YOU HIT HER TOO HARD

"Katherine, your sleeping bag" Vicky remind the younger while pulling her own. Katy did what she's been told and hurriedly pulled her sleeping bag out of my apartment. "You sure you're okay now?" Vicky asks and I just nodded my head. I watch her went off my place at the same time. "Thanks for taking care of these two" Jennifer said to me and gave me a hug. Katy and Vicky were now heard bickering from their apartment. "No problem" I re-assured her as we bid goodbye with each other since the two WERE already getting loud.

"Finally! An alone time for myself", I muttered as I let my body pressed against my mattress.

Fast Forward: [Few hours past]

"Hmm. Aside from Rubys, Who else is new in this apartment complex?", I was in deep thoughts and busy analyzing the new set of tenants here. "Jackal & Louisito's room was upstairs, 3rd floor. Obviously, there are quite far from the murder scene which mean, both of them were out of the picture, FOR NOW" I whispered the last 2 words since I'm not really sure about that IF they are new or in between that and old. "This job will be easy if Coral-- I turned my attention towards the door and cut myself from talking. There's a shadow beneath my door. Who could this person be?

I quietly made my way towards the door and check the peephole. "Louisito?" I mumble a little confused. What is this dwarf doing in front of my apartment? Hmm. "Just for protection" I said as I removed my portrait off the wall and grab my folding knife. Once I heard the knock, I placed back the portrait accurately and hide the knife in my jacket's pocket.

KNOCK (2X)

He knocked again and I quickly turn on the television and lower down the volume just to make it look like I'm watching.

"Hi Rockey!" Louisito greeted me and handed me another bouquet of flowers. "Not from mine" He clarifies and smiled. "From Harrison, right?" I said a fact which he only shows me a thumb’s up. "So, what brings you here?" I questioned him and he fished out his phone out of a sudden. "I'm here because of this" He said and showed me the screen, a message from Jackal was shown onto it;

I'll treat you in the computer shop later but take care or keep an eye on Rockey today. She's sick and make sure she won't be stressed out.

Thanks dude!

"He's cheesy, right?" Louisito said in grimace before putting back his phone in his pocket and I agreed. I don't like cheesy person. I find them boring.

"So, where do I start?" he asks and really determine for the free access in the computer shop. I just shrug my shoulders and lead him inside my apartment. I was about to shut the door when a hand gripped on the side, tightly. "What is he doing there?" Vicky asks in a cold tone but I just flash a mischievous smile and lean closer to her ear. "I'll tell you later~" I whispered in a seductive tone and I didn't forget to make a direct eye contact with her before I removed her hand off the side and shut the door in front of her, gently.

"You decorated this entire room?" he asks me while still standing near the couch. "Yap, cuz this room looks so gloomy when I first saw it. I did a good job trying, right?" I proudly said but made sure to provoke him on commenting more. "Can I seat here?" he innocently asks and I just nodded my head on my way towards the kitchen. "Feel at home" I said but a little loud, for him to hear. "Jackal said you're sick. You want some help in there?" he offers and an evil smirk plastered on my face for a split seconds. I heard footsteps coming and by instant my smirk turned to a smile. "I'm getting better now-- but if you insist? Help me cut the pork" I said while washing the vegetables. "Yeah, sure" he obediently said and started cutting the pork into tiny cubes. Well, I don't really mind what kind of cut he wants to do with the pork but all I need from him is INFORMATION.

"Hey, Rockey?" he called my name and I just hummed in response since I already placed the frying pan on the stove. "Aren't you scared in this apartment?" he suddenly asks. Bingo! I tried my best to hide the smirk that were plastering on my face. I put the oil in the frying pan first before I faced him in a confused expression. "Why would I be scared though?" I ask him and faced the direction of the stove again. "Are you serious?" he asks me in shock but I intentionally ignored him and started cutting the vegetables. "Hmm, you didn't know what happened in here, don't you?" he said in a serious tone and check the frying pan. "Why? Did something happen in here?" I ask him innocently and looked like I'm nailing my acting, huh?

He didn't answer me yet but instead he offered me to fry the pork. "You should move apartment now before it gets late" he suddenly said which made my eyebrows furrow but when he was about to face my direction again, I acted confused. "Why? I can handle myself ya'know?" I said in a offended tone and he let out a sighed as he flips the pork on the other side. "A year ago, a murder took place in this apartment and the killer is still out there somewhere" he said and I secretly clench my fist under the table. I inhale deeply and closed my eyes to calm myself for a bit. "You okay?" he worriedly asks and I just nodded my head as I slowly opened my eyes. "A murder happened in here? Then why this room was still up for renting?" I questioned him and looked straight into his eyes. "For money" he shortly said before putting the vegetables on the pan as well.

"So that basically explains why this room looks so gloomy when I first stepped in. I understand now" I said and acting like I was in deep thoughts. "Hey, Rockey. Please be carefully okay? No one knows when the killer will strike again or who will be the next victim" he worriedly said and I can feel the sincerity in his words. I nodded my head and stood up from the chair. I set up the plates and utensils on the table. "Hey Louisito?" I said his name and he turned to look at me with a curious expression. "W-why is the murderer still on the loose?" I ask, acting like I'm getting scared. He turned off the stove and transferred the pork and veggies on the plate. "The investigation sunk in a year ago, no one know who is the killer", He said, sitting opposite direction of me. "None of the tenants from floor 2, speak about the murder. All of them were afraid to be the witness because the killer might do something to them as well" he added before stabbing the pork.

I was busy chewing the carrot when I recall the important thing I want to know. "Hmm, where are those tenants now? Are they still alive?" I ask in between worry and fear. He nodded his head and drink water. "Almost all of them already left and rent new apartments, also in fear of being drag to the murder case" He answered before eating again. I nodded my head and pretend I was in deep thoughts.

Fast Forward: [Few more hours passed]

After Louisito left, I started recalling the old faces I used to see walking in and out of the apartment before the murder took place. Most of them are close to my sister even the landlady herself but looks like she didn't even recognize me. That's weird? Hmm.

"I need to get the bottom of this" I click my tongue to the side as I pull out a medium size briefcase underneath my bed.

Everything I got inside this briefcase MIGHT help me on finding the killer. Once I unzipped the case, few items were neatly placed inside like the old photographs, newspapers and some favorite things of Alicia such as phone, her old books, spinner and her laptop. I kept these items after the investigators left in case I needed it someday.

"Now-- the password" I bit my bottom lip as I turn on the laptop and charge it at the same time. "Password incorrect" I rolled my eyes and just created a new user. Looks like I need to pay for some hacker out there to hack this laptop AND I should download some software too cuz the desktop look so empty. It can't entertain me with Microsoft Office and some childish game. "Useless-- for now" I rolled my eyes again and grab the phone. "Hmm. Scratches?", I look at the back of the phone, blankly; also confused on how the hell it got scratched inside my briefcase after a year of without opening it? Hmm. Magic?

Last time I checked it? It was spotless, no scratches or damages. "That's odd?" I tilted my head to the side as I put the phone beside the laptop. Though I was confuse, I proceeded on scanning the old photographs to check IF I can still remember few of Alicia's close friends. All of them used to be in this apartment complex as well but I was very introverted that time and I didn't allow myself to have MORE friends so I didn't know them by full names. I just know their nicknames. Coralita is the only friend I have BTW.

KNOCK (2X)

"Rockey!" I heard Katy and Vicky's voice behind the door. I immediately pack up the laptop and the phone. I zipped it securely and placed it back underneath my bed.

KNOCK (2X)

"ROCKEY?!" Katy raises her voice and once the briefcase is already out of sight. I messed up my hair in purpose and rub my eyes a little hard to make it look like I just woke up. I open the door a little and peeked my head on the doorway and see them holding some casseroles. "Jennifer cooked a lot. Here" Vicky smiled at me and Katy was expressing confusion on her face. "What happened to your hair?" She asks in suspicion but I just smiled at them. "You woke me up, dude" I said in sarcasm as I open the door, enough for them to peek inside my paradise. "N-nice boxer, girl" Vicky shyly said and hand me the casserole. "Thanks" I said in appreciation and Katy hand me the other casserole as she placed it on top of the first one. "I cooked that one just FOR YOU" Katy playfully said and gave Vicky an eye roll.

"Thanks a lot for these gi-- I pauses on my sentence when I heard something fell from the bathroom, "Rockey?" Vicky's voice brought me back to my trance and I flashed them another smile. "Thanks again and I'll bring the casseroles later after I devour everything" I wink at Katy and she just show me a thumb’s up. "Eat well and enjoy" both of them bid goodbye and I kick the door shut.I carefully placed the casseroles on the table and made my way towards the bathroom.

I switched on the light and saw nothing suspicious. It was just the shampoo bottle and the open window. "Open?" I suspiciously said while closing the small window to prevent the wind from knocking off my toiletries. I heaved out a sigh as I feel something weird. I've never open that window ever since I stepped in to this apartment again. "That's od-- I fell on the tired floor when I were about to go back to living room. I'm getting dizzy.

"Yah! You hit her too hard!" I heard a very familiar voice before my vision started to blur. "I was startled ya'know!" another voice said before I closed my eyes. I tried not to fall asleep but the dizziness already got the best of me.

"Startled my butt! Don't touch her! Now go, secure the area for our escape" the last words I heard before the dark finally consumes me.
