Chapter 6- Two sides of myself

*Alexei's POV*

It was a few days before I went back to class, getting over 'food poisonings' as James said to my brother and I before we had left that next Monday for a full week of classes. Hope and Jacks stopped by every now and then to drop off homework assignments so we didn't fall behind in our classes.

I arrived on my motorcycle with Andrew close behind me. Hope and Jacks were waiting for us near the entrance. I pulled off my helmet and ran my fingers through my hair.

"Girl you lookin fine today" Hope exclaimed. Her once shy demeanor when I first met her melted away and has become one of my first friends here in Oregon.

I rolled my eyes at her as she ran up and embraced me. "I'm always lookin fine" I stated, only meaning it halfheartedly. "Anything exciting happen while i was away?" I asked as we began walking up to the school entry doors.

"Oh nothing too exciting, except everyone has been mildly obsessed with the other new students, the Edwards" she stated as we paused before going inside. There was still a good 30 minutes before school even started so we sat at the stairs in midst of conversation.

"The Edwards?" I tilted my head, a faint memory of the new boy that walked into the classroom that very first day. "Ohhhh, I guess that I got sick before I actually got to meet them" I stated with the shrug of my shoulders.

Hope smiled and nodded. "It's crazy that you and Andrew both got sick, is that a weird twin thing?" She asked.

I chuckled wile looking about the parking lot. "It's been that way since we were little, so yeah, i guess you can say it's a weird twin thing" I replied as I started getting lost in thought. Trying to connect every little piece over what has happened. I turned my head to look at Andrew who was chatting Jacks up like a couple of bro's and I smiled, watching boy's being boys.

Soon the school bell rang and it was off to class. Thankfully I shared most of my classes with Hope, so it was easy to get well adjusted into the routine. Hope and I walked into our AP English class, as Hope took her seat and saved mine while i turned all the homework from the previous week.

"Well I hope you're feeling better" the teacher smiled a warm bright smile as she took my stack of mountain of finished homework. "Wow, you got all of this done?" She said flipping through the papers.

"Couldn't afford to get behind" I said with a shrug and walked over to Hope and took the spot next to her.

Hope giggled as she looked at me. "Well I guess she didn't think you'd get everything done"

I shrugged again and smiled as I settled the English material on my desk. As the last of the students began shuffling in a cool breeze circled in through the door. I turned to look at Hope, who was looking off in the direction of the door, I followed her eyes to see the same boy I saw in AP Biology. His wavy brown honeyed hair sat perfectly on his head, his bright amber eyes scanning the room as he gently stepped to his seat, in a perfect rhythm.

"That's Elijah" I heard Hope's soft whisper in my ear.

Then those amber eyes met mine. It was like time stopped, and I could barely stop myself from staring, but I manage to break eye contact with a role of my eyes and turned by head to the front.

Classes went by quickly, and I, to my not so good luck, kept seeing Elijah. We had almost the exact same schedule, but everywhere just felt cold now that he was here. I tried my best to ignore him, unlike everyone else.

Finally lunch came around and as I sat with my friends and my brother I finally felt the warmth of the day. "So how's finally returning to civilization?" Jacks cooed at me from across the table.

"It's not like we were in Africa or anything" I said sarcastically as I threw a french-fry at him.

"So have you seen the other new students yet?" Jacks said as he looked between Andrew and I.

My brother and I exchanged looks. "Elijah is the only one I seem to see everywhere I go, there's more of them?" I asked

Jacks and Hope nodded "There is a total of four of them in high school, the youngest one is just a freshmen, his name is Ephraim" Jacks said. "I've only see Faye, she's in most of my classes, and Cecelia is a senior"

"Where do they get these names?" I said laughing and Hope joined in.

"I know right? They sound ancient right?" Hope added.

Soon that same bitter cold air hit the entire cafeteria, which sent shivers up my spine. I turned to look around the room and I saw them casually walk by our table to sit at a table just a few steps away from us. They all sat close together, chatting amongst themselves before all of their amber eyes started staring at me.

I caught my breath and quickly turned away from them. "Everyone is so obsessed with them and I don't understand why" I said with a quick huff and went back to eating my lunch.

As lunch wrapped up it was time for Ap Biology class. Before Hope and I stepped into the class she looked at me, her eyes looked slightly worried. "So, i better break some bad news to you before we head in" She stated as we stood a little way from the door.

"Bad news?" I riased an eyebrow and tilted my head.

"Well we were assigned lab partners the second day of school, and we didn't get to chose, and you and I arent lab partners" She said with a big sigh.

"Oh, well that's alright im sure who ever my lab part-" I began to say but was cut off by Hope holding a finger up.

"Elijah is your lab partner" She finally said after a moment after I stopped talking.

"Oh you gotta be fucking kidding me" I groaned loudly as we then stepped through the door of the class as soon as the bell rang. I watched Hope mouth 'I'm sorry' as she left my side to go sit with her partner. My eyes wavered over to the only lab table with a single student, Elijah, who was looking out the window. I took a deep breath and went to claim my seat next to him.

I settled down into the seat, not making eye contact as I brought out my Biology book and last week's homework. I took a quick glance at Hope, who was giving me an encouraging smile and a thumbs up that I couldn't help but smile back at her.

"Can't avoid me much now that we're lab partners" A dark soothing voice said beside me.

I turned to look toward Elijah, whose amber eyes were staring into mine. "Who said I was avoiding you?" I said with a light sneer. "Maybe you're just use of everyone obsessing over you, and it freaks you out that I particularly don't care"

A chuckle came from him, and a glimpse of amusement shined in his eyes. "That's harsh considering you don't know me at all" He replied, adjusting his seating position so he sat slightly closer to me.

My heart began to jump to my throat as I shifted uncomfortably. "Okay maybe that was a tad mean, but the truth hurts sometimes" I doubled back and looked down at my notes. "So, instead of trying to figure me out, cause I'll tell you that wont work, lets just focus on the assignment at hand"

I heard a deep sigh from Elijah , but he didn't make no more small talk for the rest of the period besides class talk.

Finally when the class was over I began to gather my things into my backpack. I glanced at Hope, who was waiting for me by the door. I stood up from my seat and turned to Elijah and held out my hand for a handshake. "It was a pleasure meeting you"

Elijah seemed to hesitate, looking at my outstretched hand for a moment before taking it and shaking it gently and quickly walked away.

When his hand touched mine icy chills shot right up my arm. I shivered and didn't even bother watching him leave. Something in his icy spark as his hand touched mine sent fear through me like a wave.

Hope came walking up to my desk and smiled at me. "Still not impressed by the Edwards?" She asked me teasingly.

I rolled my eyes and laughed. "HA, impressed by that? Pleaassee" I said with a snort as we walked out of class together.

I turned by head as I seen Andrew running up to me, concern in his eyes. "Alexei, are you alright?" He asked, slightly out of breath from rushing his way over.

I smiled softly "yes, i'm just fine" I put my hand out and touched his shoulder. We both understood everything that was happening. Everything started making sense. The new transformation, the new senses, the new uncertain feelings. 'The Edward's are vampires' I said through my mind link with Andrew.

When our eyes met, we both knew what I said to be true.
