Chapter 21

Everyone was rooted to the spot as Will's mate cried, trying to wake him up, even though all her efforts were futile. It was clear to see that Will's neck had been snapped. I turned and looked over to Skylar, tears were streaming down her cheeks as she collapsed to the ground. I understood her pain to an extent. Even though Troy had tried killing me and took my position as Alpha of my pack, he was like my brother. Just like Theo and I, we both had known each other since we were pups.

"Can't you do something!" Will's mate cried out to Skylar, a wild and frantic look in her eyes. I had heard many stories of mates loosing their partners and what it felt like those first few hours. It felt as if someone was hammering nails into your heart while your body is on fire and yet they always push through that to be next to their mate, to attempt any way of having them back.

"Skylar please! Heal him! Do something! He can't leave me and our baby!" She continued to yell, looking down at his body with shaking hands. Everyone gasped in shock at the news. It hadn't been a secret that the two of them had been trying for children for a very long time now. They had gotten close one time but sadly she had a miscarriage two weeks after. Now she was pregnant, which doctors had said would be very unlikely, and her mate was now dead on the ground. She kept mumbling words to him, holding him close to her. Skylar was shaking terribly as she gazed down at her oldest brother's body before looking up to Kyle, nodding her head.

"Sky are you sure? You know what-"

"I'm sure. He's my brother. He can't leave them, not now." She stated before standing, having to need Kyle's help in doing so. Looking over at Callie, she was still in her wolf form but was staring at the body of her Uncle. Though as I really looked at her I could already tell that she wasn't here, not emotionally really. Our son has just been taken and I could already see that guilt shining in her eyes. None of this was her fault, it was Emily and Robs fault. They were the ones to blame, no one else. My attention was caught again by Skylar as she instructs someone to move Will's mate away, ignoring the woman's cries of protests. She thrashed and kicked, trying to hurt the men who were holding her back so she could go back to her mate. Looking back over to Skylar she walked over to Wills body and kneeled down next to him.

"Does anyone know how long its been?" She asked quickly as she looked around at everyone.

"F-Five minutes about...I was trying to get into the barrier before I felt this large pain in my chest and I immediately knew it was Will. I-I should have been there, this is all my fault..." Will's mate whimpered as she finally stopped thrashing around, instead her body now going limp as she gazed down at her dead mate's body, one hand placed protectively over her stomach. Skylar nodded before instructing everyone to move back.

"Now or never." She whispered to herself. I saw how nervous both her and Kyle was, it was obvious when he had to restrain himself from walking over to her but he remained still and continued to watch. She closed her eyes as she placed her hands on top of his head and behind his neck where it had been snapped. She began whispering words that were incomprehensible. Some looked down at her in complete confusion but soon we saw a glimmer of light. It surrounded her hands before moving all around Wills body. She was healing him? I thought her healing powers didn't work on the dead? The light continued to consume Will's body until we were no longer able to see him before suddenly the light was pulled into his body. Skylar whimpered and collapsed next to her brother. Kyle immediately went over to her, picking her up and clutching her to his body tightly. We all waited, no one making a sound aside from Kyle whispering softly to Skylar for her to wake up.

We all began to lose hope as we waited and waited, Will did not move. This caused his mate to cry even louder, tears pouring down her cheeks as she continued to rub her stomach slowly. It didn't work. Everyone turned and began to walk away, Kyle standing up and carrying Skylar off before I heard Callie whimper. I turned to face her and she was standing over Will's body. Her tail was wagging? I walked over to her, kneeling next to her before pressing my finger against his neck, attempting to feel for a pulse. I didn't feel anything at first but there it was, it was barely there, but it was there!

"He's alive!" I called out to everyone. I heard shuffling behind me before his mate appeared by his side, feeling his pulse as well. When she felt the soft beat she cried out in pure happiness. She looked down at him in pure love, whispering how they were going to be a proper family this time. I rarely ever saw someone looking at the other which that much love, to me it was beautiful. I had always wanted that. I cautiously looked up at Callie and she was looking at Will and his mate with a longing look. My heart clenched tightly knowing why she was longing for that. I took it away from her, it was my fault that she didn't know how it truly felt to be cared for like that. I stood from my spot and took a step back. I was causing her all of this pain and now added on top of that pain is our son who has been taken. She doesn't deserve any of this pain, she was the kindest, most caring and strongest person I knew. It's not like I haven't thought of putting aside my feelings of mates for her, hell I had thought about it many times even before I knew she was my mate but my mind kept telling me that we could end up just like my parents.

I couldn’t do that. I couldn't handle it. I didn't want her to realise that she deserves so much better...

I ran back to the pack house, needing to put some space between me and everyone else, between her. She is such a beautiful woman, a beautiful woman who gave me two wonderful pups. I may not have known Payton for a very long time but the amount of time I had spent with him was the most incredible time I had in my life. The same with Trevor. They were my sons, they are my sons. I already lost one, I couldn't lose Trevor too. I wasn't mad at Callie anymore for hiding them away from me. All I wanted now was to get Trevor back and be the best father that I can ever be for him.

When I reached the pack house I went upstairs to the shower. I needed to cool off and quickly. As I stood under the cold spray of water, I couldn't keep my tears back. It seemed that nothing was going right in our lives, that everyone was against us, and yet it all effected Callie the most. She deserves so much yet fate has decided to pair her up with a useless mate, taken away one of her pups and now having the other being kidnapped by a maniac. I tensed as I suddenly heard the shower door open, my back facing away from the person. She stepped inside and wrapped her arms around my waist. I turned and looked down at her, her eyes filled with sadness. We needed each other right now. So instead I pulled her closer to my body, continuing to look down at her while my fingers grazed over her cheek softly. There was a cut across her lip, making me want to rip out the hearts of the person who gave that to her.

"Callie-" I whispered but she shook her head. She didn't want to talk, not right now. Instead she leaned up and pressed her lips softly against mine. The feel of her soft lips against mine broke down my walls and soon enough we were kissing under the cold spray. No talking. Frankly we didn't need it, this was enough for us right now. We were finding comfort in each others arms, wanting to be in another world and escape ours just for a little bit. I pressed her up against the wall of the shower, picking her up and immediately her legs wrapped around my waist. Her fingers ran softly through my hair, pulling on it occasionally causing a growl to escape from my lips. As time went on our movements became more heated, it felt like any second I would take her-

"Meeting in five minutes!" Someone yelled from outside of the bedroom but we both heard it, instantly stopping what was about to happen. We were both breathing hard, my forehead pressed against hers softly as I gazed into her eyes. Neither of us spoke though, I wanted to though. I wanted to tell her that she deserves someone so much better while also telling her that I didn't want anyone else to be with her. It was so confusing, I was confusing and again she didn't deserve it. Slowly I set her down before turning off the water and we both climbed out. We dried off before changing into new clothes, her borrowing some of mine as we needed to get to the meeting and didn’t have time to go to her room. When we were dressed we headed down and made our way to where everyone was meeting. Everyone was already seated and Skylar was finally awake.

"Now that everyone is here we can begin." Skylar stated as she sat up. Kyle was rubbing her back up and down and it was easy for everyone to see that she was still weak from earlier.

"Now I know a lot of you have questions and I will answer them but allow me to speak first." She started off and continued. "When I was training with my new powers I was told many things. I was also told that with having such a large amount of power there are consequences, especially with me being human, so to speak. One of those consequences, which is the most dangerous one is when it comes to my power of healing. I was taught that I can save anyone, even if dead, but with two requirements. It must be in under ten minutes and that person must want to come back, if they feel that it is their time to go, my power cannot stop them. For instance with Parker, I tried to save him, knowing the risk it will have on me, but I tried. He didn't want to come back though, so my power did not work. Will wanted to come back. The dangerous part in all of this, is that I can die. I do not know how many times I can heal someone, all I know is that if I use my healing one to many times I leave this planet and take over as the Moon Goddess. Kyle joining me as well." Everyone sat in silence, thoughts running wild at the news.

We all knew that Skylar couldn't use all of her powers when ever she pleased, there were a select few that she used from time to time for small things, usually with pranking her brothers but now that I thought about it, it made sense that she would be cautious on using her powers. They made her strong, they made her powerful, more powerful than anyone here but it came with its consequences. It seemed that even being the Moon Goddess had its cons. Looking over at Callie I noticed the worry in her eyes, she was scared for her mother. I could imagine the kinds of questions she was asking herself. What if someone important here dies, will Skylar risk her life to save them? How many times can she actually do it? Instead of letting her dwell on all those thoughts I took her hand in mine, squeezing it reassuringly. She looks over at me, a small smile on her lips before turning back to her mother, the meeting starting up again.

"So what's the plan now to get Trevor back? Can you not teleport to where he is and get him?" Uncle Liam asked Skylar curiously, leaning back in his chair as he gazed over to his sister.

"If I knew the exact location, I would have. My powers only go so far. I need to know the place before I'm actually able to teleport there." Another plan thrown into the trash. It seemed that all of Skylar’s powers were fighting against us right now. It was all so confusing, we just wanted our son back. Was that really to much to ask for? The meeting continued from there, and it seemed any plan thrown into the wind was useless. Everyone was frustrated, angry and annoyed. Skylar was about to end the meeting before we heard the phone ring.

"Adrian can you please get it." Skylar asked then turned back to the group. I nodded my head and stood up, walking over to the phone and answering. Before I can say something I'm cut off.

"I can help you get your son, Trevor, back."
