Queen Of Broken Heart

Wrong Answer

"If I'm in grave danger, what would you do? There's two options."

"Of course I'm going to-"

"This is important." She said seriously making the boy nodded and sat up straight, looking into her light brown eyes.

He had been hanging out with her a lot despite what he had heard from the people around him but getting her was the only thing he's aiming for. They were sitting at the middle row bleachers overlooking the swimming pool in the natatorium. Even though they were sitting rather far from the swimmers, the boys can't help but to glance at the ash grey long haired girl with glowing olive skin sitting by their club member. She has the face that could cure the tired eyes. The boy had called her to watch him practice swimming for their next competition. The purpose was to confess his feelings but she was quick to cut him off with the sudden question.

"A, you would save me, even if it will risk your life."

"Easy-"

"Jay, I swear to god, if you don't listen-"

"Okay, okay. I'll zip my mouth until you finish." Jay said gesturing in zipping his mouth, smiling.

"B, you would run away and leave me."

"Can I answer now?" He tucked her strands of hair behind her ear. She chuckled, nodding for him to answer.

She always find him adorable despite his tall muscled swimmers body while the girls around the campus thought he was too hot to handle. Being the jock he is, Sara was always given envy eyes by the girls that had a crush on him.

"No doubt, A. Like I said, easy."

Sara sighed and started to gather her things. Jay watched her questioningly until she stood up. Looking down at him, Sara said something that he knew he had been warned with.

"Sorry Jay, can't date you."

"What? Hey-"

"I told you not to catch feelings, don't I?" She smiled apologetically and turned her heels to walk off, out of the natatorium.

Noticing how she had left and the expression on Jay's face of disbelief, the boys cheered and started to tease him on being dumped. The girls swimmers could only shake their heads, amused.

"Well, she is called the queen for a reason."

"We told you. Seems like your charm didn't get through her, man!" One of the boy named Chris said laughing. Jay clenched his jaw and stood up to leave but the captain had stopped him.

"Treat your heart later, Jay. You still have another hour of training before you leave."

"Jeez, cap. Cut him some slack." Chris nudged him playfully.

The captain smiled, taking the girls off guard with his beautiful dimple on his sculptured model like face.

"Competition is competition. Alright, daytime drama is over. Get back to training."

The commotion soon died down and the training was resumed just like in the first place. With solemn face, the boy who got his heart broken wore his goggles and dived into the pool with a manager taking record of his timer. The captain chuckled and shook his head at what had just happened. He looked outside at the parking lot just as Sara walking with her usual close friends to their car. She was clad in a fitted cropped turtle neck paired that compliments her small waist with a pair of faded blue wide legged jeans and chunky thick soled daddy sneakers to finish the look. She was smiling brightly listening to whatever her friend was telling her about. The captain no doubt acknowledge her etherealness.

The girl looked so innocent and charming at the same time yet no one can claimed her.

"We still have that party to crash tomorrow. Make sure you're available, Sara."

"What party? I would have to check my schedule, ma'am." Sara said squinting her eyes at her phone, checking her calendar. The girl rolled her eyes. She had stopped at Sara's driveway, dropping her off.

"Schedule my ass. Did you take another part time job tomorrow night? Come one, it's christmas!" She whined.

"Christmas? Oh right yeah, can't go. I'm a Santa tomorrow. Ain't that exciting?"

"Dear god, Jenny Soo. Why are you friends with this woman? Get out." Jenny said in vain, patting her short platinum hair assuringly making the latter grinned playfully at her.

Hopping down her friend's jeep, Sara leaned to the car's window after she closed the door.

"I'll make it up to you later, Jen."

"Oh great, treat me bingsu!"

"Again?" Sara scrunched her nose. Her friend narrowed her eyes at her and stick out her tongue.

"You don't have a say in this, Santa."

Plopping herself on her bed after washing up, she sighed recalling back to the swimmer. She thought wrong about the guy and she didn't expect that he would be that way so soon. Then again, guys around her age are wild of course. Some dates just for the purpose of companion, some dates for fun and the thrill. Relationships were never meant to be taken seriously. Having girlfriends and boyfriends are considered as an accomplishment.

"Meh, he is kind of boring anyways. And I thought jocks wouldn't be romantic." Sara snorted at the last part.

She turned to her bedroom window seeing her neighbor studying in his room with his headphones on. A small smile unknowingly crept up her face. Putting on a beige colored hoodie over her pjs, she opened the window to hop over to his room. She stepped around the small space carefully before looking up to see the boy had already standing by with his arms open.

His jet black hair was pushed back only for it to drop by the side of his hazel eyes. Sara admit that his face features is one of the most good looking she ever seen throughout her entourage with the boys. Cheekily grinned, she hopped to the window into his arms without a second thought.

He heaved a sigh when she landed on him and set her to her feet. Being close to each other, he could see the irritated look she had.

"Kyle."

"Yeah?"

"When I'm in danger would you leave me or save me?"

"Leave."

"I knew I could trust you!" Sara said gleefully, throwing her hands around his neck, hugging him tightly. She ruffled his perfectly straight hair when she detached herself from him and plopped on his bed comfortably.

The boy just smiled before sitting back to his seat, facing her.

"How are you still studying? Entrance exam was yesterday, Kyle."

"I was just doing maths for fun." He shrugged. Sara chuckled at that.

She had been friends with him ever since she had moved there as his parents always concerned about her living in her house alone. His parents were once acquaintances with her mother and she will forever be thankful for them being warm to her. Always being called to eat with them, she naturally grew closer to the family and their only son that was a year younger than her.

"You are such a weirdo but in a good way I guess."

"So did you rejected him?"

"Of course, I did. He should have be at least aware of it. I mean everyone is talking about it like I'm an evil incarnate woman." Sara rolled her eyes, knowing well what the students at her campus talk behind her back.

Not that she cared.

"Isn't that normal though?" Kyle started, turning back to his mathematics problems. Sara hummed questioningly.

"What is?"

"Choosing to answer 'A' instead of 'B'."

"No-"

"Sara, if they liked you, who in the right mind would leave you when you're in danger instead of saving you? It just doesn't make sense." He said in finality.

"You don't get it. To be with me, do not make sense. Ever." Sara said nonchalantly. She sat up from his bed and took out her phone. "I need to get ready for my part time job. Have fun studying, Ky."

"Where to today?"

"Usual coffee shop. Are you staying up late again today? I could bring you coffee when I get back."

"Nah."

Swatting her hands away from ruffling his hair, Kyle muttered a goodbye and she left his room, going downstairs. He could hear his lady friend greeted his mother and the sound of the front door closing.

"Just how long will she put up that defense around her."
