Laboratory 5

I was being dragged. My eyelids feel heavy as they struggle to stay open. My eyes were blurry and couldn't perceive anything as I'm looking around, not knowing where I was and how I got here.

The blurriness in my eyes slowly began to disappear as the figure of two men, wearing all black, started to become clearer and clearer by the second. I shifted my gaze from them and started looking around me and tried to observe my surroundings.

I was being dragged across a vast, dark, and metallic hallway. The smell was disgusting, a mixed scent of dust and… Blood.

My vision started to become clearer as I looked around me. Five large glass panels filled the hall. There were two on the right, two on the left, and one at the end of the hallway. The four glass panels on the sides all had someone inside them. Each cell had a silhouette of a young boy or girl inside them, all of them were weeping as the two men that were dragging me walked towards the fifth cell.

Upon reaching it, one of the men started tapping on a control panel on the left side of the cell before the glass panel opened up like an automatic door. The two men picked me up, and threw me inside, making me hit the iron floor with the back of my head.

The pain that I felt in my entire body has completely stopped me from crawling towards the bed, the only thing that was inside this vast and enormous cell. I barely moved my eyes to look in front of me, just for them to land on the sight of a large one-way mirror that was on the entrance.

"Please-...let this be-...a dream." With my eyes slowly closing, I said in a desperate attempt, a final silent cry for help, wishing that all of this is just a bad dream that I'll soon wake up from.

"Good morning, Kurayama." I woke up in a shock while violently gasping for air after hearing that voice, that cheerful, familiar voice.

I sat up, looked in front of me, and saw the figure of two familiar people. Very familiar people.

Behind the previously one-way mirror, that is now a normal glass panel, stood Katsuri, Akuishi along with two guards and two researchers. They were all staring at me with indifferent eyes, except for Katsuri who had a wide and friendly smile plastered on his face.

I stood up and subconsciously clenched my fists to the point where blood started to drip from them as I proceeded to furiously punch the glass panel with all the strength I had, only for it to break my arm as it twisted in a weird angle. The excruciating pain in my limb was so unbelievable to the point I couldn't stop the cry of anguish I spontaneously released.

"Oh my dear Kurayama, you shouldn't have done that so suddenly. This glass is almost unbreakable, something that not even superpowered people can break. Poor boy, I really feel bad for you." Katsuri's smile almost had joy and happiness leaking from it as he spoke in a pleasant tone of voice.

"Should I heal him?" Akuishi asked in a nonchalant voice.

"Don't be so hasty, Akuishi. My dear Kurayama is still inexperienced with pain, it would be irresponsible of us to expose him to high doses of pain so suddenly. Heal him when he's done." Katsuri turned towards Akuishi and released a quick laugh before he started talking.

"Sir, should I activate the sleeping gas?" One of the guards shoved himself into the conversation and asked.

"Yes, but use a light dose of gas. He needs to be awake for the next experiment you know." Katsuri turned towards the guard and gave him a friendly and gentle smile before he walked away.

"Understood." The guard replied before he started messing with the control panel until a purple smoke came out from the walls.

Suddenly, my vision began to get blurry, and my knees were too weak to lift the weight of my body. I struggled to stand up, but I eventually collapsed on the ground due to my extreme dizziness.

One of the guards entered the room with a stretcher while the other picked me up and placed me on it. They strapped me onto the stretcher so that I wouldn't move.

Akuishi, along with the guards and the scientists all exited the cell and walked towards the next experiment room, while I was too busy with the immense and unbelievable pain in my arm to notice that I was being transported.

After arriving at the experiment room, they were unstrapping me as I heard some disturbing screams of pain and horror coming from that very room. The large metal door leading to it was opened from inside before two guards and a researcher came out from it while carrying a boy, that looked to be of my age, on the stretcher. But what was more disturbing, was that I didn't react at all, I didn't feel anything for him because of the pain in my arm and the fact that I...was next.

'What the hell is in that room? What happened to him?' I thought to myself.

After entering the room, the guards placed me on a titanium chair and strapped me onto it while one of the researchers was placing a helmet on my head, just like the previous ones. As I was looking around me, trying to analyze this somewhat empty room, except for the screen that was in front of me, one of the researchers stood in front of me, grabbed a spray can, and sprayed it on my eyes.

"Don't panic. Your eyes are okay. You just won't be able to close them for the next-...two hours, maybe. Anyways, thirty seconds until the show starts, let's get moving people." The researcher yawned as he stated in an informal tone of voice.

A timer suddenly came up on the screen, indicating how long until this 'show' would start.

10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...0

The screen was rapidly flashing with pictures and videos of brutal, gruesome, and inhuman scenes from crime scenes, snuff movies, and wars.

The sight was gruesome to the point I instantly vomited after ten seconds of watching it. I desperately tried to look away from the screen, but I couldn't because I was completely strapped onto the chair. I used all of my energy and power to try and close my eyes, but my eyelids didn't even flinch. They were wide open.

My sense of time and my humanity were slowly disappearing by the second as I stayed in that room. I didn't flinch even after seeing people getting raped and murdered in full detail. But before everything finished, the last few photos and videos were the ones that completely broke me down.

The photos were a close-up of my family's dead bodies, a gruesome one that was disgusting to an unbelievable point. And the next video ended up becoming the finishing touch for my insanity.

It was a video of my father, brutally murdering all of my family while Katsuri was doing a cheerful commentary while laughing. The sound of my family's screams of pain was loud and clear as the video showed their brutal murder in detail. The video ended after my father completely mutilated my mother's dead body before decapitating her as he was releasing mixed cries of pain, disbelief, and despair.

I opened my mouth wide, wider than humanly possible to the point where I broke my jaw, and released the loudest scream that I could manage.

All my sadness, pain, and despair were released in one single scream that destroyed my vocal cords and rendered me unconscious.

"It has been exactly two hours, and judging from that scream, I guess he finally reached the climax, which means that the show is over. Alright, let's get in." Before opening the door to the chamber, one the researchers said after yawning while checking his watch.

Young Kurayama has finally gone insane. His soul, his mind, his will to live, all were broken. He became a mindless puppet who has no hope for life anymore. His life...has practically ended.

One of the researchers pulled out two syringes from a small handbag that he was carrying and proceeded to inject Kurayama with both of them. The first syringe had a serum containing concentrated food extracts to fill his food supply for today, and the other one contained a serum able to dissolve waste from the large intestine and urinary tract.

The two guards unstrapped Kurayama and placed his unconscious body on the stretcher before they made their way out of the chamber. They walked towards his cell, and casually threw him inside of it, completely disregarding his physical and mental condition.

Next day:

"Good morning, my lovely Kurayama. It is Wednesday." The voice of an awfully familiar person said in a cheerful and caring voice.

Kurayama was still asleep, but after hearing that voice, he casually woke up, walked towards the glass wall, and glared at Katsuri with wide eyes. He clenched the fist of his broken arm and punched the glass wall, twisting his arm in an unbelievably painful way.

"Hahaha! I will kill you-...you know that!" Kurayama glared at Katsuri, maniacally laughed, and barely uttered those words because of his lost voice.

"Oh my god! Kurayama, my lovely Kurayama! You are making me tremble with happiness! You have grown so much in so little time! I think I might die from overjoy!" Katsuri laughed from pure joy and happiness after hearing Kurayama struggle to talk.

The two guards that were standing next to Katsuri silently watched the two individuals glare at each other and maniacally laugh.

"Oh, Kurayama. I wish we could have an entire day where we would just sit down and talk to each other. But, work is work. Don't worry, the next time we talk, it'll be very fun." Before he tapped on the control panel to release the sleeping gas, Katsuri stated in a voice filled with a little disappointment while maintaining his friendly and playful smile.

But the gas didn't do anything, Kurayama was just laughing maniacally as he glared at Katsuri.

The two guards opened the cell and walked towards Kurayama to try and chain him up. But the latter continued to laugh in a crazy way as he eyed the two guards before he rushed towards one of them and pinned him down.

Kurayama tried to use his broken arm to choke the guard to death, but the other guard electrocuted Kurayama and restrained him.

The guards used a titanium chain on Kurayama after pinning him to the ground. The boy was still laughing maniacally, but he was crying. Tears were running down his cheek as he continued to laugh.

After the two guards transported Kurayama, one of them came up to what looked like a vault door and struggled with turning its valve to open it. When it opened, it revealed a very narrow white room with nothing but a light bulb dangling from it's sealing, radiating a bright white light.

Kurayama was thrown into the vault before the door closed behind him. He walked to the corner, sat there, and kept laughing as tears raced down his cheeks, hitting the metallic and cold floor like raindrops.

After six days:

"Do you think he's still alive, Akuishi?" While walking in hurried steps, the guard curiously asked.

"Yes, that researcher told me that his last injection would last four days. I hope Katsuri's right and that this kid is finally stabilized." After letting out a deep and tired sigh, the sleep-deprived Akuishi replied.

"I heard he turned insane after the dehumanization experiment. Is it true?" After raising his eyebrow, the guard asked Akuishi in wonder.

"Yes. Not the good kind of insane that makes someone give up, but the opposite. He became extremely hostile after he turned insane."

"Really?!" The guard asked in disbelief.

"Yeah. Even after he became insane and conflicted, his rage was still very much there. The thirst for revenge and his blood lust was very much present, at an alarming rate may I say."

"That's not good. Is the isolation experiment really going to make him obedient?" Before reaching the vault, the guard asked in a concerned voice.

"Six days in a completely silent and narrow room with a white light that is always turned-on while being chained with no food or water with only a bunch of memories of your family being massacred. It doesn't matter if he's god himself, nobody can survive that much mental pain." After eyeing the guard and giving him an evil smirk, Akuishi replied in a confident voice.

The guard opened the vault door just to see Kurayama sitting in the corner with his eyes wide open and bags under his them, not uttering a single word or moving at all.

"As expected, not even you can survive such torture. Anyways, full healing." After placing his hand on Kurayama's forehead, Akuishi said in a voice filled with disappointment and disinterest.

The guard proceeded to unchain Kurayama and take him out of the vault. Then, he walked Kurayama back to his cell, while the latter did nothing but obediently walk to his prison.

Kurayama sat in his dead quiet room, in the corner, and stared at the one-way mirror, completely dead inside. Just sitting, waiting for what's coming next.

Next day:

"Good morning, my lovely Kurayama, it's Monday." The same cheerful, joyful, happy, playful, and caring voice said.

Kurayama was already awake, he was sitting in the corner of the room staring at the floor while holding his arms to his head.

"I came here a little early so that I could talk to you. Remember, I promised that today will be fun!" He said in a friendly voice. Kurayama was just sitting in the corner, eyes wide with bags under them.

"Oh my dear Kurayama, you must not feel so broken after such things! There are still many more things we must do! If you break so quickly, it won't be fun to continue."

Kurayama took a quick glance at Katsuri and stared at the floor again.

"Do you still hate me? Oh, Kurayama, you're breaking my fragile heart. Well, I do owe you some information on why all of this happened to you." As he was gazing at Kurayama, Katsuri had a happy smile plastered on his face before the boy trembled upon hearing his words.

"You should know that your father was a researcher working for us. He is the one that helped create the gamma serum when he started working on it 12 years ago so that he could aid his family financially. He helped us very much, but he was against the idea of using it on humans, and don't even get me started about his reaction to the weapons program.

He was so stubborn and rebellious, just like you, and somehow he managed to convince other researchers that this program is 'bad.' Still, he was very-...interesting, so I gave him two choices.

To work for us and save his family, or rebel and cause their untimely death. Unfortunately, he chose the second one, and he didn't stop at just that, he stole the serum and tried to escape from the facility while trying to call your mother and warn her about us.

His plan almost worked and he almost ran away from us. But Akuishi already anticipated his actions and caught him before he could've disappeared and warned your mother.

He wasn't just annoying me now, he was even breaking the rules of my game, and you know that those who break the rules must be punished. His punishment was simple, he just had to kill his family, but he refused. So, we forced him to do it with just a little injection.

My lovely Kurayama, I still remember how your father slashed the adorable little Hina in the stomach and made her guts spill out, how he severed Aiko in two pieces, how Katsu tried to act like a hero and stop his father, only to miserably fail. And finally, how he pinned your mother to the ground and mercilessly severed her head while she was pleading to spare her.

Oh my dear Kurayama, I still remember how soft and silky your mother's bloody hair felt when I grabbed it. And finally, the look you gave me when you entered and saw the beautiful sight of your dead family. It still fills me with pleasure every time I remember it." Katsuri said in a voice filled with an unusual amount of happiness, one that no human should ever feel no matter what good things happen to them.

Kurayama curled up in his corner and cried softly and silently. Even when he was dehumanized, the pain of losing his family was still too great to bear.

"Katsuri?" After walking up to Katsuri, Akuishi said in a confused voice.

"Oh, Akuishi." After shifting his gaze towards Akuishi, Katsuri replied as a joyful and friendly smile formed on his face.

"Why are you here so early? Don't you ever feel asleep?" After yawning, Akuishi asked as he gave a tired but friendly smile to Katsuri.

"As long as it's for my dear Kurayama, I'll even stay here all night." After shifting his gaze towards Kurayama, Katsuri replied.

"You never change, you sick fuck." After releasing a deep sigh, Akuishi said in a casual voice before he smirked.

"Only for Kurayama. So, where are the others?" After standing up and walking towards Akuishi, Katsuri asked in a perplexed voice.

"They're coming right now. By the way, are you sure about this test?"

"Of course, why are you asking?" After happily smiling, Katsuri asked as he tilted his head sideways.

"Well, it's 6 AM. I was thinking about starting with something a little lighter, for my sake of course." After yawning while rubbing his eyes, Akuishi said in a tired voice.

"Of course not. Kurayama has grown up, we must not treat him like a child anymore. I am sure that he himself doesn't want to." After patting Akuishi's back, Katsuri said in a confident voice before he gazed at Kurayama and grinned.

While the two were chatting, two guards along with a researcher entered the hallway with a stretcher and proceeded to walk towards Katsuri.

"Sir." The researcher said as he gave a respectful nod to Katsuri.

"Should we use sleeping gas?" One of the guards asked.

"No, that is no longer necessary. My lovely Kurayama has finally become obedient."

"Understood." The guard replied as he opened the containment unit and signaled the other guard to enter the chamber with the stretcher. The two guards picked up Kurayama and placed him on the stretcher and strapped him on it. The two guards exited the cell and made their way towards the test room with the researcher and Akuishi.

The test room had a titanium chair with straps on both sides and a large table that had a lot of needles and chemical substances on it.

"Jeez, is the chair necessary? That's only a waste of budget." Akuishi asked in an irritated voice.

"Yes, Sir. The subject is powerful. Even if he is obedient, we can't be sure that he won't react on impulse." The researcher replied.

"Well, won't he break out from those straps?" Akuishi asked.

"The straps are made of Dyneema, so it's unlikely that he will break out of them." The researcher replied.

"Okay, I understand. Fucking Katsuri never tells me anything." Akuishi mumbled to himself.

The guards strapped Kurayama to the chair and placed a brain-wave reading helmet on his head, while the researcher grabbed a syringe full of a blue chemical.

"That again?" Akuishi asked.

"It's obligatory, sir. He needs to be injected by the gamma serum, so when we inject him with the poison, the serum then tries to evolve the body and create a powerful immune system to help stop and counter the poison."

"Which poison are we starting with?" Akuishi asked in an interested and intrigued voice.

"The Tetrodotoxin neurotoxin, but first he must be injected with the gamma serum." The researcher said as he walked up to Kurayama and injected him, he spazzed on his seat as his veins turned light-blue.

"Great response, he improved way beyond our expectations. Now for the neurotoxin." The researcher said as he grabbed the needle that had a lot of poison in it and injected the boy with it. Kurayama violently gasped as he was struggling and groaning from the pain.

The researcher backed up and walked towards a monitor wired to the helmet. "Hmm, his body is reacting violently to the poison but I don't expect him to beat it in the first try." He casually said as he scratched his chin.

Kurayama struggled with the poison, but he stopped grunting and jumping up and down on his chair.

"I see, he has lost sensation." After Kurayama stopped moving, the researcher stated in an interesting voice.

"I see, he finally reached paralysis of muscles. I have to admit, he held up pretty well. Akuishi sir, would you please?" The researcher asked with a respectful voice.

"Full healing." After grabbing the boy's shoulder, Akuishi said in a sleepy voice before the boy gasped for air after he woke up. He was struggling to breathe as he was still suffering from the aftereffect of the neurotoxin.

The researcher walked up to Kurayama while holding two syringes, the ones that he needs daily, and injected him with them.

"Alright, we should move him now to the gas chamber." The researcher said as he signaled the two guards to move him out.

"Sir, I'm sorry, but you need to be inside with him, so he doesn't die. Here, take this gas mask. It's made to withstand any type of toxic gas." After walking up to Akuishi and giving him the gas mask, the researcher said in an apologetic voice.

"Sure." As he wore the gas mask, Akuishi replied in an irritated voice before he glared at the researcher.

The two guards placed Kurayama in another chair as they strapped him in and placed a wireless brain-wave reading helmet on his head.

Akuishi walked into the chamber before the two guards walked out and closed the door while the researcher was standing in front of a large control panel.

"Now we will proceed with the test using the hydrogen cyanide." Said the researcher as he flickered a switch that was in the control panel before a barely audible sound came out from the walls of the chamber.

"It has been a few minutes, and he only has dizziness, headache, weakness, and fatigue. He should have more serious symptoms by now, he is doing pretty well." The researcher said.

45 minutes later:

Kurayama was violently spazzing out on the chair as he was vomiting blood before he suddenly stopped moving.

"Low blood pressure, slow heart rate, convulsions, lung damage, and unconsciousness. He did pretty well for his first time." The researcher said as he stopped the flow of the gas. "Akuishi sir, you can heal him now." The researcher stated as he spoke over the speakers.

Akuishi nodded as he walked towards Kurayama. "Full healing." He said in a tired voice after he grabbed the boy's shoulder.

Kurayama woke up, still suffering from the effects of the gas as he was visibly confused. The researcher ordered the guards to pick up Kurayama and get him back to the previous test room.

The researcher entered the test room with Akuishi and picked up, what looked like, an empty needle as he made his way towards Kurayama.

"Are you going to inject him with air?" Akuishi said after releasing a quick laugh.

"It may seem like there is nothing in this needle, but it has a meager amount of Polonium." The researcher professionally replied.

"Polonium?" Akuishi asked with a slight surprise in his tone.

"Polonium is the deadliest poison out there. It is 250,000 times more toxic than hydrogen cyanide. Just seven trillionth of a gram of Polonium is enough to kill any adult.

A single gram of Polonium could kill 10 million people. The element's toxicity coupled with radioactivity makes it impossible for the victim to survive when exposed to even the tiniest dose. The boy here will be injected with one trillionth of a gram of Polonium."

"He'll instantly die. That's quite the opposite of what we are trying to do." Akuishi said, seemingly clueless.

"He would have, but he was injected with the gamma serum, and he also withstood the gas chamber for 45 minutes. It would take a couple of minutes to kill him." The researcher said as he injected Kurayama with the toxin.

Thirty seconds after his injection, Kurayama suddenly spasmed as his eyes widened and pupils turned upwards. His body convulsed while he struggled to even produce any sounds of pain. The fact that blood constantly escaped from all his seven orifices would already be gruesome enough if not from the never-ending stream of foam and saliva that Kurayama immediately spilled from his mouth.

"In thirty seconds, he will die from total organ failure, Akuishi ." The researcher stated.

Akuishi got close to Kurayama and grabbed hold of his shoulder. "Full healing." He said as he used his power of full healing for five minutes. Kurayama was alive but unconscious.

"What now?" Akuishi asked.

"He will be injected with various microbes, viruses, and nano viruses." The researcher calmly stated as he grabbed a bunch of syringes.

"Isn't that going to kill him?" Akuishi curiously asked again.

"He survived Polonium for two minutes. I don't think any other disease or virus in the entire world could kill him now." Said the researcher with a tint of surprise in his eyes while lightly hitting the syringe.

"Do I need to stand by to heal him?" Spoke Akuishi, almost collapsing from the lack of sleep.

"No, that won't be necessary. After he gets injected, he will be transported back to his cell. Think of it as a vaccination." Said the researcher while shrugging his shoulders.

"Finally! Thank fuck! I was dying for just two more minutes of sleep!" Akuishi, after releasing a loud and deep sigh, stated as he walked out from the chamber while rubbing the back of his head.

The researcher injected Kurayama with various viruses and diseases as he was still unconscious before he ordered the guards to get him back to his cell. The guards got Kurayama back to his cell and closed it.

Kurayama was lying down on the metal floor while coughing loudly as he was still suffering from the various viruses injected in him.

Suddenly, a Klaxon Alarm echoed throughout the entire facility before a voice started talking through the loudspeakers of the whole facility.

"Subject number 5 has broken out of the experiment room, killing multiple guards and badly injuring Akuishi. I repeat, Subject number 5 has broken out of the experiment room, killing multiple guards. I want all available guards to capture and stabilize subject number 5 immediately."

The sounds of heavy footsteps dashing through the corridors and hallways of the entire facility can be heard from afar. The alarms continued to play through the loudspeakers, muffling the sound of guns and screams coming from somewhere around the facility.

The sound of the battlefield echoed throughout the facility. The sound of the metal walls busting, shots being fired, and the horrifying screams of pain echoing throughout the facility were all because of one subject escaping containment. Subject number 5.

It has been half an hour before that voice talked again. "Subject number 5 has been successfully captured and stabilized. He will now be brought back to his containment unit. All injured staff must make their way to the infirmary as soon as possible."

Even with all of this going on, Kurayama hasn't moved from his spot as he was still struggling and suffering from the virus injection. The pain eased after a couple of hours and Kurayama was finally able to sleep.

"Hey! wake up, you piece of shit!" a voice shouted.

Kurayama woke up confused after being kicked in his shoulder while trying to analyze what just happened to him. He looked up to see Akuishi standing right beside him.

"I thought that all subjects are stabilized and obedient, but it seems like you fuckers love resisting, that's why from now on every single Sunday will be my day to have my way with you all." He said before he delivered a powerful kick to Kurayama's face, knocking multiple teeth out of his mouth.

"Oh, by the way, today's torture will be in your cell." Said Akuishi as he stomped on Kurayama's head, breaking his nose and jaw before he pulled out his handheld radio. "Send me a titanium chair with a large table and multiple torture devices to containment cell #1".

Three guards entered the cell with one carrying a titanium chair, the other carrying a large foldable metal table, and the last carrying a big duffle bag. The first guard was strapping Kurayama to the chair, the second one was setting the table, and the third one was placing torture equipment on the table like knives, saws, scissors, tasers, etc...

"Let's start with something simple." Said Akuishi as he picked up a large bowie knife and proceeded to slash Kurayama's chest. The latter screamed as blood started coming out of the wound.

"Oh, did that hurt? Well then, sorry. Just sit with the pain until it passes, and you will be calmer for the next one." He said as he slashed Kurayama's stomach, spilling his guts all over the floor. He screamed and cried from the excruciating pain.

"Its okay, little boy. This pain is still nothing compared to that of losing your family, isn't it?" Akuishi said after putting down the knife and picking up a bottle of acid from the table. He splashed it on Kurayama's eyes, burning his entire face.

Sasori picked up the knife again and stabbed Kurayama's throat. The boy couldn't do anything as he was choking on his blood, waiting for his death that will finally set him free.

Akuishi got closer to Kurayama, their faces were only inches apart.

"Now, I completely understand what Katsuri means. Torturing you gives me pleasure, beyond anything else, Kurayama." Akuishi said as joyfully smiled.

"Akuishi, we need you at experiment room number 10. Please be there immediately." A voice said over the radio.

"Well, I guess the fun has ended for today. Full healing." He said as Kurayama was fully healed as if nothing happened to him.

"Next week will be better. You have my word." Akuishi said as he walked out of the cell, leaving Kurayama completely traumatized, sitting in a chair drenched in his blood.

Kurauyama was living hell, far beyond anything else.
