Five

We sat together on the bus, the bus was very relaxing and comfortable. I thought it was worth its price.

It was my first time travelling at night and travelling to a far distance without my mum. Mum would never have accepted if not because of Zain.

I trusted my mom

She was too dramatic, typically a Yoruba mother; always drama queen.

Muhammad sat between us; separating both of us. The boy was very energetic and lively, he never stopped disturbing, playing and laughing. I laughed at whatever he said or did. But the beautiful specimen beside me was making me fidgeted on my seat because he continued to stare at me as if I was a trophy.

He couldn't even lower his gaze!

"He never takes a liking to someone so quick like how he is to you" He broke the silence between us.

"Uh..." I replied dumbfounded not getting what he meant.

He laughed out, held his side while I looked at him confusedly because I didn't understand him. "Look at your face!, it looks like that of the cartoon or comic" I gasped with widened eyes.

"You are comparing a normal human being to a cartoon" I shook my head and muttered 'unbelievable' under my breath.

"Are you kidding me?" I asked, trying to look intimidating but it was impossible to this hulk.

"No, I'm adulting you," he replied sarcastically.

"Whatever," I responded gruffly and huffed then looked out the window.

"Ok, I'm sorry my little baby rukky" he teased me while nudging my side in a playful manner.

"I've told you several times without number that I am not a baby, that I'm a Lady" I emphasized on the last word 'lady'.

"Aye!, M'lady" he burst out a very loud laugh, making me laugh along with him.

I noticed everyone was looking at us, some were smiling and whispering.

"Look at them, they look cute together".

"Look at their baby!" I heard an elderly dreamy voice at the back.

"Baby!" I mentally screeched yet kept my cool.

~**~

I was hearing my name in the distance, someone nudging me to wake from my deep slumber.

I mumbled out some incoherent words.

I hated being awake from my beauty sleep, especially when I was about to take a spoon to eat, sincerely I hated it.

"A minute please," I said, turning my body to another side.

"Rukky, get down!, we have arrived at our destination" I heard another voice urging me to wake but I couldn't, I needed to eat a spoon. But my eyes widely opened when I heard a word that almost made me cry.

"Mom" my eyes fluttered open in shock while Zain looked surprised.

Muhammad just called me mom; I meana freaking mom, I screamed happily but it was inside my head.

I felt a bubble of excitement and happiness washed over me.

I yawned, "I'm up," I said and stretched my body to lose some muscle pain at my neck while Muhammad crashed me into a bear hug.

I felt complete, I loved this boy with every fibre of my body. He had me wrapped around his little fingers. I wished to have a baby like him.

"I've called our driver - Audu is coming to take us," He said, stretching his body. He looked like a front-page model; his body structure was ravishing. He looked so scrumptious, even in his thirties -he looked so young with his boyish smile.

"Barka da zuwa!, Iyayenku suna jiran ku a gida" a man in his mid-thirties said while he bro-shake zain. He looked happy seeing Zain but when his gaze fell on me, He looked at me from head to toe then back to Zain before showing his while pearls teeth and dimples. ( welcome back! your parents are waiting for you at home).

Oh my Gawd!, I love guys with dimples. He is cute. I thought.

The guy was Audu which I later knew that he was the driver to drive us home.

The distance from the motor park to his house was far, with side talks and chats, we arrived at a big golden gate. The front door of a big golden door opened, showing a perfect couple and some ladies.

The man looked like the older version of Zain; the same physique, structure, manliness except the man had some strain grey hair while the woman looked innocent and petite, very beautiful.

But this man had two wives, where is the second? I wanted to voice out but kept it to myself.

I was still looking at the design of the house before I was suddenly crushed in a bear hug; I meant a very tight hug. I stood still, I couldn't move my body.

"Wayyo Allah!,kinfi kyau a matum fiye da hoto. Wai, saikace wata aljana. Gaskiya ina kaunar ki matuqa" The woman blabbed, touching my cheek- looking at me with admiration but I stared at her confusedly. ( Oh my God!, you look beautiful in person than the picture. You look like an angel, I love you so much).

"Menene sunan ki?" ( what's your name?).

"Dada ina kike?" (where are you from?).

"Mama, ba bahaushiya bace" Zain also said in the foreign language. ( mom, she is not a Hausa)

I looked at them confusedly but the woman still hugged me and whispered some words under her breath but I caught the last one 'Koma meye ne'. (whatever, I don't care).

"Darling, you are suffocating the poor girl" The man spoke up for the first time, his voice was deep and gruffer than Zain's voice. I smiled awkwardly at him while he returned it.

"She is turning purple already," he said, and the woman released and took a look at me before she glared at her husband for teasing her.

"Oh sorry! I'm just too happy to see you. What is your name dear?" she asked, smiling warmly at me.

She made me remember my mom.

"My name is Ruqoyyah," I told her shyly.

She held my hand and looked at me, "Wallahi, you are very beautiful. I see why my boy can't do without mentioning you. He is so..." She was cut off by Zain's whining voice and groaned.

"Mom!" He called.

"What baby; I should tell her the truth that you are so...".

"Common let's get inside" he cut her off again while pushing her inside, talking in their language again.

I was lost!
