five

"She was my best friend and this happened way back when I was in high school, back then the Hanahaki disease is still not known to everyone, it was basically something new, humans have always been afraid of something new, and it caused panic and it was a big deal where everyone thought it was contagious and that if you have it people will make you an outcast." He started, "My best friend, Iris, she was a very spontaneous and passionate person. She was always determined. I grew up with her since our parents were acquainted and we used to play a lot as kids since we lived in the same neighborhood, she was like a sister to me. We did everything together and we went to the same high school. I didn't knew it back then, I mentioned she was a passionate person right? she doesn't know when the hell to give up.. I wish she knew when to do so, then maybe-"

"I'm sorry, I didn't want to make you remember, that was very insensitive of me to ask." I stopped him. "You can tell me the rest when you feel comfortable, you don't have to force yourself." We sat in silence after that, it was comfortable tho.

Around 5, I decided that I needed to go home, I still need to pass by the library to borrow a new book.

"I parked my car a little bit over there, almost near the hospital gate, I'll give you a ride, you don't have to walk just wait for me here and I'll bring the car around."

"Oh no, that's fine. I have to go somewhere else before it closes so I have to hurry." I politely declined.

"Well, wherever you're going I'm pretty sure its faster to go there by car rather than walking?" He flashed me that smile again.

I couldn't decline at this point, maybe I should just take advantage of his kindness?

"So where to?" He asked, I was spacing out and forgot to tell him where I needed to go, he started driving.

"The public library, please."

"Oh nice! I was wanting to go visit there one of these days, I'll go with you!" I smiled back and leaned my head on the window as I stare out of it.

A couple minutes later we arrived and Elijah parked near the entrance.

"I'll just find the book that I need and we can go.." I timidly said.

"No, it's fine. No rush, I'm going to look for some books as well so just find me when you're finished and then we can go, I'll drop you off your place." I nodded and headed my way to the Literature aisle.

I found the book that I was looking for and went to the Librarian to get it checked out, I handed her my library card when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Hey, can you check this one out for me too? I forgot my library card.." Elijah whispered in my ear, his voice was low and it sent chills down to my spine. I nodded and took the book from him and handed it over to the Librarian, "This one too, please." I took the books and handed the book Elijah borrowed to him, it was a book about 'The Language of Flowers.'

"Thanks, I was planning to borrow this a couple weeks from now but since were on our way..I uh-I will come with you when you bring this book back, I'll give you a ride to go here." He scratches the back of his neck.

"Oh it's fine, once you're done you can give it back to me during one of our appointments." I exclaimed.

"No, I'm serious, It's embarrassing enough that I left my library card."

"Well, it was an unexpected trip for you so it's not a big deal." I insisted.

We drove in silence on my way to my apartment.

I asked him to pull over by the sidewalk near my apartment complex.

"Uh, Ramona, do you think we can go out like this again?" He suddenly asked. I looked at him tilting my head to the side, puzzled.

"I mean, I don't mind, I just don't want other people to misunderstand and then think I'm getting special treatment since I am also one of your many patients?"

"No, they won't think that."

"Sure. But, for now, I'll see you on our next appointment?" He nodded, " See you! Have a good night."

I opened the door, "Thanks for the ride. I had a great time, I'll see you." I smiled and closed the car door, "Good night!"

I watched him drove away and as I was about to go up the steps to the door someone grabbed my hand.

"Greta!" I exclaimed.

"Who was that hottie?" She giggles and laced our arms together and walked thru the doors and pressed the elevator button.

"That was my doctor."

"Well, he's hot, is he single?"

"Greeeta!" I whined, rolling my eyes, "Stop! We're just friends!"

"Sheesh! What a waste!"

I shook my head smiling, "Oh Ollie's game is next week, make sure you free your schedule up from our extracurricular activities, okay?" I reminded her.

"Sure, you know we won't miss it!"
