Re-Human

The tests and experiments that Kurayama has been subjected to have killed him mentally and morally, but made him stronger physically. As with each test and experiment, he became stronger and more durable. But he became like a lifeless puppet more and more as time went by.

He has been subjected to all kinds of toxins, gasses, diseases, tortures, and even sometimes mutilation and dismemberment by Akuishi. He endured all kinds of mental and physical pain, those that no human can survive. But he always gets brought back to life by, the angel of death, Akuishi.

Akuishi was a cruel, heartless, and despicable human being who loved all kinds of torture. The only man worse than him was without a doubt, the mastermind of this living hell, someone who sincerely and genuinely enjoyed seeing people in pain, seeing people suffer, seeing people get tortured. The laughing man in darkness, Katsuri.

Katsuri and Akuishi loved torturing Kurayama more than anything else in the world. Katsuri loved seeing him in despair, while Akuishi used him as a stress relief. It only got worse, after Kurayama made no improvement in the evolvement program, three years later.

"This kid is one of the most utterly useless broken pieces of shit in the entire organization, and I honestly can't believe that you convinced us to keep him here for three years! What the fuck, Katsuri?" Akuishi started ranting and cursing at Katsuri, which the latter only replied to by smiling.

"Now don't be angry, Akuishi. Young Kurayama here is developing, but very slowly." Katsuri replied as he tried to calm down the infuriated Akuishi.

"With all due respects, Katsuri, but you are wasting the organization's budget on a subject that isn't useful at all. The other subjects of Lab 5 are light years better than him." Akuishi said, trying to defend his argument.

"Oh come on, it can't be that bad!" After bursting with laughter, Katsuri said in a sarcastic voice.

"Subject #2 has a flame power unbelievably hot to the point where he melted a steel door like butter.

Subject#3 has wind powers that created a miniature tornado.

Subject#4 has powers of ice and lightning. It's a weird combination, but it's still convenient and tactical.

And that bastard, Subject#5 is the strongest of them all. He tried to break out 85 times, leaving a total of 436 guards and researchers dead.

My point is, that this little shit is nothing compared to the weakest test subjects." Akuishi said.

"He has physical and mental endurance more than any other laboratory subject, and I also don't want to get rid of my favorite toy. By the way, you still don't know why I picked him and not the other Kurayamas, right?" Katsuri said as an evil grin formed on his face.

"No, not really. Except for the fact that he's important." Akuishi replied in a calmer and more tired voice.

Katsuri leaned on Akuishi and whispered something into his ear, which the latter responded to by widening his eyes in shock and taking a few steps back.

"No way, no way, no fucking way!" Akuishi said in absolute shock and disbelief.

"Oh, you still don't know anything, my friend." Said Katsuri in a joyful voice, indicating his absolute satisfaction from seeing Akuishi's reaction.

"Shit. This is honestly a lot to take in so suddenly. But I still am concerned that he might be a waste of budget and resources." After releasing a deep sigh and taking a deep breath, Akuishi stated in a doubtful voice.

"Budget isn't a problem, my friend. We have something far more important." Katsuri stated before he shifted his gaze at Kurayama. "Don't worry, my lovely Kurayama. We will have a lot of fun in the next few years." He said in a playful voice that can bring chills and disgust to any human being.

Seven years later:

"Katsuri! Do you seriously have to be here every morning?" After stumbling onto Katsuri who was in front of Kurayama's cell, Akuishi said in a surprised voice.

"You don't know the enjoyment I get from this. My lovely Kurayama has brought me pleasure and joy every single day for the last ten years. I love him more than anything else." Katsuri stated in a joyful voice as a playful and cheerful smile formed on his face. "But it's a little unfortunate that he didn't develop any powers." He said in a voice filled with disappointment.

"We wasted two million dollars on him, of course, he's a fucking disappointment!" Akuishi angrily stated.

"Not really. No matter what happens, I can never hate Kurayama." After releasing a joyous laugh, Katsuri said in a cheerful voice.

"Anyways, let's get going and send him already. I want to sleep a little." Akuishi stated before he yawned.

"Of course. Goodbye, my dear lovely Kurayama. Thank you for the last ten years." Katsuri said in the same joyful voice, but it had a little bit of sadness in it this time.

"What will you do now?" Akuishi curiously asked Katsuri who was walking away.

"My job here is finally done. I must go to Lab 1 and check on the final subjects. Goodbye, you two." Katsuri waved at the two and gave them a friendly smile before he walked out of the hallway.

"I need four squads to transport Subject#1 to Lab 4 immediately." After pulling out his handheld radio, Akuishi stated in a professional voice.

After twenty guards came in, Akuishi walked away before the guards opened the cell and handcuffed Kurayama with tungsten enforced handcuffs. They walked out and took four helicopters to Lab 4 that was 400 kilometers away.

After an hour and 15 minutes, the guards finally reached Lab 4 which was underground, right under an abandoned hospital. The guards entered the lab and took a long walk before reaching a very large hall that had a lot of guards and researchers.

"Took you long enough." Upon seeing the group of guards walking towards him, the main researcher said in a voice filled with indifference.

"The boss wanted to say goodbye, nothing we can do about it. Anyways, did you find and capture Biohazard?" The guard nonchalantly asked as he gave Kurayama to the researcher.

"Survey teams Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Zeta have all been sent on a search mission for Biohazard. If  things go out of control, we will detonate the omega warheads and evaporate him for good, before the opposite happens to us." The researcher stated in a voice filled with a little bit of hesitation and concern.

"Whatever you do, just do it quick. I am sure that none of you want Katsuri to come here himself. Anyways, we will be going now." The guard stated in a threatening voice before he sighed and walked away.

"Do as you please." The researcher nonchalantly replied.

After the guards walked out and left Kurayama with the researcher, the latter proceeded to shift his focus towards the other researchers and cleared his throat before he started talking.

"Gentlemen, we will now start the brain chip experiment." He said in a loud, clear, and professional voice before he walked towards a briefcase and opened it.

The researcher grabbed a gun from the briefcase and loaded it with a small chip that was the size of a finger-nail before he walked towards Kurayama.

"You fucked up-...big time," Kurayama said in a bone-chilling and bloodthirsty voice that terrified everyone in the hall.

"Wha-...how?!" The researcher almost had a heart attack upon hearing Kurayama talk.

In a swift movement, Kurayama broke out from the handcuffs and punctured the researcher's throat.

"Guards! Guards! We have a rogue subject here!" All the researchers ran away in panic and horror while trying to call for help.

"Did you all think you could toy with peoples' lives without any consequences? For a bunch of researchers, you are all very retarded." Kurayama stated in a cold voice as he glared at the researcher choking on his blood.

"A certain traitor in your ranks has helped me mentally recover, giving me a chance to finally release-...My Wrath!" Before smashing the researcher's skull and turning it into a puddle of blood and brains, Kurayama said in a voice filled with rage as blood was splattering from the veins of his forehead.

As soon as fifty guards reached the hall and aimed their guns at Kurayama, they saw the latter completely enveloped in a dark mist while a dark and ominous aura was surrounding him. Kurayama turned around and glared at the guards with dazzling empty white eyes as some of them fainted instantly because of the pressure while the others were paralyzed with fear.

"Fell-...The wrath." Kurayama said in an emotionless voice as he eyed the guards.

Suddenly, a ginormous explosion, similar to that of a nuclear bomb, erupted from the facility and destroyed everything in a diameter of 100 Kilometers. All life in that diameter was wiped out in an instance.

One day later:

"What in the fuck has happened?!" After slamming his hand on the metallic table, Akuishi asked in a fit of rage.

"I-I-I don't know what could have caused that, sir. The United States says that it might have been a rogue warhead that belongs to the 'New World' but the Japanese government says that it's only a meteor that hit." A young and terrified researcher said as he was nervously sweating.

"I don't care about what they have to say! Did you contact Katsuri or Lab 1 about this matter?!" Akuishi asked in a voice filled with impatience.

"We tried, but all communication systems around the world have been greatly affected by that blast. We couldn't come in contact with the higher-ups."

"Fuck! I have a bad feeling about this." Akuishi said before he held his head down in frustration.

"Why sir?"

"What you don't know, is that the blast's ground zero was exactly where Lab 4 was. I have a gut feeling that someone is responsible for it." Akuishi stated in an anxious voice.

"You think it might be Biohazard?!" The researcher asked in a curious yet scared voice.

"No, someone worse. Contact all guards and tell them to evacuate the researchers immediately. After that, the test subjects must also be evacuated but only after all researchers are out. All guards must be on very high alert starting from now and send all survey teams to scout the surroundings of the facility, tell them to shoot at anything. Broadcast the message."

"Yes sir!" The researcher replied before he sprinted at full speed towards the broadcasting room.

"Attention all guards. You have to evacuate the researchers out of the facility immediately. All the test subjects must be evacuated after taking the researchers to safety. All guards must be on very high alert starting from this moment. All survey teams must scout the surroundings of the facility. Fire at anything that moves!" The researcher broadcasted the message around the facility.

All survey teams responded by immediately taking an elevator out of the facility. The elevator door opened up and the survey teams exited the facility that was located under a hill.

The teams started scouting in groups, all being very cautious and at very high alert from anything and everything that moves in the dark.

After a couple of minutes of scouting, survey team alpha spotted a dark figure moving behind the trees. The leader of the team pulled out his handheld radio and immediately contacted the other teams.

"Beta, Delta, Zeta, Epsilon, this is Survey team Alpha. We have spotted a dark figure moving behind the trees." The team leader said on the handheld radio, but there was no response on the other side.

"Beta, Delta, Zeta, Epsilon, are you there?!" The team leader shouted on the radio, but there was still no reply.

"Fuck it. Fire!" The team leader shouted before all the men pointed their guns at the tress and rained down hell on them.

After thirty seconds of shooting non-stop, the trees were riddled with holes and the bushes were all ripped to shreds. The smoke filled the air just as the bullet cartridges filled the ground. It was dead silent for a few minutes.

While the team was taking a breath after riddling the forest with bullets, the sound of footsteps was coming towards them from those very trees.

-------

A couple of minutes passed by as Akuishi was sitting on his desk, looking at his handheld radio, anxiously waiting for anything that might happen. When suddenly, the radio started to static.

"Did you find anything?!" After jumping on the radio in a wave of panic, Akuishi anxiously asked over the radio as he was nervously sweating, waiting for any response.

"Lockdown the facility! No one must enter or exit at all costs! Everyone must seek shelter in a fortified room as soon as possible! The threat level is S-tier-...AHHHHH." The sounds of gunshots and screams can be heard in the background as the team leader was shouting into the radio, followed up by an inhuman shriek of pain and horror before the radio went into static again.

Akuishi was paralyzed with fear.

"Kaguru!" Akuishi shouted before he smashed the radio on the floor.

"Yes sir!" Kaguru replied in a panic, almost having a nervous breakdown.

"All researchers must seek shelter inside a vault, immediately! The subjects are not a priority. All guards must be ready to engage, now! Broadcast the message!" Akuishi shouted before he grabbed Kaguru from the shirt collar and pushed him out of the room, almost making him fall face first.

Kaguru used all of his speed and energy to dash towards the broadcasting room as fast as he can, almost tripping and falling many times as he made his way towards it.

"All researchers must seek shelter inside a vault immediately! The subjects are not a priority! All guards must be ready to engage! Now!" Kaguru broadcasted the message.

As soon as the broadcast ended, a big explosion echoed throughout the facility right as all the researchers were trying to evacuate to a vault while the guards were running towards the explosion with their guns ready.

The researchers entered a large chamber, the one from the selection ten years ago, and closed the large metallic door, while Akuishi and Kaguru sprinted towards Kurayama's containment cell, which was the safest due to its unbelievably strong build, to seek shelter in it.

Only a minute has passed. The sounds of gunshots and screams can be heard very clearly throughout the entire facility as the researchers were sitting in horror waiting for what's going to happen.

Suddenly, everything went silent. The gunshots, explosions, and screams all stopped.

The researchers were sitting petrified as they heard the sound of hurried footsteps coming towards the vault. Suddenly, the vault door open to reveal a guard.

Blood splattered from the guard's torn-off arm as he stood in the doorway, struggling to talk as he was choking on his blood.

"S-Sa-Save me-...P-P-Please-...Urgh." The guard pleaded before a dark tentacle punctured through his chest, creating a large hole and throwing him towards the researchers.

The tentacle retracted, and standing in the doorway was a dark shadowy figure with a dark mist coming out of his body and a terrifying aura surrounding him.

He took a few steps forward and stood still for a couple of seconds, glaring at the researchers with black eyes with red pupils and veins.

Dark whips grew from Kurayama's arms as another pair of tentacles grew on his back. He dashed towards the researchers and started splitting them into pieces.

Every time he killed a researcher, his anger grew ten times more to the point where he retracted his whips and his tentacles and started killing them with his bare hands.

He kept bashing their brains in, puncturing their throats, and even grabbed a researcher and bit off a chunk of his head, just to spit it out at one of the other researchers before he grabbed him by the throat and ripped him in half.

After massacring everyone inside the vault, Kurayama grabbed the severed head of a researcher and squeezed until it cracked like an egg before Kurayama released a scream, that sounded more like a roar, filled with all of his anger, building it up more.

Akuishi and Kaguru were sitting in Kurayama's cell, which is made of the strongest material in the entire facility. It was the safest place for them.

All the screams of the researchers and guards stopped for a few seconds.

"Sir, do you think we are safe here?" Kaguru asked in a terrified voice as snot came out of his nose as much as tears raced down his cheeks. The poor young man was sitting inside the cell, petrified.

"Kaguru, sit down and shut up, he may hear us-" Akuishi stated in an anxious voice before an explosion from behind interrupted him.

The explosion destroyed the wall and killed Kaguru instantly, turning him into an unrecognizable pile of meat. The explosion tore off Akuishi right arm and left leg and made him fly towards the glass wall, shattering it from the force of the throw.

"Full healing." After he released a shriek containing all of his pain, Akuishi said before he re-grew his lost limbs.

"Do you remember me? My favorite doctor of death?" Kurayama said in a bone-chilling voice as he walked towards Akuishi.

"I knew it! It was you!" Akuishi shrieked in anger.

Kurayama stomped on Akuishi head, smashing his teeth and his nose inside of his head.

Kurayama grabbed Akuishi's shoulder with his left hand and used his right arm to punch a hole through Akuishi's torso.

"Pain share: Power share: Full healing," Kurayama said before Akuishi was fully healed again.

In a repeated motion, Kurayama used two of his back tentacles and his right arm to stab and to punch multiple holes through Akuishi's body, riddling him with so many holes, mutilating him to a point where he looked like a pile of meat lying down in a puddle of blood, just to get reset and fully healed by Kurayama.

Kurayama continued killing and healing Akuishi for two days until he stopped for a second as a ball of dark energy started forming on the palm of his hand.

"I'll meet you in hell!" Kurayama screamed as he released all of his anger.

Kurayama delivered one last attack full of rage. Killing Akuishi and blowing him to oblivion.

Kurayama was breathing heavily before he started laughing. His laugh was gradually getting louder and more insane by the second, until...he stopped...he sighed...then he walked.

Kurayama was walking through that familiar dark hallway when suddenly, he turned to look at one of the containment cells. His eyes fell on the sight of a boy with bright yellow-orange hair and golden eyes. He was sitting in the corner of the cell that was painted with dry blood, completely dead inside with no emotions.

Kurayama looked at the broken boy. The dark mist surrounding Kurayama cleared up and his face was now visible, but the mist was still covering the rest of the body.

He walked up to the glass wall and broke through it with a single fist bump before he walked up to that boy and placed his hand on his head.

"Pain share: Full recovery," Kurayama said before dark energy started coming out of the boy, climbing through Kurayama's arm, and into his head. The boy's eyes rolled back before he fainted.

Kurayama had tears flowing down from his eyes after he finished absorbing the boy's mental pain. But he was neither crying nor making a face, he only had a stream of tears running down his cheeks as he had an emotionless expression.

The pain that he saw in the boy's memories, lit up the last embers of humanity that he had, and made him have a little bit of sympathy and empathy towards the other subjects. He proceeded to do the same with the other subjects, all having their mental pain absorbed.

It was early dawn. After Kurayama has finished his monstrous rampage, he made his way out of the facility.

He stared at the bright and beautiful light of sunrise. He was supposed to feel accomplishment and happiness, but he only felt bitterness, emptiness, and sadness. Revenge was nothing but something that made his blow off some steam, it only made him calmer.

He claimed his revenge, but for what reason? Is it to live a pointless life? A life with no dreams, no passions, no family, no friends, no love, no joy, and no happiness.

Regardless of everything, Kurayama was finally free. He was finally in control of his life again.

He finally...re-humanized.
