QUIET COURTSHIP

TAO held the basket with his right hand and Sungmin's hand on his left as he had the whole night. Sungmin was quiet, from the time the play began until that moment when they were standing in front of Sungmin's apartment complex. They'd walked back in silence and Sungmin had questions and statements he wanted Tao to hear and answer but he couldn't get them out. He had them clogged up in this throat, his mind reeling from the silent kiss on his hand, the quiet feeding of cold pieces of chicken, bread, and fruit. The musical play was heart-warming and beautiful. Sungmin was surprised when Tao gave him a tissue to wipe his tears away. Tao didn't say anything, not even when it drizzled on their way back.

Luckily the play ended before the clouds let up. It was as if on cue to let both lovers and friends finish the play before they needed to rush for cover. Sungmin was glad that Tao had tucked the containers back sometime during Act II so that all they needed to do was carry the basket and gather the blanket. They'd used it for cover and they walked hand in hand in the soft rain. Tao had kept Sungmin from running for cover and kept their pace as slow as they possibly could. Sungmin didn't mind following his direction. Tao had calmed Sungmin once again in the face of obvious chaos.

KRIS caught sight of his friend and smsed his friends "Mission accomplished." They all decided to meet up at his place to gather whatever it was they were able to capture from the high-powered cameras that were hidden in the other EXO baskets. Tao would have a fit if he ever found out that the silent film he was doing was caught on HD cameras. The spot where they were on was relatively private but night vision cameras were not just for military use after all.

TAO wanted to say something. But he couldn't. He couldn't think of the right thing to say at the moment. He was standing in front of the most beautiful man he's ever loved and he was at a loss for words. He wanted to have someone kick him in the leg, Lay preferably so that he would just wake up from his trance and say something.

Sungmin was braver and broke the silence. "I need my hand back." Tao squeezed it and kissed it one last time before he let go. "I had a great time." Of course, manners would make Sungmin thank him. Tao felt defeated somewhat when Sungmin started to walk away.

"I..." Sungmin stopped when Tao managed to get the first word out. He turned around and faced Tao, waiting for the rest of it. "donwanabeyordonsaeng." Tao felt like a fool but he had to say it.

"What did you just say?" Sungmin looked doubt founded.

Tao brushed his hair with his hand. "I.don't.want.to.be.your.dong.saeng." he said it slowly this time to make sure he didn't mumble it out.

Sungmin smiled, relieved perhaps that he was able to get Tao's statement cleared up. "I see."

"I...don't expect you to have an answer now. But I am willing to wait." Tao began to walk away.

"How can I give you an answer when you haven't asked me anything at all." Tao felt his spine straighten.

I'm such an idiot. He turned around and walked up to Sungmin so fast the latter didn't get to expect what Tao was about to ask. Or how he was about to ask him.

His lips were soft, softer than he had expected and the shock left Sungmin's mouth open. The basket must have fallen from his hands because Sungmin's hands were on his hair holding on to him. Tao all but lifted Sungmin to him, closer, his hands on his beloved's waist.

Sungmin didn't expect Tao's question but Tao never imagined Sungmin would have this kind of answer.

It was the cheering that made them pull away from each other. Tao didn't know whether to kick his brothers or hug them as well. He wasn't willing to let go of Sungmin who was now burying his face in his chest, murmuring something he could not hear that well.

"What was that, my heart?" he asked.

"I don't want to be your hyung either." Tao could see that Sungmin was blushing and he had to kiss Sungmin again to keep from laughing out loud.

"I won't make the same mistakes this time," Sungmin said to him, their lips barely apart. Breath for breath he made his own promise. "I won't let you go. Even if you ask me to."

HEECHUL let the music sheets fall on the floor. He walked into the apartment and began to pack his things. He can't let this happen. He can't let KyuMin die. It wasn't fair that the other one is not here to fight for his chance at love. He needed to pick up his friend before this stupid rebound relationship gets out of hand, more so than it already did.
