenly said

"yes, she is"I answered knowing very well why she had talked about aliyah.

"don't tell me you have a plan, please fazil"she said more like pleading with me not to do anything stupid.

"it's safe I promise"I said grinning. Afrah knew about I and aliyah and what I actually feel for her.

" fazil, I know you don't give up on something so easily. if you would ask for my advice, I would tell you to do what's right and not just base everything on your emotion so you won't regret later but I will also tell you to fight for a love that's true because it hurts in the end when you don't fight for it"she said the last part as a tear slipped down her cheek.

"see my little sis, all grown up now"I said smiling to make the atmosphere less tensed.

"are you going for the wedding"i asked and she understood why I had asked.

"you know Khalid  and aliyah's father are colleague so I have no choice. You don't have to worry about me I have my mind prepared already that I would see him there"she said assuring me.

I looked around the house and there were so many people running up and down. From distant cousins to uncles and aunts. I entered my room for the first time since the beginning of the day to at least rest from all the noise and stress.

"ohh"i said collapsing on my bed and letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding . I and father had gone out earlier today to check out the house I and aliyah were going to be staying. I didn't know getting married was so much stress.

When mother and father had told me that I was going to be getting married to aliyah they all had expected me to scream and shout and do all sorts of things especially because she is blind but the opposite was what I did. No one knew I had already seen aliyah. A couple of times when her brother who volunteered in the masjid brought her along. I was always satisfied with admiring her from afar. I never knew I would be given the honour to marry her. I had not even seen her since the last time we met even though I already craved so much for her to be by my side.

"hey, ibrahim the people from the masjid are here"Aadil, my childhood friend said entering my room.

"you should have at least knocked. You just disturbed my day Dream"i said jokingly.

"you better stop day dreaming, it's just in a couple of days"Aadil said.

"aliyah, mom said I should ask what colour the tables should be. Blue or green"aisha asked has she entered my room.

"does it matter, why can't they choose they have always chosen everything for me even from the very start"

"aliyah, not again"she said and I heard her footsteps move closer towards me sitting beside me on the bed and putting her hand round my shoulder.

I won't even be seeing the wedding  so it won't hurt so much, sometimes I am glad I can't see a thing because  then I don't have to judge a book by it's cover and packaging is less important. And moreover the sin one can commit with the eye is so much and I don't think there is anything worth wanting to see.
