Dust in the wind

Prologue

The sun was starting to rise on this warm summer morning. The sounds of birds singing in the forests could be heard easily through the silence of the morning. As the suns raises to my eyes i strained to open them, and a small groan left my mouth as i shifted my weight slightly and finally opened my eyes, blinking them against the sun. My twin brother, Andrew, began to fidget next to me as we sat in the back seat of our family car. We both had dark red hair, but mine was significantly longer, down to the middle of my back. Andrew had these dark ocean blue eyes. My eyes were the only thing different between him and I, for i had a genetic disorder called heterochromia iridis when means i have two different eye colors, one was of emerald green and the other was the same dark ocean blue. Andrew was also a bit taller than me, standing at 5 feet 9 inches and i was quite short.

"Good morning sleepy" A gruff deep voice came from the front, and i looked to see my adopted father, James, smiling at us.

I smiled back and let out a large yawn. "Are we almost there?" I asked, sitting up to look out the window to see large forests surrounding us. A rather comforting place for me to be in. Without a reply, the car pulled into a driveway up to a rather beautiful house surrounded my trees and thick dense forests. "Never mind then" I chuckled.

'This place is beautiful' a less deeper voice washed over my thoughts and i turned to Andrew and smiled widely and nodded. My brother and I, for being twins, always had this special connection. I can hear and communicate to him through thought, as of he to me.

'I wonder if there's any good cliffs to jump off into some water' I thought back with a slight mischievous attitude.

After the car came to a complete stop James turned to both of us. "Yes, we're here, and now i want you to close your eyes"

Andrew and I looked at each other for a moment, and then we both shrugged and closed our eyes. James then lead me out the car first, guiding me through the driveway, then stopped me.

As i waited i listened around me, the summer breeze blew through the trees, and birds singing softly nearby. Everything felt familiar, and very comforting. Soon i felt my brother being placed right next to me. "Alright then, now open your eyes" James instructed.

When we both opened our eyes we saw matching motorcycles in front of us. "Is that the fireblade?" I asked excitedly. It was my dream bike, and i've always wanted one.

"You both are turning 16 in a few days, so happy early birthday" James laughed, while his wife Elizabeth only half smiled.

One bike was red, and one was blue. "Obviously the red one is mine" I stated while shooting Andrew a glance. Then i went and ran to hug James tightly. "Thank you thank you thank you" I spoke with full delight.

Soon another car pulled into the driveway. "So ya'll couldn't wait for us?" said a large muscled man came out of the driver side. Alexander is his name, and was one of my other adopted siblings. He had medium jet black hair with dark, almost black eyes. Then, as if on que, Warren, Alexanders twin brother, opened the passenger side and lifted his arms up. "Yeah what gives? We were like two seconds behind you" Warren quipped.

James shrugged "should've drove faster, im not a patient man" He replied.

"Don't forget about me" a small voice came from behind Alexander and Warren, a shorter guy with dirty blonde hair came around and frowned at James. Cassius was the only biological child of Eliza and James.

"You're not forgotten Cassius, your birthday isnt for a few months so don't worry"

After what it felt like hours upon hours of unpacking, we all finally gotten everything out of the cars and moving truck. The house was coming together like a home. I was standing in my room, looking out to the forest. For a small moment it felt that it was calling for me. Bringing me out to the balcony that connected to Andrew's room that was right next to mine. I felt the warm summer breeze glide across my face as i felt the suns warmth peeking through the tree's.

After a brief moment of taking the view in, a strong sense of danger flooded my veins and my eyes darted to the tree line below. I narrowed my eyes to try to see into the forest when i heard a loud howl in the distance and the hair on every inch of my body stood up on end. I held my breath, leaning over the edge of the balcony when i heard Andrews balcony door open and he stepped out.

"So you felt that too?" I asked, looking to him with slight worry. He nodded and peered into the forest as well. "It feel's like something is coming"

We both stood there a moment, watching the tree's and saw Alexander and Warren outside looking at the same tree's.

"Well, this will be interesting" Andrew said with a smirk as he broke his gaze and turned to walk back inside. "Lets go eat, i know you're hungry"

I felt the calling of the forrest once more before breaking my eye contact and smiling at Andrew "I'm always hungry"
