Chapter Three

Chandler's POV

We just finished the movie. The hole time Clayton kept looking over at me. I didn't know what to do with myself. I could feel my heart beat faster every time he did. I even blushed a few times when he did. Oh my gosh Chandler get a freaking grip.

"So I'm gonna order pizza Everyone want some." Roxi stood up and grabbed the phone. Everyone agreed so she called and ordered. I was still siting on the couch when he came over and took Roxi's spot.

"So why don't you tell me about yourself." He slung his arm over the back of the couch and face me a bit.

"Um Well what would you like to know." I asked a little nervous. Don't act nervous you idiot. He's just a guy. A very sexy guy.

"Well what's your favorite color?" Oh these questions. I can handle these.

"Blue. What about you. Wait I already know red." Ahh why did I just say that. He eyebrow raised.

"Um how did you know that?" He had a smile coming on his face and I could feel my heart beat faster.

"Um your car and your personality I guess." Oh I sound like an idiot.

"I understand the car point but, what about my personality?" He sat there narrowing his eyes at me. Good grief he looks hot when he does that.

"Well, from what I've seen a lot of people follow you. So your a leader naturally. Your confident and it shows on your face. That's why I know it's red. Anyone like that likes red." He eyebrows raised.

"Hmmm your very observant. Well what about your personality. How would I be able to know that you like blue?" Does he really want me to tell him about my personality.

"Um Well, I guess because I keep to myself. I don't talk to many people and I don't tell my secrets. Unless your really close to me." He smiled a little.

"Wow, I'm gonna have to be more observant from now on. So what kind of music do you like?"

"Well like George Strait and Chris Ledoux." He scrunched his face.

"Country. Come one I would have never thought you liked country. I mean your wearing a Rolling Stones T-Shirt."

"Well I like my Rock n Roll. But I'm from Utah. Of course I'm going to love country. And don't be hating on gorgeous George. He's my favorite." His smile grew wider.

"Gorgeous George. That's really funny. So what are you like a cowgirl or something."

"Yes, do you have a problem with that?" I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Oh no. I just don't see it."

"What don't you see?"

"Well yeah you have the pretty wavy blonde hair and the green eyes. You even have the attitude but, you dress nothing like one."

"Well obviously you haven't seen a real country girl." I folded my arms and leaned back.

"Well I guess I have now. So do you have the boots and everything." He smiled again.

"Haha yeah I have the boots and everything." I turned my body a little more to face him and I brought my legs to my chest.

"I've got to see this. Please tell me you don't wear a cowboy hat."

"No, I hate how a cowboy hat looks on me. I just wear baseball hats."

"Thank heavens. I just can't see you in one of those. It wouldn't be right." It's actually not that bad being around him.

"Ha why wouldn't it be right?"

"Covering up that gorgeous hair of yours." Ugh now he's trying to flirt with me.

"Well, thanks but, I cover my hair up a lot."

"Well you shouldn't cause your your hair brings out the blue color in your eyes. You wouldn't know it cause your eyes are green. But you have a hint of blue in them." He gave me loving look.

"Wow, really smooth. Your a lot better than I thought." He scrunched his eyebrows.

"What do you mean?"

"It's obvious that you don't have a problem getting girls because of your looks. But you have a way with words that seals the deal." He smiled at me.

"I have a way with words do I and you think I have good looks." Why did I say it like that.

"Don't let it go to your head. Like I said not a Chance buddy." He leaned forward a little.

"Why is there no chance of me and you."

"Cause I don't date guys like you."

"What do you mean guys like me and why?"

"Why don't you tell me how you view girls and I tell you why." He stared at me for a while. Obviously trying to put some thought into his answer. "Do you not have an answer. Cause that would probably be worse than having one.

"No I have one I just don't want it used against me."

"Ooo is it that bad."

"Well I have a different view then some guys. I believe everyone girl or woman has something special to share with the world. All are different. Some feel like they aren't as special as another one which isn't true. I know I've been seen with lots of girls and I've probably used them in a wrong way. But, I understand that each one of them has something to live for." hmm all except me.

"Not every girl has something to live for." With that I stood up from the couch. I hadn't noticed everyone moved to the kitchen. I felt a hand go a around my wrist and pull me back. I fell into his chest.

"You may think that way. But I believe you have something to live for. I'm gonna help you realize that." Before I could say anything he brought his lips to mine and threaded his hands in my hair. There were shocks as soon as our lips touched. It felt so good. I couldn't control my hands going into his hair and pulling him closer to me. We were there for a little when we heard someone clear there throat. I quickly shoved him back. I heard a growl come from Clayton. Did I just really hear him growl. Oh my gosh I can not believe I kissed him back. I've only known him for a day. How is this even possible. I turned to see Anthony with a little smile on his face.

"Well um sorry for interrupting." I looked between them both and ran. I went into the bathroom slammed the door shut and locked it. I can't believe that just happened. It can't let something like this happen. He doesn't even know. He would probably just leave if he did. Who would want to be with someone who won't be here in a year or two. A knock came at the door.

"Chandler please open the door." Just go I can't do this. I felt the tears starting to fall down my cheeks. Why am I crying. My mind is saying just leave it but, my heart says that I need him. I can't do that to someone. Get close to someone and then have to leave them. "Look I'm sorry Chandler. I shouldn't have done that. I don't know what came over me." Leaned my head against the door and I could tell he was doing the same thing. I heard him whisper "I love you." That's it I straightening this out. I opened the door and grabbed his hand and yanked him in. His eyes were wide.

"Alright that is the second time I have heard you say that you love me. There is no possible way you could know that. We just met today. What are you hiding from me." The fact that he's lying to me hurts. Like a pin in my heart.

"What are you hiding from me Chandler. Don't give me the crap of how you miss your friends. I know your keeping something from me. What is it?" He grabbed my arms and pushed me into the door. His hand started to move up my arm and it stopped when he reached my cheek. "Please tell me. I just want to know why your keeping yourself from me." His thumb came up and rubbed the tears from my cheek. It felt right to have him like this. But I'm not going to start something. I grabbed his and and moved it to his side.

"I can't Clayton. It's not right to do to the both of us. Please just stop." I pushed him away slightly and turned and went from the bathroom. I went into the kitchen and sat down. The pizza had came so I grabbed a piece and sat down.

"Are you feeling better?" Zack rubbed my back.

"Yeah I'm good now thanks." I looked up and Clayton came and sat down across from me. He looked so sad. I was the cause of that. Why did I let him kiss me. This is going to be so much harder.

"Hey Clay babe." A read head came prancing in. And sat on his lap. "I was wondering where you were. Anthony told me everyone was coming over here." She bent down and kissed him on the cheek. Don't touch him. Whoa I'm already getting jealous. I put my pizza down and put my head in my hands. "Who's the girl who looks like death warmed up." I looked up and she was looking at me.

"Shut up Tracy. Don't she have any manners. She doesn't feel good." Roxi shouted.

"Well why is she here then."

"I could ask you the same thing. No one invited you." I felt Zack start to rub my back again.

"Well Clayton wants me here. Don't you Clay babe." I looked up to see his answer.

"Sure, Tracy." Are you freaking kidding me. Ugh I don't want to feel this way anymore. I stood up and started to walk out.

"Chandler where are you going?" Zack asked me.

"I'm just gonna go home. Sorry Roxi, I just can't do it anymore."

"Don't go Chandler." All of them said in unison.

"Sorry guys." I turned and left the kitchen. I quickly grabbed my bag and went outside. The tears were falling down now. I knew it. He was just playing me. I can't believe I let that happen.

"Hey Chandler waite up." Who is that. I turned to see Luke. "Hey I sorry about Tracy. She can really be a jerk. Just ignore her. Just come back inside ok."

"Luke I'm not feeling good. I just want to go."

"Well why don't we just sit out here for a little bit. So you can get some fresh air. Then you can decide if you still want to go." He gave me a hopeful smile.

"Well I guess." I sat on the hood of my car. "Have a seat." He smiled and sat down.

"So how's your day been so far. I know it must be hard."

"Yeah I guess it went as good as it could have." He put his arm around me.

"Don't worry it will get better." He rubbed my arm and pulled me closer to him. "I hope my brother didn't upset you."

"Like I said Luke you don't have to worry about that."

"Yeah well I saw him talking to you. I just don't want you to get hurt." I looked up at him. He reminded me so much of my Luke. He is just as friendly to and easy to talk to. That's why we were such good friends.

"Thanks Luke. I'll be ok though."

"Hey um Chandler I was just wondering if... you would... I mean... if we could." Why is he all nervous.

"We could what Luke?"

"Would you go out with me?" Oh man. Not both brothers. I think I just need to tell him. So I don't have to.

"Look I just need to tell you something. I don't date. I used to have a boyfriend but, not anymore. There's a reason why I'm saying no Ok."

"Could you tell me why? I know your not telling me something." Yeah obviously everyone knows I'm keeping something from them.

"Luke, If I tell you, you can't tell anyone. Roxi is the only one who knows."

"Ok I promise. What is it?"

"Well, a few weeks ago I found out I have cancer." He stiffened a little. Yeah that's pretty much everyone's reaction.

"Well you can take medicine for it can't you?"

"No I can't. It's terminal Luke. I don't have a choice. We met the specialists here and they said the same thing."

"So what your saying is your not going to make it." I didn't look at him. I knew the sad, horrified look on his face.

"Yes, They say I probably only have a year or two left."

"Chandler why do you keep this to yourself? It can't be good for you."

"I don't want everyone to know. I don't want the pity that people give me when they find out. I don't want to get close to anyone so they're sad when I go. It will be hard enough on my family." The tears came again." He pulled me tighter into him.

"Hey Chandler. Can I take you back to my house. I want you to meet someone." Meet someone. Or does he just want to get me in his house. "It's my sister if your wondering. I really think you two would like each other."

"I didn't know you had a sister."

"Well there's a reason for that. Let's get in your car and we'll go ok. Let me just tell everyone ok."

"Um ok." He got up off the car and ran into the house. Why would he want me to meet his sister. I got off my car and opened the door. I got in as he was coming out. Clayton stood in the door way looking at my car. The door opened and Luke got in.

"Ok Let's go. Oh Roxi wants you to text her later." I nodded and pulled out. We went further down the road a couple of blocks and reached his house. Um no let me think of that again his mansion.

"Holy cow. Your house is huge." He started to laugh.

"Well we have a lot of family so my parents needed a bigger house." I nodded. It was pretty much a giant cabin. But it looked like one of those resorts in the wilderness. It's beautiful. I pulled in to the circle drive and got out.

"Alright follow me." We walked to the front door and he pushed it open. The door looked really heavy. Like how can you push a huge mahogany door open like that with little effort. We walked down a hallway which led to a winding stair case. We started up the stair and came into another hallway. It was kind of dim lighting. But it made the hole house look like it had a certain sparkle. We got to the end of the always and we reached a door at the end of the hallway. I could hear a faint beep noise coming through the door. "Hold on let me see if she is up." He opened the door and peeked in. "Hey Suzy. Is it ok if I bring a friend in here to talk with you."

"Yeah sure Luke." A little weak voice came out the door. He opened the door wide for me to walk in and I pointed me inward. There was a beautiful brown haired girl on a bed with tubes and wires going everywhere. My heart dropped. Why did he bring me here. Is he trying to scare me. Her beautiful blue eyes met mine and she smiled. "Who is this lukey?" She looked so sweet.

"Suzy this is my friend Chandler." Her smile grew wider.

"The Chandler I have been hearing about all day from Clayton." He nodded to her. "It's so nice to meet you. Come on over and have a seat." He's been talking about me to his sister. I went and sat on a chair that was on the side of the bed and Luke took the other one on the other side. "Clayton was right. Your very beautiful."

"Oh well not as beautiful as you are." She had a lite blush come to her cheeks

"So what are you two doing here. I thought you were hanging out at Roxi's house tonight."

"Yeah we were-" I started but, Luke cut me off.

"We wanted to see you." He smiled at her and she smiled back. She looked over at me and I'm guessing she new I was going to say something different.

"Hey Luke could you get me a drink down stairs please. I don't want to bother mom." He nodded and stood up and went out the door.

"So Chandler I know Luke doesn't pass up a party. Why did you come here?" She gave me a little smile.

"First could you tell me why your sick?"

"Yeah well I really can't. They really don't know what's wrong with me. I'm really sick and they don't think I'm gonna make it through this." I felt the tears starting to build up. "Oh please don't cry. I don't like it when people cry because what's wrong." I quickly wipped them away.

"I actually know what you mean." She looked confused. "I kind of have the same thing except I know that I have cancer." Her mouth dropped.

"Are you serious. Not to be rude but I was kind of wondering why your eyes were darker looking and a little sunken in." I lightly laughed.

"No it's ok I get that a lot. I just don't tell a lot of people why I look like this." She smiled a little.

"Yeah I used to be like that to. But then I couldn't hold it in anymore. I felt like it made me sicker." This is why Luke brought me here. "So I just let people know my feelings. It was the only way I could actually get some relief."

"I just don't know how to do that. I hate seeing people pity me. I don't want people worrying that I'm going to die soon. I see what it does to my family and I hate it. I don't want to see it in others." The tears came in a steady stream now.

"Your where I was a few months ago. I know it's hard but, I had my family get me through it. I used to be so mad at my brother Clayton."

"Why?"

"Cause he tried to get me to talk about it. He studied and studied about what was going on with me. Trying to find answers. There is only one answer that will save me and I can't get it."

"What? Why can't you get it. If it was touchable don't you think you would just grab it or your brother would." She lightly smiled.

"It has to find me. There is no way he can find it for me and it kills him. I hate seeing him so sad. It think that's what has changed he the last couple of years. I thinks he tries to be a ladies man to get his mind off of thinking about me and what's going to happen." That's why he's a player. Just why did he have to resort to that. I'd prefer an alcoholic to that. Well I wouldn't want either but, you know what I mean.

"So it's really been hard on Clayton then?" She smiled really big.

"Clayton and I have always been close. I'm close with Luke but, Clayton and I get each other." She smiled and narrowed her eyes at me. "You like him don't you?" Whoa what.

"What? No, No I don't" Yeah that sounded convincing Chandler.

"I think you do. You got really defensive when I said that." I put my head in my hands.

"I don't know what your talking about."

"Oh my gosh you do like him." I felt the heat rise into my cheeks.

"Like who." My head shot up. I knew that voice. Suzy started to laugh uncontrollably. I looked behind me to see if it was really him. Oh please let me just imagine it was him. When I saw the dark hair quickly turned and shrunk down in my chair.

"Oh don't worry about it Clayton." She was still giggling a little. He came to the other side of the bed and sat down. Oh I hope he didn't here me before. I don't want him to know.

"What are you doing here Chandler?" He said to me with a smile and he grabbed his sisters hand.

"Clayton use your manners. I can have visitors anytime I want." She took her hand out of his and messed up his hair. I laughed a little.

"Oh I wasn't saying it mean." He leaned back trying to fix his hair. With no luck I might add. It actually looked kind of cute all out of place. Oh gosh stop checking him out Chandler.

"Luke wanted me to meet Suzy." I said siting back up in my chair.

"Yeah. She's just been telling about her-" I cut her off before she said anything about it.

"My family." I looked at her and when she looked at me and shook my head. She gave me a sad look.

"Oh so what did she tell you." He gave us a suspicious look.

"Just how much she misses home and her friends." He folded his arms and looked at me.

"So you told her what you wouldn't tell me?" He looked a little hurt.

"You wouldn't understand Clayton."

"How would you know I would or wouldn't understand?" He leaned forward. Is he seriously getting mad.

"Ok Clayton leave her alone. She doesn't have to tell you if she doesn't want to. You have told her about you have you?" He gave her a glare.

"That has nothing to do with this. We're mates and I deserve to know." She slapped her hand over his mouth. What was that about we're mates and he deserves to know. I don't understand any of this.

"I'm just gonna go." I stood up and before I new it he was right in front of me. "How did you do that?"

"That's not the point Chandler. Please I need to know what your keeping from me. My sister did the same thing to me and she got sicker." He held on to my sisters.

"I think you just explained it yourself Clayton." I took his hands off my shoulders. "I don't care if you tell him. I just can't be here if you do." I moved passed him and ran out of the room. I ran down the stairs and saw Luke coming out of another hallway.

"Chandler where are you going?" I just kept running and went out the door and hurried to my car. I got in and started. Through my tears I saw Clayton coming after me. I pulled out quickly and when I went to go forward he was in front of the car.

"Chandler get out of the car." I shook my head at him. "Get out of the car Chandler or I'll take you out."

"Move Clayton or I'll run you over if you don't." He put his hands on the front of the car.

"I'd like to see you try." He really thinks I won't do it. I let my foot off the breaks and the car didn't move. Which is weird in should go a little bit shouldn't it. I started to lightly put my foot on the gas and the engine was going but, I wasn't moving anywhere. I looked down at the gage and said I was supposed to be going 35 right now. I could see gravel flipping from the back of my car. What the crap is he doing.

"Move now Clayton!" He just shook his head. I took my foot of the gas and slammed the car in park. I couldn't hold the tears in anymore. I just put my head in my tears and started to cry my eyes out. I heard the door open and the car shut off. My legs were pulled around and I was lifted from the car. He brought me into his chest and held me there.
