CHAPTER 4: THE YOUNG MAN

MARIBELLA

"Mom, you're quite famous now," Abriana suddenly said while we're all eating our breakfasts. She extended her hand, trying to make me see on her phone. My brows furrowed as I get her phone out of her hand.

"Stop using the phone while eating, Abriana." I scolded her before I looked at her phone. It was a video of me saving the boy yesterday.

"The boy was handsome, mommy! I think I have a crush on him," I heard her giggles, and I glanced at Abriana to give her some glares and told her to finish her food, or she'll be grounded. She just pouted, which made me chuckle as I looked again at her phone, watching the video again. I shook my head as I realized how trending it was. I gave it back to Abriana as I continued eating my pancakes.

"Hon, you're in my newspaper," Antonio told me, showing his newspaper in his hands. I moved closer to him as I take a look at it. My eyes widened when I saw my picture there, and a quick article about me and it was mention how I saved the boy. Hell, how did I became that famous? I mean, I have an image to take care of besides that I'm managing our company, but my name wasn't that loud in media until that day happened.

"Our stocks might be high because of this," Antonio was so happy, I just ignored him, for sure, he was thinking about money again. He surely wanted to get some in me for the nth time, and I'm always letting him because he was my friend, and he's the father of Abriana. It would be hard for her if ever I file a divorce, so not yet, maybe soon, I guess.

After we finished our breakfasts together, Abriana requested us to come together today, and clearly, I don't want to be with Antonio. I'm just not comfortable to come to the office with him.

"Please, Dad?" Abriana pleaded at Antonio, who was looking at her with the unsure face. "It's my first day of high school! Come on! Give this to me? Please?" Abriana pleaded more as she took glances on both of us who were ignoring each other.

Antonio coughs, and it was fake which made me look at him, "Well, it's alright to me. It's up to your mother now," He even shrugged, looking at me slightly uncomfortable. I shot him with an unbelievable look.

What does he want now?!

"See? Mom, you decide! Could you manage to see me sad for the whole day on my first day--" I immediately covered her mouth in annoyance.

"Alright! Alright! Stop annoying me, Abriana!" I hissed. She was laughing while she's playfully pointing her finger at me.

"I got you!" She said while giggling. I just smiled at her as I wrapped my arm on her shoulder, guiding her to our family car.

"You drive," I told Antonio as I gave him the keys. He just nodded as he gave me a small smile and took the keys on my hand.

The whole trip was fine. I'm just trying to get through it for Abriana because she rarely to have requested on us since we were not able to see her like 24/7 a day, even on weekends. After all, I still have work, even at the house, I still work. I don't have any free time on myself. It was exhausted for me, and I'm getting too used to it now. Mom always visits us from time to time, and Abriana was quite close to her than me.

I know that I became a workaholic as Antonio became more alcoholic that even I rarely sees him at the office or in our house, he was always drinking or hiding some alcohol in his coats. Ugh, I wanted to talk to him about it, but in the end, I have no right. He's not even meddling with my businesses or in my life. So.. I decided to just let him on what he wants because it would only bring some stress to me and I have no time for that. The world was already too cruel for me, and I don't want anything else to add upon it.

I somehow wanted him to change, but I always failed and always ending up disappointing myself on his doings in life. Abriana just doesn't see it yet, and I don't want her either. But she's a smart girl, she knows what's happening between us, and she's always trying to make us something that we both didn't want to.

Years had passed by, and it was all smooth, I made the Golden Company into a Corporation now, and it was being more successful than ever it was. The world was finally being favored to me at least, and I'm already thankful for that, It wasn't easy and hell stressful for me, but it was all worth it. I can now smile proudly at anyone.

I looked at my maroon fitted gown. I wore a pair of black heels as I brought my black purse with me. My make-up was fierce enough for me, good thing that I always do some exercises whenever I have free time. I looked at the divorce papers on the table. I grinned as I've finally decided to take him off from our lives. Abriana was old enough to take the situation. I'm no longer wanted to keep in that kind of relationship.

Antonio was mad when he talked to me at the party. He didn't like the idea of us being divorced, and I know that It's not really good for the company's reputation, but it could still be managed without him being my husband.

I stopped the moment when Mr. De Marco walked towards me with the young man beside him who's good-looking in his black tux. I could say how bored he was and didn't know where he is. I smiled to hide my smirk as I excused myself from the investors that I was talking to.

"Oh, Hbd, Mrs." The young man told me which my blood boiled because of it. I didn't know what to react to. I completely lose my poise, as I watched him walk away from us, leaving his father to me who keeps saying sorry for what his son did.

Oh boy.
