Half way Forgiven

Those icy blue eyes just stare into my soul, inviting me to intertwine with his. I shook my head at the thought “So do you forgive me.”, were the words that brought me back to reality? I’m still supposed to be angry with him, but this mate bond is making it hard for me to think straight. “On one condition,” I suddenly said, surprising myself with the words that came out of my mouth. “Sure, what’s the condition?” he said, smirking at his victory of winning over my forgiveness making me want to make this so much harder on him. “Well for starters you stay far away from my sister. Whatever the two of you had is over with. I don’t share”. He smirked at my words, making me all the more irritated. The moment he wanted to open his mouth and say something, I interrupted him. “Also, you have to go down on your knees and say you’re sorry. I mean how else would I know for a fact it is a sincere apology?” I smirked as those words left my mouth and his vanished with no trace of his face. Then suddenly that handsome smirk found its way back. “Well, I recall you said one condition not two.” He’s right, I did say one. “Yes, one is a condition and one is just there to even the playing field. One embarrassment for another.” I never truly was this type of person but Asher brought it out of me today. I guess everyone has a bad side. Sad that we started off with it.

After thinking over the words I said for a while, he turned back to me. “Fine, we’ve got a deal”, he said with an amused smile on his face, as if my request was something minor. “Well… Get to it then.” I said, trying to call his bluff. He then got onto his knees and looked me straight in the eyes. Those icy blue eyes were carrying me away like I was lost at sea. “I’m sorry” he said in the softest tone I have ever heard leave his mouth. Especially from someone as cold and arrogant as him. For a moment, I really believed he meant it and maybe he did. “You are forgiven … for now” I got those words through with giggles in between. “I did all of that just for a… for now?” he jumped up to his feet saying it in a joking manner, but I knew he wasn’t joking. “Yes ill see with time how sorry you truly are” I said trying to hide the fact that I doubted he would be able to keep himself clean when it came to Saige. Saige, was a lot of things, but knowing men and how to seduce them was her expertise. “Well, can we go and introduce you to my parents. They are dying to meet you”. He said out of the blue, accepting his fate and moving on with life. “But, Ash, I know your parents we’ve already met,” “I know, but not, as my mate, so they have to see us together and discuss stuff with us.”. It made sense. I totally forgot about his position in the pack. He is a soon to be alpha and he has to mark me in front of the whole pack. “Are you coming or should I carry you there.” He ripped me from my thoughts. I was frozen in place for a while before I finally took the first step. I mean how bad could it be? Last time I saw them, they seemed to like me and always asked me how it was going, as if they were as worried about my wellbeing as my parents were. So I hope all goes well.

When we arrived at the pack house, we took the elevator to the top floor, which was known as the Alpha floor. There used to be the beta floor underneath them but they changed it when my parents moved out when I was born. This would be my first time seeing the top of the pack house, since it is off limits to the majority of wolves and, well, only the alpha family and the beta my father can enter. I was neither. But fear quickly replaced my curiosity. I will be Luna soon and I don’t know if I’m capable of handling all that responsibility myself. Suddenly, Ash squeezed my hand to try and bring me back to my senses. “Don’t look like you saw a ghost, otherwise my parents will think I hurt you more than I already have”. Obviously, he will make this more about him than me. I just nodded my head and continued stressing myself out. When the elevator doors opened, both his parents were standing there with big smiles on their faces. The corners of their mouths were almost reaching their ears. And it was kind of creepy and made me feel uncomfortable. I never liked to be the center of attention. And since all this happened, I was exactly that and it would become more frequent now. I wish I could just turn around and run far away, but with this matebond pulling me closer to Ash, the other half of me just wants to stay by his side and never let go. If it wasn’t for the mate bond I would have been long gone. “Scarlett, it’s so nice to see you again. I just wish it had been on a happier note earlier today”, Ashes mom jade said whilst glaring over my shoulder at Ash. “Happy birthday” she said, giving me a hug out of nowhere and for a while I stood there before returning the hug. When she pulled away, I saw a flash of guilt in her eyes but it vanished as fast as it appeared and I couldn’t help but wonder why. “Come sit” she said, guiding me to what seemed to be the lounge. It was massive. And it had a cozy feeling to it as it had a Nordic-styled design to it. Warm beige colors decorated the walls except for one which had strips of wood on and the couches were white like clouds with this beautiful chandelier that looked like an abstract lily. There was a balcony that seemed to stretch all around the house, as the glass doors did as well, and the curtains, slightly, waving in the soft wind. “Am I in a dream” I whispered to myself. “Unfortunately not.” Alpha Caleb came from behind and ruffled his hands through my hair, causing it to be a big mess. “Come we have important things to discuss” He said whilst walking to the couch and falling down in it. When we didn’t move fast enough, he gestured with his hand to the couch opposite him. everyone then followed quickly and I ended up sitting in the middle of Ash and his mom. “ The Marking ceremony will be in a week from today” Alpha Caleb stated, which made me gulp.
