INMARCESIBLE ♦ 19

I don't remember much after the fall, just that Eric cushioned my fall before I lost consciousness.

When I finally opened my eyes, I was in the infirmary; Lena sat beside my bed, looking quite worried as it is.

"Oh Sara, I was so worried when I got all your missed calls. I was in class and had my phone was in silence. I'm so sorry Sara." She almost wailed as she apologized frantically.

I, in turn smiled at her and said, "Don't worry about it, Lena. It's alright now."

"Oh, I'm so glad you're okay. When I heard you're in the infirmary from Eric I was scared for a second.†She said and I couldn't help raising a brow.

"...Eric? Talked to you?" I asked, quite astonished.

"Yeah, he came to me and told me that you fainted and that you were here. Also told me to look after you.†She nodded in response, "I only checked my call-log after he came to me."

"...Really? Where is he now?" It was unexpected of Eric to talk to Lena. He never talked to her, let alone looked at her. I doubted if he even knew that she was my roommate. Seems like he did. But I don't know what I was expecting, maybe I expected Eric to be there sitting beside me when I woke up, and start his lecturing about how I should've gone to the infirmary in the first place if I was not feeling well and other nonsense babble along the way.

I didn't show it, or rather, I think I was unwilling to admit it to myself, but the disappointment over Eric not being here was gnawing inside of me.

"I'm sorry but I don't know. He just said that I should look after you while he was going to go and get some scores settled." She muttered in confusion.

"...Uh-oh!"

It was never a good sign if there were scores to be settled on Eric's account. Rather, it was a sign of the impending apocalypse.

Not good. Not good.

I got out of bed in a swing and was about to go off in search of the ticking timebomb when Lena stopped me, "Where are you going Sara. You're not well enough."

"Trust me Lena, if I don't go now someone is going to get his head lofted off."

I had her release me and ran off to find the devil reincarnate to stop him before he had a chance to slaughter anyone.

Finding Warnard was never a hard task. Because everyone knew where he was. He was like a lone star shining and beaconing those who got a gleams of him. Now that sounded just romantic, but you get the picture. He had never gone unnoticed; yes, people kept their distance, but they could never disregard his majestic aura.

So, I finally found him in the common hall of Verona high, surrounded by a flock of anxious people. The crowd, as usual kept their distance but nevertheless swarmed around him. I couldn't see clearly at first, but it seemed like he was arguing with someone.

I walked closer to get a better look at who obtained the wrath of Eric Warnard only to see go him head to head with the ever so foolish emesis Oliver Brown. This idiot! How the hell did he provoked Eric this time.

Eric had him grabbed by his polo, his face smeared in a menacing light as the whites in his eyes turned a pinkish red, and his iris glowered teal. His lethal stare felt painful and piercing, as if his glare would tear Oliver's heart apart with a blinding teal light. He spat in a voice laced heavy with anger, "I see you've got great guts nowadays Brown. Now don't blame me for pummeling your sorry excuse of a face into a plump."

"Wha-What are you talking about." Oliver brown looked pretty intimidated, but I must say he was holding himself up good against a furious Eric.

"Don't think I don't know what you did Brown. Just because you borrowed someone else's hands to get your dirty work done, don't think I wouldn't find out the real instigator behind what happened today." Eric's face, with each passing second got uglier and uglier. I could see he was losing it real bad, I feared if he was not stopped now he would end up murdering Oliver Brown.

"I-I really don't know what you're talking about. I think you need to get your priorities straight Warnard. How could you accuse just anyon..." Oliver Brown didn't get to blurt out the rest of his defense dialogue when a heavy punch dislocated his angular jaws and sent him flying across the common hall.

For a minute Oliver Brown looked puzzled, as if he didn't understand what was going on around him. He almost looked befuddled and confused. Then he looked at the bloody broken tooth the fell out of his mouth and fell on the floor, all the while looking baffled at the turn of events. Actually, everyone including me stared at the scene stupefied, unable to bat an eye. I never knew Eric was strong enough to send a brawly muscle-head kid like Oliver brown flying with just one punch; not to mention the fact that he used violence. Eric Warnard may have been the most rude and aloof person in Verona High but never in history did he resort to violence.

"You say you are innocent when your eyes are screaming guilty you bastard!" Eric growled, "You think I wouldn't find out that it was you who bribed that wimpy Marco to stick his damn legs out to make me fall?" Eric suddenly went to the Oliver sprawled flat on the floor and once again grabbed him by the collar to pick him up with ease. "You have put your hand inside the mouth of the lion, but you dare to say you're unaware?" Eric's ominous aura was scaring off all the spectators so much that I could feel them internally shuddering under the pressure, so how could Oliver brown not feel the strain. The brawly big guy was shuddering like a weak feeble leaf now, looking at Eric like he saw the Devil himself standing right before him.

The poor guy couldn't get any words out under the daunting gaze of Eric. On the other hand, it put Eric on a worse mood and without further ado another punch came Oliver's way. Before long, Eric was thrashing Oliver like an archaic punching bag; not that Oliver didn't try to fight back but he was no match. He could only man up and take the beating quietly.

This went on for a while, I don't know for how long, but no one dared to stop the livid Eric. The pressure of his raging sea of anger was forcing him to loose his sanity. He looked like a madman possessed. I'd never seen him so angry before, it's like he wasn't in control of himself. He only knew that he wanted to vent and that the target of his wrath was right in front of him. He didn't slow down, he didn't stop. Suddenly, I saw a sharp killing intent in his burning green eyes, and I knew I had to step in, or he would end up really killing the guy.

I rushed to Eric and grabbed his back, trying to stop him, "What are you doing you idiot! You will end up killing him, stop!" I shouted at him, but he didn't seem to heed my words and kept on kicking Oliver Brown mercilessly.

"Eric!" I yelled into his ears, "Stop already! He has learned his lesson. Eric stop!"

Might as well I tried; I couldn't stop him. He was too strong for me and no one else seemed to have the mind to help me out. When I was out of my wits and literally hanging off Eric trying to stop him, I saw Lena in the crowd and shouted at her, "Lena, go get the teacher, now!" In a second she caught onto me, nodded and rushed off to get the authorities.

"I'm going to kill him." He growled and I screamed at him again, "Eric stop! He's really going to die. Please stop!" His anger coated him like a protective permafrost, no matter what I said it was pointless to try to reach him now, all of my well meant words bounced off him as good as hard rain.

When I thought I couldn't stop him anymore, a sudden flash occured and in the blink of an eye Eric was on the floor, me slumped on top of him. It seemed like someone punched him to the curb.

I quickly got off him and looked at the red blotch on his beautiful face. "Are you alright?" I asked, worried.

"...Yeah." Came the answer, it seemed like he finally came to his senses. I was relieved that the punch, though not appreciated, had him snap out of his mad spree.

"Yo cousin, seems like you've got your shit in a mess." Came a lucid voice from behind me.

I turned around to have a look at this savior at the nick of time and came face to face with an angel. Yeah, not exaggerating. He really did look like a divine being with blond hair and sharp jaws. So blond like they were strands of a newborn day, of the sunlight that called for us to open our eyes and greet the dawn. They were framing his eyes which had a thousand hues of blue and a small touch of hazel radiating in softly swooping arcs. I forgot to breathe for a second as I mindlessly stared at this beautiful being. Yeah, even I can be a sucker for beauty sometimes okay. And no one could blame me if the guy looked like the guy who was standing before my eyes right now. In fact, the entire room full of people looked mesmerized, staring stupefied at the figure that appeared suddenly to save the day.

His beautiful laughing eyes fell on me, and it almost took my breath away. For a second we stared at each other and those laughing eyes let out a baffled expression, but the look was gone in a whiff, as if it was never there. Was I mistaken or did the guy's eyes grew wide with surprise for a second?

Eric got off the floor and said in unconcealed abhorrence, "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Woah now, is that any way to address your cousin, cousin?" The guy had a playful smile on, as if every little thing amused him.

"Shut up! Who's your cousin?" Eric barked.

"You are, cousin." The guy spoke, grinning eye to eye. "Did you forget even your family now just 'cause we didn't meet up for a while?" He let out a mock hurt expression, "tsk tsk tsk, cousin(sigh) I didn't take you for the forgetting type." It was clear he was teasing Eric and was driving much pleasure while doing so.

"You..." Eric was visibly fuming beside me.

"Uh...Would you stop teasing him already Ash." A sweet voice reverberated in the otherwise silent common hall.

I looked passed the strange angel guy to look at a drop-dead gorgeous beauty coming our way. She had raven black locks and a peerless face, with puckered red lips and big vibrant greyish blue eyes she looked like a life doll walking around. She looked like a supermodel walking out of Vogue.

"Hey there Eric, been a long time." She smiled at Eric in an indorsing manner.

"What are you two doing here?" Eric gritted his teeth in anger.

"Well, you could say we heard how lonely our dear little cousin was feeling here in Verona, so we flew here right away to accompany you to curb your loneliness." The angel guy winked at Eric in his typical playful way. I could see this guy really enjoyed pushing Eric's buttons. And for that reason, he immediately attained a place in my heart.

"Shut up, you..." But the angel guy beat him to it when he suddenly directed all his attention towards me and spoke, "And who have we here?"

I, all of a sudden felt quite pressurized under all the attention I got as I fidgeted about my place.

Eric, on the other hand, come forward and stood in front of the angel guy, shielding me behind him, "I don't know why you guys decided to drop in, but I would really appreciate it if you left without another word."

"My! We were so worried about cousin, and this is how you treat us?" The angel guy wiped a lone fake tear looking pitiful. No...actually, he looked really funny to me.

I could tell Eric was on the verge of loosing his cool, "Would you just quit your stupidness and leave?"

"Whatever, hello! Nice to meet you. I'm Aslan Warnard, Eric's cousin, but you can call me Ash if you like. And this is my sister, Genevieve. Would this pretty lady like to tell me her name?" The angel guy pushed Eric away forcefully and took my hand very amorously, kissing it as he introduced himself. Where was he from, the middle ages?

Why did every acquaintance of Eric Warnard turned out to be so weird?

"Err..." I squirmed around, very much unnerved; trying to take my hand away from his hold but his grip was vice-tight. Finding no way out I muttered under my breath awkwardly, "Saraphina Valdez."

"Oh what a beautiful name, very befitting of such a cute lady." He smiled spectacularly, looking genuinely glad to make my acquaintance, while I couldn't help twitching my mouth a bit. My ears were going to melt like wax under heat from his extreme honey-coated words. Where the hell did this sweet-talker dropped out from?

"Enough!" Eric snatched my hand away from Aslan's grasp in a blaze. "I don't know what your goal in coming here is, but you better stay away from Phina." Eric glared like an deranged tiger.

"Whoa whoa whoa. Calm down cousin." Aslan put his hands up in the air in surrender. "You don't have to worry dear cousin; I'm not going to steal your little girlfriend away. I'm just a trannie professor here." Aslan shrugged while his smile never left his lips.

Under Eric's raging glare, Aslan couldn't help but sigh in blues. "Alright alright, we are leaving now cousin. Do send that poor kid behind you to the hospital. We don't want uncle to get mad now, do we?"

Under every Veronan's scrutinizing gaze, the pair of weird brother and sister walked out, but Aslan stopped midway and turned back to say, "Oh and my sister is in the same class as you, I hope you'll look after her, Phina."

"Why YOU!" Eric roared beside me in fury while Aslan walked quickly away with his sister laughing in mirth all the way out.
