Chapter 3: Meeting Brody

-Eva's POV

Once we arrived in town, my sisters dragged me to different shops from clothing to shoes then to makeup. I typically just walked around feeling the material while let the girls pick out something for me. Cara usually prefers making me her own personally Barbie anyways. Once they felt they found enough new clothes they decided to take me to a coffee shop for lunch.

When we stepped in the bell above the door dinged. "Hello, take a seat wherever you like. I'll be with you shortly." a young man's voice said.

Cara dragged me and Leila to a booth and sat us down. Leila started reading off some of the items off the menu until I started hearing shuffling of feet behind me. I put my hand up signalling Leila to stop talking.

"Hi my name is Brody, I am the owner of this shop as well as your waiter today." He chuckled sounding forced.

"Brody, I apologize if this is intrusive however do you have anyone to help you?" Cara speaks up placing her menu down on the table.

"Well I usually have two workers here however one is on vacation and the other didn't bother to show up... so no." He said sounding annoyed while rubbing his hands on a towel hanging from his pocket.

"We can help, we've worked in shops like this before and we don't want you to fall behind."

"Yeah, it would be fun!" Leila chirps.

"Oh no, I can't ask that of you... I don't even know you and-"

"Well my name is Cara, and these are my sisters Leila and Eva." She said gesturing to us. "Now that you know us, you have no reason to refuse our help."

I chuckle knowing my sister will not give up until he just accepts so I decide to interrupt them.

"Brody, my sister is a little head strong and knowing you need help, she will not stop until you accept so you might as well say yes and save yourself the next 10 minutes of trying to convince her otherwise." I state while both of my sisters giggle.

"Well when you put it that way, I can't refuse." Brody says with amusement clear in his voice. My sisters get up while Cara links arms with me to bring me to a bar stool sitting me next to register. I take a seat with Leila while Cara follows Brody behind the register. "Okay, so I can do all the cooking of pastries. Do you know how to work an espresso machine?"

"Yea, I just need you to show me where the roast blends are located." Cara says back to him.

"Follow me back here... "He says putting a towel down by the register. I listen to their foot steps retreating while Leila swings her legs in the chair beside mine.

"Alright, now that their gone. Tell me about him." I say turning my direction towards Leila. Although she is young, she is still very inquisitive and I trust her opinion above all others... even Cara.

"Brody seems to be same age or maybe a year ahead of you and Cara. He is about 6'4" and has a lien build. Blonde hair, brown eyes. Seems innocent enough and positively gay."

I can't help but laugh loudly at her last statement. "What makes you say that?"

"He didn't once check you or Cara out in any way which completely differ from the looks you guys usually get." She says while getting off the stool and walking behind the bar.

"So just because he didn't check us out, that means he has to be gay?" I ask her while tilting my head.

"It doesn't have to be but it would be the most logical reason. Either way... he is harmless. Here-" I felt her set a drink down in front me.

As soon as she began to come sit back down beside me. I hear footsteps coming back from the kitchen. I turn my head towards the sound. Cara's smell of vanilla and sage hits me letting me know that they have returned.

"So that is where everything is, I really can't thank you enough for helping me out. If you need anything or have any questions, please just ask." He says to us.

"I have a quick question!" Leila speaks up raising her head up towards him.

"Ask away.." He says while grabbing a drink for Cara and himself.

"Are you gay?"

Cara begins coughing on the drink she was sipping causing Brody to pat her back. I smirk while nudge her side giving her a glare. She just begins swinging her legs again since my glare did not phase her.

"Well... uhm, yes I am." He says while scratching the back of his neck. "How did you know?"

"Your the first guy that has not hit on one of my sisters and you didn't attempt to check out Cara's ass when she bent over a minute ago." Leila says nonchalantly while I burst out laughing. I can only imagine how red Cara is right now or the death glare she is giving Leila.

I hear Brody gently chuckle. "Your sisters are quite stunning but are not my type." He then places something in front of me. "Here try this."

"What is it?" I ask whispering to Leila.

"Its a blueberry muffin, wrapper is still on it." She whispers back. I nod my head in understanding.

"I apologize, do you not like muffins?" Brody ask me.

"It's not that... I am blind and couldn't see what you placed in front of me." I say shrugging my shoulders while taking a bite from the muffin.

"Wait, WHAT?!" Brody says coming closer to my face. I lift my face and can feel how close he is.

"I may not be able to see you but that doesn't mean you need to be in my face." I deadpan to him. I feel him abruptly move back away from me.

"Oh, I'm sorry... It's just you don't look blind, I mean you move around as if you weren't." He sounded intrigued.

"I've been blind for 8 years and have learned how to adapt." I take another bite of my muffin. Leila is now eating one as well.

"Well seriously, you have to be the most interesting person I have met in a long time, other than my boyfriend." I can hear him smile at the mention of his boyfriend.

"What's your boyfriend's name?" Cara ask.

"Marcus, we've been together for 2 years." He says turning towards Cara.

My sisters start getting to know him while I get up and start feeling about the dinning room. I hear the door bell signal someone else has come in. I lift my head but do not attempt to turn towards the person. I hear boots walking towards the register. I turn around and start walking back to where I was sitting. The sound of the bell again goes off letting us know that more people have arrived who were rather loud. I shrugged while feeling the first person started ordering a latte to Cara. She walks away to make the latte while the gentlemen walks towards me and sits down. The smell of his cologne was too strong making me cringe from the smell. He leaned over to me.

"Haven't seen you here before?" He says trying to sound flirty. I roll my eyes and continue drinking from my drink.

"Are you new here?" He says turning his body towards mine.

"That's none of your concern." I say not bothering to turn towards him.

"Ooh fiesty I see." I feel him lean towards me. I feel him gently slide his finger down my arm. I abruptly take my hand to grab his wrist and turn it backwards into a painful position. I hear him take in a sharp breath from the pain.

"Hasn't anyone ever taught you not to touch someone who doesn't want to be?" I harshly snarl out to him before yanking his arm farther back making him yelp. He falls off the bar stool and starts to recollect himself before storming out without his drink.

"You shouldn't have done that Eva!" Leila whisper yells at me.

I shrug my shoulders before I listen for Cara's footsteps. I set back down hearing Leila sigh beside me. I feel eyes are on me but I don't bother to turn around.
