CHAPTER 07

Alexander knocked at the door of Mr Wilson's office and waited for his answer. "Come in." Mr Wilson said.

He opened the door and stepped into the office. He walked into the room and took his seat. "You didn't even bother to tell me that your mother bought a girl for you to get married, Mr Walker?" Mr Wilson asked in an angry tone.

"It's not like that." Alexander replied.

"Then tell me what it is like?" Mr Wilson asked.

"I know I should have called you as I came to know my mom bought Erica. But everything happened so fast and I really forgot to tell you." Alexander explained.

"It's okay Alexander, I can understand the hell you're going through. But are you sure you want this. I know you very well and you never wanted to force a lady into a relationship or marriage." Mr Wilson asked. Alexander sighed and forced a smile on his face.

"I have accepted her with my heart and soul." Alexander replied.

"Congratulations Mr Walker, for your engagement and also because now you will soon be a free man, after you are married to her." Mr Wilson said with a wide smile.

"What do you mean by free man?" Alexander asked.

"Your mother played really well but she actually forgot that if you accept the girl as your wife, Mrs Smith will no longer be able to control your life. Your wife will be the one in charge. She can even fire the traitors, who had been working for Mrs Smith." Mr Wilson explained.

" But she's too innocent to fight, like I am fighting. How could she be in charge?" Alexander asked in confusion.

"See, your grandfather made sure that you won't suffer too much. Even if your wife would be a kid, she would be in charge. But your wife is an adult, so she can handle it, right?" Mr Wilson asked.

"I don't know Mr Wilson." He replied in a broken tone.

"Alexander, don't worry. It's now your turn to live your life as you wish." Mr Wilson reassured.

"I'll try my best Mr Wilson. Thank you" Alexander replied as he stood up.

"Just remember Alexander, that girl just saved your life from your evil mother. You should take care of her. At least you can do that to someone who saved your life, right?" Mr Wilson asked. Alexander didn't reply but forced a smile on his face.Mr Wilson also stood up, they shook hands and Alexander left.

Alexander reached his mansion in the evening. He went straight to his bedroom. He expected Erica to be in the bedroom but she wasn't. He sighed and went to the bathroom. He took a quick shower and changed into his casual home clothes. He went back downstairs and stepped into the kitchen. He looked into the fridge, her breakfast and lunch was still there in the fridge, still untouched. He knew she must be angry at him but he couldn't do anything. He was already so broken and couldn't bear to lose another person. He heated up the lunch and called a maid. "Go and give it to Erica. Don't come back until she finishes it all." Alexander ordered the maid.

"Okay young Master" she replied and went to the garden where Erica was sitting.

"Young Mistress, young Master has sent this food for you." Maid told Erica.

"I don't want it. I'm not hungry, take it away." Erica said angrily.

"But Mistress, Master had ordered me to make sure you have finished it all." Maid argued.

Erica glared at her and she bit her tongue. She quickly took the tray and went back to the kitchen. "Master, young Mistress is really angry. I am sorry Master, she refused to eat or even look at it." Maid said to Alexander.

He sighed and dismissed the maid. He took the tray and went to the garden. He went to her and sat beside her with the tray. "Didn't I tell you to finish your meal?" Alexander said angrily.

"I'm not hungry." She replied.

"I said eat" he ordered.

"No I won't." She yelled.

"Whatever, I don't care. You wanna die, go ahead. I'm not wasting my time over you. " He rudely said and left. She controlled herself until he was in sight. As he left, she broke into tears. She laid down on the grass and kept crying. He went back to his room and started completing his assignment. He busied himself in his work that he forgot about her.

His stomach growled out loud, reminding him that it's dinner time. He was done with his assignment. He looked at the clock, it was 9 O'clock. He quickly wrapped everything up and stretched his muscles. He exited his bedroom and went straight to the kitchen. All maids were now off for the night and he was all alone in the house with Erica. He went to the kitchen and found Erica's dinner still in the fridge. He looked around for her but she wasn't in the house. "Shit" he cursed and ran to the garden. He was wearing his jacket and still he was shivering with the cold. He found her lying on the grass. She was shivering because of the chilly weather. He quickly wrapped his arms around her.

"Erica, wake up." He called her but she didn't reply. He scooped her up in his arms and carried her bridal style. He took her back to their bedroom, laid her gently on the bed and quickly called the doctor. Doctor came and checked her up.

"103 digress. She has a high fever Mr Walker." Doctor Thomson said.

"Do I need to take her to the hospital?" Alexander asked in a worried tone.

"No Mr Walker. Right now I'm giving her some medicine, also I will give her a shot, that will bring the fever down. But in case you feel her fever is up again or she is shivering again, then it's better to take her to the hospital." Doctor explained.

"Okay but she hasn't had anything since morning." Alexander said.

"Okay then, I won't be giving her shot, you need to feed her and give her the medicine." Doctor said.

"Okay I will." Alexander replied.

"You are very lucky Mr Walker that all the medicines she needs are actually in my kit. Here you go." Doctor handed him the medicines and stood up.

"Thank you so much doctor." Alexander said as he walked him to the door. Doctor left and Alexander heated up the dinner again. First he thought that he would wake her up and tell her to take medicine but then he remembered Saturday night, when he was drunk and she took care of him, then in the morning how she was worried seeing him in pain, then she massaged his head to make him feel better. He smiled and shook his head. He took a deep breath and took the dinner to their room.

He entered the room and found her awake and crying. He set the tray on the bed side table and sat close to her. He wrapped his arms around her and rubbed her back. "Shhh… don't cry baby girl." He cooed her.

"You're mean." She said between her sobs.

"I know baby girl but…" he stopped in the middle of the sentence.

"But what?" She almost yelled between her sobs.

"You won't understand, no one will." He said in a sad tone.

"How can you judge me without trying?" She asked as she punched his hard chest but hurt her hand.

"Don't do this to me Erica, please. I'm already broken." He pleaded.

"What do you mean you're broken?" She whispered.

"Every person in my life except for Ken, whomever I got attached with ended up breaking my trust, or leaving me alone or even worse, dead." He told her his bitter truth.

"I won't leave you, I will never leave you." She said without any hesitation.

"You don't know that baby girl." He replied.

"I promise I won't." She said.

"So many people had promised me the same." He replied back. She felt sad and angry at the same time. She wanted him to believe her that she would never leave him but he was being stubborn. An idea popped up in her mind and she tried to get up but failed.

"What are you doing? You're sick, don't get up." He said.

"Give me your right hand." She asked.

"Why?" He asked back.

"Please…" she pleaded and sighed. He gave her his hand and she put it on her chest, right above her heart and held it tightly.

"I, Erica A. Roberts, swear to God and on my life. That I will never leave you, Alexander Walker alone and will always keep you happy forever." She said it in one breath.

By the time he realized what she did, she already had taken an Oath over her life.

"Are you nuts, what were you thinking? You took an Oath over your life." Alexander scolded her.

"I know what an Oath is and I know I did right." Tears welled up in his eyes as he felt all the emotions dancing in his veins. He pulled her to his chest, wrapped his arms around her small body and kissed the top of her head.

"You're crazy baby girl. I don't deserve someone like you" He said and she buried her face in his chest.

"You can't decide that, only God can decide that." She said confidently and he tightened his arms around her. He broke the hug after a few minutes and made her sit on the bed. She wiped his tears and gave him a cute smile that made him chuckle softly. He fed her with his own hands and she helped him with his dinner as well. After dinner, he gave her medicine, she gave him a very hard time to take it but he eventually won with a promise to take her to the dance school. She laid down on the bed and he laid with her. She closed her eyes and whispered.

"Good night Alex." He smiled and pecked her forehead.

"Good night baby girl." He held her tightly and promised himself that he would make all of her wishes come true. That she is his princess and he will make sure to make her feel like one every single day.
